  • Animal Exhibits now require only 10 Exotic Species (same for the water one)
  • The "Ex Situ Conservation" policy now only grants 5 Exotic Species from creating National Parks.
  • Animal Exhibits now provide Science equal to 35% of their production instead of Gold. This is to make more thematic sense with zoology and stuff and also to make the project a bit more valuable overall. However I've also removed the permanent increase in Tourism from the later eras. (So a bit more useful for science and a bit less useful for culture but still useful for both)
  • Spawn rates have been adjusted a bit. There is a slight increase in the chance of seeing animals spawn in owned features, which should help animals still exist a bit in the late game (but it is not too overwhelming).

Update: 9 Apr, 2023 @ 10:39am

> Further adjusted the spawn rates, every now and then there should be a higher chance for Animals to spawn at National Parks, Preserves (and Gardens if you have the mod)

Update: 23 Mar, 2023 @ 9:03am

> Made a bit of a rebalance, Animals spawn on less turns (but they still spawn quite regularly) and have less combat overall. Hopefully this will make the gameplay a bit less overwhelming while still feeling fun having animals around overall.

Update: 11 Mar, 2023 @ 9:31am

> Actually did the thing I said the last update did
> Also, an issue where sea animals would be preserved at a land tile (inherently not giving its bonuses) was fixed

Update: 11 Mar, 2023 @ 3:56am

- Made it so Animals can no longer plunder trade routes. While it made sense it definitely made trade routes a lot harder to manage than intended, and we can imagine that the lore is that traders are intelligent enough to avoid going right through a place filled with tigers in real life :p

[this might only work on newly spawned animals if you are already in a game]

Update: 26 Feb, 2023 @ 1:48pm

Fixed an issue that was preventing animal Lifespan to be recovered from the Garden's project.

Update: 24 Feb, 2023 @ 5:43am

Fixed a couple of text errors more.

Reworks the Wildlife mod originally made by Shirotora and Deliverator to turn it into a fully fledged Game Mode. Requires the Gathering Storm Expansion Pack, Kublai Khan & Vietnam New Frontier Pass, and the original Wildlife Mod. Since it is a Game Mode it has an icon at the setup screen to enable or disable it all (and the button also enables or disables the original mod)

Concept
I always liked the idea of the Wildlife mod both in Civilization V and Civilization VI because having animals roaming around is a great idea. However it was always sad that other than killing them there wasn't much else to do with them, unlike Civilization: Beyond Earth which has a cool system for its aliens. This Game Mode attempts to enhance the experience by giving you three different routes to interact with Wild Animals: Hunting, making Exhibits for leisure, and Protecting them as local fauna.

It is hugely recommended you check the Civilopedia or this mod's Steam Discussion for all changes and new policies. You can get the gist of it in the main pedia for the game mode. Otherwise you can try it out as you go. (Because of recent updates some of the information in the Steam Discussion might not be up to date when you check it, please be patient)

KNOWN ISSUES: The Bushmeat hard stock limit doesn't show properly at the Top Panel; sadly I can't fix that without making my mod potentially incompatible with any other mod that modifies the Top Panel, so I prefer leaving it as is for now.

NOTE: The mod is probably not compatible with any of the "Pet's" mods as they allow you to use wild animals as units. Not 100% sure though.

Special thanks to Deliverator and Shirotora for the base Wildlife mod, to Lime for testing and some pedias and having fun with making Thule OP, Sukritact for helping clear some of my coding woes, and the VI helpline because they are always such nice people.

> Buffed the Polar bear a bit after reading about the huge beasts they are.
> Fixed a compatibility issue which made the mod not work if you didnt have Rise & Fall or the Ethiopia DLC

Update: 11 Nov, 2022 @ 1:08pm

> Potentially fixed an issue that allowed animals to spawn on top of each other
