Nox is back and better than ever! With the help of Delta Parallax, he has a BRAND NEW NEUTRAL SPECIAL!!! Aside from that, this update brings a few more balance adjustments.

Shadow Core Trap (REMADE): A homing shot that targets an opponent in front of Nox when he snaps his fingers. The Shadow Core will erupt from the position of the reticle. Think of this move as a mini-hybrid of Palutena's Autoreticle & Explosive Flame. It is excellent for catching opponents off guard from far away. For those fighting against Nox, this attack can be avoided relatively easily as long as you are not careless. The lock on works by taking an enemy's position once Nox snaps his fingers and stops after that, meaning that an opponent can avoid it by simply walking away if they are able to. Despite this, there are lots of ways Nox can utilize the move to his advantage, so be sure not to underestimate this versatile attack. When Swift Mode is active, this move receives additional benefits. Along with a stronger damage and knockback output, the range at which Nox can lock onto an enemy is increased, as is the speed at which the projectile activates. This move will fail if Nox is not in range of an opponent, and it cannot reach behind the direction he's currently facing when the move is used.

Nox's former NSPECIAL, Shadow Core Launch, has been changed to FSPECIAL from here on out. In light of this recent change, and Nox's former FSPECIAL (which was an Incineroar-esque command grab) is no longer part of Nox's moveset. To compensate for this adjustment, the final window of Nox's FSPECIAL will now ease your descent when used in the air!

TL;DR - Completely New NSPECIAL. Former NSPECIAL is now FSPECIAL. Former FSPECIAL is gone, but will not be forgotten.


Other Balance Changes:

-NAIR final hitbox lifetime has been decreased (5 -> 3)
-All aerials have 1 less frame of landing lag.
-USPECIAL's hitbox width has been slightly decreased.
-All Shadow Core moves have had their cooldowns slightly decreased.
-Much like Aerial FSPECIAL, the final window of DSPECIAL will also ease your descent if used while airborne. This is assuming you are not attacked while the counter is active.


Cosmetic Changes:

-Nox's FSPECIAL (again, formerly NSPECIAL) projectile streak colors for whether or not Swift Mode is active have been swapped.
-Fixed a random pixel on DAIR.
-Added unique colors for Kirby's version of Shadow Core Launch.
-An assortment of new SFX & VFX, some of which are also courtesy of Delta!

There were a few more things I wanted to tune up with Nox,

Cosmetic Changes:

-The usual animation changes.
-Due to some of the animation adjustments, some of Nox's attack hurtboxes have also been adjusted accordingly.
-Fixed the offset of Nox's dash animation


Balance Changes:

-DTILT sweetspot width decreased (18 -> 14)
-DTILT sweetspot lifetime increased (1 -> 2)
-DTILT sourspot knockback scaling decreased (.7 -> .65)
-DTILT sourspot width increased (56 -> 65)
-All DTILT hitboxes now come out 1 frame sooner.
-FAIR multihits knockback increased.
-All FAIR hitboxes shifted forwards in tandem with animation adjustments.
-DAIR first hitbox comes out 1 frame sooner.
-Other improvements and adjustments!

Core's Awakening Update

Okay, truth be told, at this point I honestly just want it to say 3.3 on the patch note thingy. But I did throw in some very last touches.

Cosmetic Changes:

-Rearranged Nox's victory theme!


Balance Changes:

-FAIR final hitbox repositioned. (Moved forwards 3 pixels)


This time that should really be it for all of the last minute changes.

Dark Doors Update

A quick hotfix for V3.0/3.1, especially since the updating number coding is kinda dumb by default.


Cosmetic Changes:

-Quick fix on NSPECIAL projectile sprite visuals.


Balance Changes:

-UTILT knockback scaling reduced. (.8 -> .75)
-BAIR sourspot lifetime decreased. (3 -> 2)

Heart of Shadows Update

Another year, another big update for Nox, and most likely one of his last updates! This update is being released in tandem with Nox's stage, Numbra Altar! Please give the stage a try if you're able to! This patch brings the usual set of balancing + art changes.

Cosmetic Changes:

-Animation changes, nameley to Nox's basic movement animations!
-Added Custom Hit FX for Nox!
-Due to some of the animation adjustments, some of Nox's attack hurtboxes have also been adjusted accordingly.
-Nox's Frozen Frostbite palette is back!


Balance Changes:


-Slighlty decreased the size of Nox's idle and crouching hurtboxes.
-JAB knockback scaling decreased. (.6 -> .55)
-DATTACK's launch angle adjusted. (50 -> 60)
-DATTACK Swift Mode base knockback decreased. (12 -> 10)
-DATTACK sourspot lifetime decreased. (8 -> 6)
-DATTACK endlag increased. (+4 frames)
-NAIR startup increased. (+1 frame)
-NAIR phantom sourspot lifetime decreased. (8 -> 5)
-FAIR final hitbox repositioned. (Moved up by 3 pixels)
-FAIR's Drift & SDI multipliers have been adjusted on the final hit to 1.
-NSPECIAL projectile lifetime decreased. (35 -> 30)
-NSPECIAL endlag increased. (+4 frames)
-FSPECIAL grab hitbox lifetime decreased. (16 -> 15)
-Parrying Nox's FSPECIAL grab hitbox will now stun him.
-USPECIAL's hitboxes will now properly dissappear when cancelling the move early.
-Parrying Nox's USPECIAL will cancel his recovery and put him right into pratfall stun afterwards.
-Fixed a bug where using DSPECIAL while in the air refreshes Nox's airdodge. This is no longer the case.
-DSPECIAL now has an extended cooldown when Swift Mode is deactivated.
-DSPECIAL now has a special HUD icon indicating Swift Mode and whether or not DSPECIAL can be used.


Well, this is it! I know I've said it one too many times before, but I really think that this is going to be one of Nox's final udpates. And who knows? Maybe it won't be, but I know for sure that this time I'm really confidant that I can close the book on this one. Anyways, that's it for this patch! Take care!

Christmas Update

I made just a feeeew more animation changes for this update, that's really all that encompasses this patch. Shouldn't be anything too crazy!

Cosmetic Changes:

-Animation changes!
-FSPECIAL has a new animation variant for when it is used in the air!
-Fixed animation vfx for FAIR and DOWN TAUNT.
-Nox's wallcling/walljump animation has been improved.

Balance Changes:

-NAIR has a new hitbox to match it's animation tune-ups!
-FSPECIAL's new aerial variant has a new hurtbox to match it's animation.

Speedy Update

As implied by the name of the update, lots of Nox's moves have been made faster! Additionally, a bunch of other neat things have been added as well, including a slew of improvements made to Nox's Up Special!


Cosmetic Changes:

-Fixed an animation that had a lingering pixel on it.
-NSPECIAL now has differentiating sound effects when firing the Shadow Core depending on whether Swift Mode is active or not.

Balance Changes:

-FTILT, DTILT, DATTACK, NAIR, FAIR, UAIR, & BAIR have all had general speed increases.
-FAIR & UAIR now have slightly less landing lag.
-BAIR & DTILT have had knockback scaling increases on their sweetspots.
-All of Nox's Strongs have had their knockback scaling increased.
-FSPECIAL now travels faster and farther on both versions.
-USPECIAL has had a significant speed increase for both versions.
-Swift Mode now lasts just a little longer!
-USPECIAL also has a new mechanic, in that you can now push your opponents during the move! If Swift Mode happens to be on, opponents will be put in hitstun if Nox bumps into them during USPECIAL! Use this to either throw your opponents off their feet, or to save a friend in doubles! But beware, use the move too recklessly and you might be in trouble!


This update was meant to improve Nox's overall game-feel, so hopefully I was able to accomplish that here!

Huge Update!

Nox has received so many animation changes in this update across the board, please give it a try! (Also funny Kingdom Hearts number lol)

Cosmetic Changes:

-Made TONS of adjustments to the smear frames on EVERY SINGLE MOVE. This time, the changes can clearly be seen!

Balance Changes:

-Nox's knockback integer has been slightly lowered, and is now equal to Ori's!
-FAIR's hitboxes are MUCH bigger.
-Slightly repositioned FTILT's sweetspot.
-Increased the size of UAIR's final hit.
-BAIR's sour spots have been shifted backwards a bit to match the updated animation.
-Increased the priority value of DAIR's final hit.
-FSTRONG & USTRONG's multihits will now nullify projectiles like most other attacks normally would.
-USTRONG now has two additional hitboxes above Nox at the start of the move that improves with trapping opponents above him, and guards his hurtbox at the start of the move.
-NSPECIAL is still the same move, but the Shadow Core is now fired from a portal that Nox conjures in front of him!
-USPECIAL's Super Armor now lasts longer during Swift Mode!


The changes I made in this update kind of blow every other previous update out of the water, if I do say so myself. I may even remake Nox's trailer considering just how much I adjusted the animations to this point. Regardless, I hope you enjoy this update!

Cosmic Reverence Update


This update contains some more changes to Nox that I decided to implement. The biggest change is that Nox's attacks during Swift Mode do much more damage now! This change was made because Swift Mode sometimes felt a little underwhelming, so let's change that!


Cosmetic Changes:

-Made some more adjustments to certain attack animations.
-The majority of Nox's attacking sounds now change when Swift Mode is active!
-Rearranged the placement of some of Nox's alts.
-Added compatibility with Amber!
-Added more sounds to strongs.


Balance Changes:

-Readjusted Nox's hurtbox during DSPECIAL.
-All/most Swift Mode damage values have been increased! Nox is now more lethal than ever!

Lost Worlds Update


Nox is back yet again with another huge update containing lots of overall adjustments! Also the name of the update is just a reference to Light Fall, nothing special.


Cosmetic Changes:

-Added in TONS of additional animation improvements and adjustments!
-Added compatibility for Greenflower Zone!


Balance Changes:

-Nox's double jump speed has been decreased (10.5 -> 9.5).
-The offsets for Nox's idle and crouching hurtboxes have been very slightly adjusted.
-Shifted the hitbox placement for JAB 3 forwards by two pixels.
-The size of FTILT's sweetspot has been slightly increased.
-Shifted the hitbox placement for both of FTILT's hitboxes forwards by two pixels.
-DTILT's sourspot damage has been decreased by 1%, including it's Swift Mode damage output.
-Shifted the hitbox placement for DTILT's sweetspot forwards by 1 pixel.
-UTILT's Swift Mode Knockback has been increased.
-FAIR has 2 additional frames of startup to match it's new animation.
-FAIR's multihits were acting funny during Swift Mode by doing more knockback, this is no longer the case.
-UAIR's first hitbox has a little more hitpause.
-The angle of UAIR's first hit has been adjusted from 90 to 100.
-The overall knockback of UAIR's second hit has been increased.
-The sourspot at the front of BAIR now has one additional frame of lifetime.
-Lowered the damage of DAIR's final hit during Swift Mode by 2%.
-USTRONG's damage output is now equal to FSTRONG's.
-FSPECIAL's finishing hitbox has been moved forwards by 5 pixels.



Every time I update Nox I find myself wanting to say something like, "Ok guys, this is totally his last patch!" But knowing how I roll with these kinds of things, I doubt this will be the case. So until I inevitably decide to update Nox again, take care!
