KNOWN ISSUE
Before my PC broke all the text in the GUI menus were nicely aligned. I have no idea why, but since re-installing Arma the text has become slightly misaligned. If I can figure out why I'll change it.

I wanted to make customising THE ASSAULT a lot easier and faster:

>When you return to menus they will now remember the options you've previously chosen (e.g. enemies, missions, support etc),
>If you've already defined a unit or vehicle you'll be asked if you want to use your current design instead of opening the VIRTUAL ARSENAL or GARAGE,
>When you choose how to insert you'll now see the map in the background allowing you to make a more informed decision

>When you choose a QUICK FACTION you now choose how to insert, it's no longer chosen for you.

>The Gameplay Options menu now includes presets for ACTION or TACTICAL game-play and DIFFICULTY settings.

ENEMY/INDEPENDENT MAXIMUM SIZE AUTOMATICALLY ADJUSTS*:

TIME ACCELERATION:

GAME-PLAY:
Ever had civilians or allied independent units get in the way, like standing right where you want to plant some explosives? Now, when you get close to them you'll get the option to tell them to 'Get Out of Here!', which will delete them.

CUP QUICK FACTIONS:
When I started THE ASSAULT I was torn between using RHS or CUP for modern warfare. I chose RHS, but I still love CUP, and it keeps getting better and better. I've now added CUP alternatives for the following historical conflicts:

Rhodesia 1964-79
Afghanistan 1979-89
Chechnya 1994-96 & 1999-2009
Somalia 1992-93
Kosovo 1998-99
Sierra Leone 2000-01
Iraq Invasion 2003
Afghanistan 2001-21 - with Germany and Czech Republic added (although the latter, in reality, were limited to non-combat roles except special forces)
Syria 2011+
Mali 2012+ - Insurgents only

Appropriate civilian factions have also been added.

>I've tidied up the JM's Long Live the Empire QUICK FACTIONS, merging some of them together.
>Paratroopers added to Galactic Empire factions from JM's Long Live the Empire and Manadalorian factions from Legion Base Stable. However, I don't think paratroopers fit with the ambience of Star Wars so I recommend also loading JM's Effect which will swap the parachutes for jet packs.

A BIG update to Storms:
>Added Rain Storm/Monsoon
>Storms will now come and go every 5-10 minutes instead of being permanent
>During a storm enemies and independents spawn closer (you can turn this off in Gameplay Options)
>All sides cannot call air support/reinforcements or supply drops during a storm or in heavy rain (you can turn this off in Gameplay Options)

>If you are unlucky enough that all your squad is killed when first spawned (rare, but it can happen if the vehicle spawns in a tree, for example) then the mission will fail rather than the game getting stuck.
>Heroes sometimes had no maps
>Sometimes when a hero was killed during melee their marker did not disappear.

I hope you all had a good Christmas and I wish you well for 2022!

I would never have believed when I released THE ASSAULT last summer that so many people would play it. Thanks for your comments and suggestions, they've really helped it develop since then. I'm pretty happy with how THE ASSAULT is now. So, in 2022 the pace of updates will slow down. I will continue to keep an eye out for new Workshop content to include and I will definitely include any new CDLC (WWII please!!!). And do keep on offering suggestions!

Another update for the holidays!

FIXED
> Removed SPECIAL QUICK FACTIONs sometimes asking you to design diving gear for your squad, changing in and out of diving gear is not compatible with SPECIAL QUICK FACTIONS.
> Fixed issue where if you chose the blue filter to be on at night it would turn off in the final mission.
> Fixed an issue where you did not get rewarded if you killed a hero that uses melee weapons.
> I noticed you'd stop getting rewarded for killing a dog. I did some experimentation and it showed that Arma could no longer detect if the player killed the dog - don't know why. Given dogs are hard to kill I've now made it that you'll get a +5VP reward if anyone kills a dog.

>The player must kill special forces to get the +10 VP bonus, it can't be any member of the player's squad (it was way too easy to get the reward).
>Added Western Sahara CSAT QUICK FACTION, somehow I failed to notice they were included in the CDLC when I added the other Factions!

KNOWN ISSUE
>For some reason when you fail a mission custom messages are no longer shown, instead you'll get a default message like "MISSION FAILED". This is an annoying change to how BIS_fnc_endMission works as you no longer know why you failed a mission or what your final score was if you failed the last mission. I hope that is a glitch that will be corrected rather than a permanent change. As a workaround I've added the message that used to appear into the mission debrief.
