10 painful minutes of description-rewriting later: new update for realsies now yaaaaaaaaaay

Update: 8 Aug, 2023 @ 3:00pm

I forgot to save the mod description somewhere else before updating the mod so it got wiped. This was me hoping that rewinding to the last version would bring the description back (it didn't).

0.2.6 - Very Small Tweaks, and Accomodating for Slugbase Updates
I forgot to change the version number ingame; whoops.

Changelog
Incandescent
Changes:
  • Some Fire Fuel foods have had their effects changed - a good part of it is just making things simpler to remember.
Creatures
Changes:
  • So, as it turns out, Icy Blue Lizards weren't working as intended. Now, they do. To keep things simple: I've changed how these lizards' random variation works, so now they can properly be found in various stages of growth, instead of just a mishmash of random features. It's sorta like how Centipedes have size variation, but a Lizard version of that, and a bit more involved. Expect a general difficulty increase from these lizards now that they're working properly.
  • Icy Blue and Freezer Lizard creature relationships have been revisited and expanded a little. They'll react differently to a few creatures now.
World Stuff
Changes:
  • Changed a select few creatures spawns that seemed a little too mean. I admit that I may be worrying about this too much.
Menu Stuff
Additions:
  • The Incandescent section of this mod's Remix Menu now has 3 new settings! One is pretty straightforward, and the other two... revolve around a mechanic I added that most people probably don't care about.
Changes:
  • The Jolly Co-op UI for the Incandescent has been, uh... "improved"? I'm not sure if it's a net improvement (I think I broke something amidst other changes), but the colors of the Incandescent's waistband can now be fully customized thanks to Slugbase. Their colors in the Co-op menu update, but you need to change what Color Mode you're using first (you can switch back to the desired mode after). I tried to find a fix for this issue but couldn't, so sorry about that.

0.2.5 - Feedback Tweaks and Smaller Additions

Changelog
Incandescent
Changes:
  • Heat attacks now use less warmth outside of Arena.
  • Infant Centipedes now provide a bit of warmth when eaten.
Creatures
Additions:
  • Infant Aquapede: The one creature not born from the blizzards, this large baby is present in all time periods that the adult Aquapedes are. Unlike the infants of the normal centipedes and centiwings, Infant Aquapedes have enough charge to fry a Slugcat both in and out of water, and can even kill larger creatures like Eel Lizards underwater! Building up this much charge at their young age takes some real effort, though, giving predators twice as much time to carry or eat this critter.
Changes:
  • Grapple Worms now have a MUCH longer breath time. Anybody reading this can probably guess why this change was made.
World Stuff
Changes:
  • The spawnrates of rocks and spears have been increased from 25% to 37.5%.
  • Grapple Worms have been added to a few areas in Silent Construct.
  • Infant Aquapedes have been thrown into the world - in all campaigns that feature regular Aquapedes. They are by far at their most plentiful in the Incandescent's campaign.

0.2.0 - First Update, and It's BIG!

Changelog
The Incandescent
Additions:
  • Long jumps now go farther and can be used to attack! They're one of Incan's weaker attacks, though, and connecting one causes a brief stun for her, too.
  • Incan gained some extra jump height, which I think is pretty handy.
  • Eating certain plants will temporarily boost the Incandescent's flame in different ways. Look for stuff that glows!
  • Incan's tail flame has new passive flame particles and now emits a colorful fiery mist when using a heat attack.
Changes:
  • Food pip requirements have gone down from 9 + 1 to 8 + 1.
  • All of the Incandescent's existing heat attacks have been nerfed in damage, but heat loss on impact has been reduced to compensate. Flips, especially, will deal VERY little damage now.
  • Backflips now provide extra horizontal speed.
  • The radius of Incan's glow is now larger by default.
  • As a pup, the Incandescent's stats are changed. Her heat attack damage, glow size, and Hypothermia resistance all weaken slightly, but her warmth regeneration speeds up a little.
  • Heat gained from Lanterns, Lantern Mice, and other Incandescents has been cut drastically. However, Lanterns will help dry dampened tail flames!
  • Incan's tail now has a smooth color transition.
World Stuff
Changes:
  • Batflies are completely GONE from most regions, as are edible Popcorn Plants. You'll have to work a bit harder for your food now.
  • Creature spawns have been pretty much entirely redone for the Incandescent's campaign! General creature difficulty and creature quantity have both been increased somewhat, and there are now PLENTY more spawns for Precycles and when the Blizzard hits!
  • "Wait did you say Precycles?" Yup, I sure did! Precycles don't have fancy erratic rain or flooding like they do in other campaigns, here, but they still extend the cycle timer and have extra creature spawns! Their frequency has also been bumped up by varying amounts based on region.
  • Cycle timers are now even shorter than they were before - from -50% duration to -60%.
  • A TON of rooms throughout the world have become more flooded! This should make Incan's water weakness a bit more prevalent, as well as add extra water gameplay because I really think this game needs more of it.
  • The blizzard has grown stronger in several regions, making them colder, windier, and in some cases, into a perpetual presence. By which I mean, one or two regions will be blizzard town 24/7.
  • Farm Arrays is, uh... well. Let's just say Farm Arrays is different now.
  • Silent Construct and Undergrowth should now be mostly traversable for the Incandescent - although it may still be a bit of a challenge for the former.
Creatures
Additions:
  • Icy Blue Lizard: Apparently, the Blue Lizards figured that the best way to brave the cold was to embrace the cold. And, well, I can't say it's not workin' out for them! Frigid crystals grow out of their backs, providing one-time protection against most attacks. They're also much more resistant to stun, and have MUCH larger variation with their stats, making encounters with even single Icy Blues more dangerous.
Icies have sort of formed their own packs, and have become pretty friendly with Strawberry Lizards, too, so I wouldn't bet on them fighting each other... unless one of them catches some food, I suppose.
  • Freezer Lizard: On occasion, the anti-cold defense mechanisms of an Icy Blue will develop at an uncontrollable rate. When this happens, Icy Blue packs gain a leader: the Freezer Lizard.
Possessing sharp senses, incredible mobility, heavy armor, extreme stun resistance, and a terrifying lunge, Freezers make the blizzard itself seem like a minor inconvenience. Being near one is enough to drop your temperature sharply, but if you're farther out, Freezers can spit chunks of condensed frost to cover an area in a freezing mist for a short period of time. The Incandescent is well acquainted with these, but for all of you looking to play this mod: beware the Freezer.
  • Aurorawing: Despite being the most well-adapted creatures for the blizzard, a few Centiwings in the Sky Islands began growing to much larger sizes than usual, with their energy reserves increasing exponentially. What resulted was an overcharged natural disaster that stored excess energy within its scales and served as a dedicated caretaker for infant Centiwings.
Aurorawings are about what you'd expect from an oversized Centiwing, including the unique defensive scales. However, instead of deflecting spears, the highly-volatile Aurorawing scales release a large SHOCK that stuns nearby creatures - after a short delay.
  • Each of these creatures comes with a new Arena unlock, which can be found in the Incandescent's campaign!
Changes:
  • A ton of creatures have received new wintery colors, with one of the most notable examples being the Monster Kelp!
  • Winterized Squidcadas are smol and baby, and can be held in one hand! Their carrying power is also weaker per-cada, but you can offset this by DUAL-WIELDING THEM!!!!!
  • Gourmand Lizards - I'm sorry, Caramel Lizards, now focus less on spitting and more on LUNGING. I thought their spit was pretty freakin' annoying.
They also have considerably more health, and are incredibly resistant to stun.
  • Centiwings and Aquapedes have a lot more size variation now, and with that comes variation in how many food pips they grant. Their colors tend to skew more towards certain hues depending on their size.
  • Big Spiders are tough enough to tank a spear now; they'll need two hits, even with someone like Survivor.
  • Mother Spiders are now WAY tankier, and will release some of its spiders early while stunned.
  • Baby Spiders, including those released by Mother Spiders, are now larger and WAY more aggressive. I would not take any chances with them, if I were you.
  • Miros Vultures will now attack non-Slugcat things. It's a miracle, I know. They now also have a few new laser types! OH, and you'll now have a brief moment of protection against their bites when exiting a pipe!
  • Stowaways... ohohoh, Stowaways... they'll always be awake, now, and... well. Just try killing one and see what happens afterwards. I think you'll like it. (I would greatly recommend having Upward Spear Throws enabled in Remix for this campaign.)
  • Pole Plants are a liiiiittle more aggressive... maybe? I dunno; you be the judge of that. They, for sure, have a tiny bit more health, though; even Survivor will need to stab them twice to kill them.
  • Big Jellyfish can now drop BIG mold on death.
Items
Additions:
  • Ice Crystal: Rarely, damaging a Freezer's armor will cause a piece to fall off, relatively intact. It can then be used as a one-time weapon, dealing 1.34x damage compared to a spear, and piercing through armor for full damage!
Just, uh, be careful with them, 'cuz they're fragile.
Totally unrelated, but try killing a Freezer with only mouthspears.
Changes:
  • Jellyfish and Electric Spears have been neeeeerfed. Yeah, I SEE YOU over there, JoseRainWorld73, stunlocking a Miros Vulture to death with nothing but a stick and a little battery ball. NOT ANYMORE! Jellyfish and Electric Spear stun is now less effective the larger a creature is; however, the stun times will scale back up the lower the victim's health is.
  • Bubbleweed (Bubblegrass?) now provides some heat while in use, and will slow down the rate at which the Incandescent's flame will dampen underwater.
  • Big Slime Mold now spawns naturally in Silent Construct.
