The Old World Update
This huge update includes the entire revamp of the Old World campaign map weather effects and lighting. Like with IE and IEE, I rebuilt from scratch the environment mosaic of the map, reason why it took a bit of time!
I won’t go into the specific details describing every area and subarea. Generally, you can expect pretty much the very same vibe the IE & IEE map have, but on a much larger, magnified scale. This allowed me to add lots of variable weather to the specific geographical areas. For example, Norsca is not entirely a blizzard, but has multiple different snow effects, just to mention one.
I’d say it’s basically 95% done, there’s a few “holes” on the map that I still need to tweak or add. But they are barely visible. The map is ready to go!
Big thanks to ChaosRobie and the whole TOW team. Working on this update had me staring the TOW map a lot and made made me appreciate even more how incredible the map is.
Enjoy!

Pushed an update i had been playing on for a while. Don't have a specific list of changes, but the main thing is a general revamp of the overal lighting of several region, eg. Empire is gloomier, Nehekhara and Badlands have a more scorching feel, northern Mts of Mourn have a more glacial atmosphere.
This is all to make this mod consistent with my Battle Weather Overhaul mod i've been working on for ages, but is starting to close in to release... soonTM

Update: 24 Aug, 2024 @ 11:44am

Gave the Warpstone Desert a slightly more hazardous feel, with a greener tint and proper warp-ash falling from the sky.

FOG UPDATE:
So after multiple demands and feedback from you all, i tried tweaking the fog, improving visual clarity while still maintaining the vibe i was going with my mod.

Basically, what i tried now is keeping the exact same fog values i modified, but reverting all the "Clear Distances" values of every environment to vanilla levels.
These "clear distance" values basically regulate from what height or camera angle will the fog be cleared.
I reverted these numbers all back to originals from the base game. I'll see where to go from here also based on feedback, and i'll probably slightly tweak certain areas again.

I did already slightly change some levels because, for example, having mountains under a blizzard but with perfect visiblity just feels completely off to me and its what i disliked about the base game.
So in order to retain the vibe i wanted to give to the environments, i currently tweaked the following areas to re-up the fog levels a bit from the vanilla values:
- Northern World's Edge Mountains
- Norsca
- Mountains of Mourn
- Albion

Let me know what you all think!

Updated for 5.0
I did some slight tweaks here and there.
I tweaked the lighting and the vibe of some areas, like Lustria, Sylvania, Kuresh and the Southlands.

I also added Monogod Chaos Skyboxes compatible with the campaign map to the appropriate areas in the N and S wastes. So stuff like Bloodfire Falls and Blood Marshes have a Khornate skybox, Plain of Illusions has a Tzeentchian skybox ecc. You can't really see the sky on the campaign map, but it does affect the light it emits on the surface. So there is a slighty difference.

I also did slightly tweak the fog intensity levels of some areas, but not too much. I see many feel the fog is too disturbing and i understand, however i strongly suggest using the Improved Campaign Camera mod. I myself dont like how my mod looks with the Vanilla camera tilt, as it does make the fog too disruptive.
Either way, i'll keep tweaking it here and there and see if i can strike the right balance. This mod still puts immersion, lore and atmosphere above gameplay and visual clarity.

Update: 5 Feb, 2024 @ 4:36pm

Just a quick update, with multiple small tweaks here and there. I didnt write them all down this time.
Most importantly, i realized after quite some time (like 1 year) that i have been playing with the Lighting setting on low. Switched to High and it did change how everything look (for the worst IMHO). Either way, i tweaked a lot of stuff accordingly.

Nothing too crazy this time!

Update: 14 Jan, 2024 @ 9:13am

Due to populare demaind, i reverted the camera changes back to the Vanilla values.

I do recommend using the Improved Campaign Camera for those who weren't bothered by the tilt.

Update: 13 Jan, 2024 @ 11:06am

Very big update that revamps old areas, adds tons of new environments and essentially completes and covers the entire world, IEE included. Bar continuous tweaks and improvements i’ll keep doing, this update essentially “finalizes IE and IEE. Now on to The Old World…

Before going into the changes, another big major change included in this update is a change to the Campaign Camera angle. From the beginning, I’ve modded using my own personal campaign camera. Everything I was doing was based on my camera view and not the vanilla one. I realized that the fog levels I add (which are sometimes intense) are really made much worse by the vanilla cam. As such, I decided to integrate my personal camera mod in this mod, as the two essentially go together and have been designed together.

CHANGES:
The minimum angle of the campaign camera is now 48° instead of 35°. This gives it a more top-down view which is vastly more suited for the visual changes and weather effects this mods adds, including the fog intensity. Everything I did was using this view and I realized that one needed the other.

TWEAKS
- Forests of the Moon now also have magical blue embers, for a greater Yin feel.
- Mountains of Heaven have a more frigid feel, with abundant snowfall and brief bursts of wind.
- Northern Darklands now also have the redder, more hellish feel of the central areas.
- Slight tweaks to the Kuresh lighting and to the Galleons Graveyard.
- Fixed and tweaked Chaos Waste environment sizes, so they correctly portray the desired effects.
- N. Mts of Mourne and the Ancient Giant Lands now have a more glacial, ice-age feel.
- Tweaked the environment sizes of the Isthmus and of the north-western swamps of Lustria.
- Both the Southland and Lustria Capes now are mistier and with light rain.
- The eastern Oblast and the Goromandy are under a more intense and violent snowstorm compared to the rest of Kislev.

AREAS REVAMPED

ULTHUAN
The environments of Ulthuan have been largely revamped.
- Nagarythe is still a barren wasteland, dark and with ashfall.
- Tryanoc, Ellyrion and Eataine are bright sunny paradises.
- Avelorn and Chrace are sunny but have a more verdant and lush feel.
- Saphery is bright and sunny, with a feint blue tint and magical embers.
- Cothique is misty and with slight rain.
- Yvresse is very misty, visibility is low.

NAGGAROTH
The Land of Chill has been revamped in its entirety, to the point that its pretty much all new environments.
- Titan Peaks have a vulcanic, ash-ridden feel.
- The Bleak Coast, the Sunken Lands, the Forbidden Coast and central Naggaroth have a gloomy feel and varying degrees of intense rainfall.
- The western deserts are scorching bright.
- The Witchwood has some embers rising and few magical spores.
- The Obsidian Peaks have an vulcanic, ashy feel and light rainfall.
- The Iron Mountains are more frigid and have some low snowfall.
- Northern Naggaroth, the Tundra region ranging from Ironfrost Glacier to the Deadwood is bright and under heavy and violent snowfall and blizzards.

NEW AREAS
- large oceanic areas now also have their own weather. Most of the WHFB Oceans are very hostile and dangerous (the names are quite indicative). As such, large parts of the Far Ocean, the Great Oceans, the Tarantula Coast/Zarmuda Triangle (IEE) are under varying degrees of fog and rainfall.

- Warhammer “Korea” (Ihan in IEE) now shares the same rainfall of eastern Cathay. Northern Ihan, that gives into the Wastes, has both rain and ash.

- Gunpowder Road is a new environment around Nan Gau, with some feint ashfall and a more greyish feel.

- Eastern Colonies have a more tropical sunny, vibe, though still surrounded by mist. Tor Elasor is further away and under rainfall.

- Northern Nippon is darker and rainy. Central and southern Nippon are bright, peaceful and sunny.

- The Lost Isles of Elithis are very remote islands shrouded by mist.
