Update 49

Major Armour Variant Update

- For this update, I rearrange most of the armour variation in a much more systematic way just like what I did on helmet. However, the change is less noticeable than the one on helmet.
- The new variants allow me to create more variations systematically. Originally CA only put five variations in each variant file but I am now making 5x5=25 variations.
- This also eliminate the problem which sometimes some armours only appear on certain tunic/certain colour of tunic.
- I am also going to remove the greenish bronze armour from WoS.
- Unlike the Greek, Carthaginian will not have a unit with feathers on everyone’s helmet (only 50%).

The follow units has been edited (might not be armour only):
- Greek Officer (Thureos and Celtic swords added)
- Carthaginian General Bodyguards
- Carthaginian Sacred Band (and Cavalry)
- Carthaginian White Shield Hoplites
- Carthaginian Noble Cavalry
- (Greek) Hoplites (and Eastern)
- Thureos Spears (and Eastern)
- Greek Marine Corps (and Eastern)
- Greek Shock Troopers
- Greek Veteran Hoplites
- Greek Veteran Cavalry
- Hippeus Lancers
- Royal Thorax Swordsmen(and Spears)
- Shield Bearers
- Royal Peltasts
- Foot Companions
- Hellenic Royal Guards
- Colchian Nobles
- Pontic Royal Guards
- Royal Pontic Cavalry
- Pontic Swordsmen
- Pontic Peltasts
- Bosporan Archers
- Cimmerian Noble Lancers
- Cimmerian Noble Infantry
- Silver Shield Swordsmen
- Silver Shield Pikemen
- Indian Elephant
- Indian Armoured Elephant

For the Spartans, beard is added, and most importantly, helmets are changed.

They now mostly wear Pilos/Corinthian helmets. As you guys may know the Spartans mostly wore Pilos from historical sources in this period. Before that, they wore Corinthian helmet and its variants. The exact helmets the Spartan used in this later period is actually unknown and now I have decided to stick to those two.

And the Spartans now use Iberian swords which are shorter than xiphos.
- Spartan standard bearer
- Spartan Officer(inf and cav)
- Spartan Hoplites
- Spartan Veteran Hoplites
- Royal Spartans
- Heroes of Spartans
- Spartan Pikemen
- Royal Spartan Pikemen
- Spartan Light Cavalry
- Spartan Marines

Armour/Helmet Changes
- WoS bronze armour added to Italian Greek bronze cuirass variation
- Increased crested attic helmets in late_attic variation

Update: 11 Oct, 2015 @ 10:16am

Current direction for future updates:
- Remove splited horse hair crest on vanilla helmet
- Create units with historical colour if possible
- Feathers on helmet will always have different colour from the crest
- Add short sleeves tunic the Greek troops
- Remove Chalcidian helmet from later period(non-citizen) or well-equipped troops(in process) as it is becoming out-dated in this time frame (not used by mainland Greek actually?). Increase the ratio of Thracian helmet for later period troops, improve crest type and ratio

Update 48

As this update involves tons of new variation file, bugs might appear. Please report if you encounter any bug.

Major Helmet Change (crest and type ratio)

- (Once again)Carthaginian Helmet change (crest type change and colour black removal): base on my source black is not likely to be an common colour for Carthaginian, and I take this chance to improve the crest type and helmet ratio

- Hellenic Helmet change: Remove Chalcidian helmet from later period or well equipped troops(in process), increase the ratio of Thracian helmet for later period troops, improve crest type and ratio

New Unit:
- Royal Pergamene Cavalry: Historically they are identical to Companion Cavalry in terms of equipment. I use the cloak from WoS and white and purple feathers crest to distinguish them from the Companion. They are also in bronze armours and with armoured horses.

Unit Change:
- Thessalian Cavalry (Skirmisher): quick reload added, disciplined added
- Armoured Libyan Horse Skirmisher: disciplined added, heat resistance added
- Hippeus Lancers: Helmet and tunic edited

- Agema Cavalry
- Hellenic Cataphracts
- Hellenic Melee Cataphracts
- Hellenic Foot Cataphracts
- Thessalian Cavalry (both type)

Update 47

Major pikemen and successor cavalry update

Unit Change:
- Companion Cavalry (Historical) and Ptolemaic Cavalry - new skin using horse with no armour and with sandy-brown cloak and white tunic based on historical sources (I know they might decorate their cloak with purple but there is no suitable vanilla cloak, and the “Roman” cloak creates least tearing). With boots and new configuration of helmets. A mix with linothorax and bronze armour. e3tunic(short sleeve/roman tunic) added. HP – 10 due to removal of horse armour but the speed of the unit should be increased. No plan on changing the unit weight. Unit price and upkeep reduced for Ptolemaic Cavalry

Update 44

Hi Guys, months have passed since the last update, I gotta admit I’m kind of abandoned this mod like CA abandon this game.

Recently I have played Attila and I find that I really don’t like the units from that period. Sometimes I play Napoleon and Shogun but still I find I like Rome II most.

For this mod, there is actually still an “update list” with at least 20 items. Some of them are 100% feasible while some not quite/too fancy.
At the moment, I plan to replace all the old and small aspis in the main campaign by the new and better aspis from the WoS campaign.

Bear in mind this is a “one man” mod.
Here are answers for some frequently asked questions:
1. Spartan swords and mail armoured units – New Spartan units are always in my mind but the point is: information about later Spartan units is too limited. My units are based/loosely based on books (well researched I believe) but I can’t find concrete information about them. And the Spartan special force? Not planned now. If you can give me any good info about them I will be willing to add so.
2. OP unit and AOR system – The reason why I make those “OP” units is that first, they existed, and second, there are also “OP” units for other culture, e.g. Roman and Celts sword units. What I try to do is to limit their number in one army, e.g. 2 max. AOR system – I always think that the system is kind of dumb especially for mercenary. Mercenary can travel and they have to find jobs anyway. So that I put some of the units in the normal building recruitment system is to simplify the matter somehow.

And yes, I make Carthage very strong.

Lastly I just want to thank you guys for supporting this mod. I am really satisfied with 4000+ subscribers.
