Update: 25 Sep, 2023 @ 1:47am

A rather chonky update.
BUGFIXES
Combined Arms will no longer grant its bonus to attacks like Frost bomb that don't deal damage.
Abilities should no longer be granted several times when doing multi-part missions.
Lead By Example effect should now have proper localization on the recepients of the effect.

ENHANCEMENTS
Officer abilities that are out of charges should no longer appear on the ability bar.
Have A Spare ability will now not appear if it's not useable.
Patch Up ability now clears bleeding status effect (and configurable other status effects).
Introducing difficulty scaling: AP Cost, Salary, and mission count, and training duration should now scale between difficulties. This is controlled by config. The default values are that all difficulties below legend get a 0.66 multiplier for those quantities.
Costs of the GTS Unlocks also now change between Legend and non-Legend.
Changes should apply automatically if you switch difficulty mid-campaign, but on-going officer training will probably not get its length shortened.
Logging has been turned off. This mod logs quite extensively stuff in tactical, and so far nobody ever ran into an issue with that, so this mod's logging is now turned off by default.

NEW FEATURES
The mod now changes soldier ranks based on officer level and soldier rank, inspired by LW1 naming scheme. This takes priority over Iridar's Rank Replacer names, but it is configurable. If this option is disabled, then officers will either have the usual rank naming scheme, or that from Iridar's mod.
A new ability is introduced: Born Leader. Soldiers with this ability will train for officer training 70% of the usual time, and can use Command and Emergency Command without ending the turn. This ability is injected to the pool of random AWC abilities. In addition, classes with curated Random Ability Decks, can get this ability added to their decks. The update includes support for the core Proficiency classes, some of its addons, and ANGUISH. Amalgamation classes use the random AWC pool, so it's supported by default. If you are a mod author, or a mod user that wants to add this ability to your class deck - please see the comments in the XComClassData configs. This ability will randomly make some of your soldiers more attractive officer candidates, which makes the game more random and exciting.

Found (hopefully) one last place where the word "Cadet" was being used, and replaced it to "Tactical Officer".

Update: 30 Jul, 2023 @ 7:25am

Found two places I left the word "Cadet" in the localization and updated it to "Tactical Officer".

Update: 29 Jul, 2023 @ 6:26am

The following has been updated:

1. UI improvements in the Choose Ability screen:
a. Both ability icons will show properly, and not only the highlighted one.
b. The blank rectangle in the right panel now has an image in it.
c. The screen will now show correct AP cost for the training.
2. The "Cadet" rank has been renamed "Tactical Officer" - this is to help people who don't read mod descriptions and don't know why they can't start Hunt The Chosen covert ops. Maybe this way they'll understand this is related to officers.
3. Added an optional config (set to true by default) that controls whether officers should unequip items when going into training.
4. Added potential future compatibility with other mods that may or may not change the GTS' "needs attention" function. Currently this is irrelevant.

... and forgot to include the UPK in the previous updates, so this should fix ability icons.

Update: 1 Jul, 2023 @ 8:48am

Fixed an error in the previous update that would make the tutorial show up all the time in existing saves.
Fixed a text error in the tutorial pop up.

Update: 1 Jul, 2023 @ 6:06am

The following has been updated:
1. Effect texts - there may have been an issue where some effect texts did not give info correctly. This should now be better. Credit to Iridar for "discovering" this common pitfall.
2. Chosen Sabotage - can now happen at most a configurable number of times in the game. By default, it's 2.
3. Tutorial pop up added: upon completing the second mission in the game, a tutorial pop up will appear and explain various features of the mod which are often overlooked by people TLDRing this mod description. This is basically copied word-for-word from CI's tutorials' so credit to them and to RustyDios for showing me how to do this.
4. Mission gates rebalance - the mission gates for training level 1-3 are reduced by 1.
5. Anti-Officer bonding: it is now impossible to bond two officers, or put a bondmate of an officer in officer training. This is because it is normally impossible to bring two officers in one mission, so this prevents the player from doing silly things. A useful comment on how to achieve this was communicated to me by Zelfana.
