v1.8

- ADDED - new Congo faction (ANC) - Armée Nationale Congolaise (jbm_i_congo_anc)

Another new faction for the Congo Crisis, the Armée Nationale Congolaise (ANC), the army of the recognised government. A mix of modern Belgian weapons (FN FAL, FN MAG) and older weapons (FN-49s and FN-DA1s). Mostly clad in olive green but paracommandos are dressed in Belgian jigsaw, and some units are dressed in Portuguese Lizard (historically correct).

v1.7

- ADDED - Belgian faction (jbm_b_belgian)
- ADDED - Katanga faction (jbm_b_katanga)
- ADDED - Lukin's French headgear added with permission. Thanks again Lukin!
- ADDED - Free World Armoury and Anglo Stahl as dependencies

Two new factions added for the Congo Crisis

- Belgian paratroops, lightly equipped for the Dragon Rouge and Dragon Noir drops they did in 1964. A lot of smocks and bandoliers, and some vehicles - their own jeeps and some "liberated" trucks they found.

- Katangan gendarmerie for the seccessionist state of Katanga. A mix of mostly Belgian uniforms and mostly ex-Belgian weapons. Congolese troops with a number of Belgian or mercenary officers. FN FAL is the most common weapon, many more poorly equipped gendarmes carried Lee Enfields so I've used those too. A full range of soft vehicles (they used a lot of jeeps.)

MAT-49s as placeholder for the Vigneron SMGs commonly carried.

v1.6

- ADDED - South African Defence Force (1970s) ( jbm_b_sadf)
- ADDED - truck to Rhodesian Security forces

- FIXED - Rhodesian landrovers no longer have Australian insignia

- CHANGED - all factions now have JBM prefix to appear together in editor

First version of a South African faction - infantry and soft vehicles for the 1970s period with supporting air transport from Pumas and Dakotas. Three unit types available:

a. regular infantry, nutria brown uniforms with R1 rifles and FN MAG.

b. recce troops, these would often dress in the uniforms of whatever country they were operating in to help avoid detection. Mine here are equipped for Angola and dressed as FAPLA.

c. 32 Battalion. Portuguese-speaking ex-FNLA Angolan soldiers recruited by the South Africans to fight (mostly) SWAPO. They operated across the border conducting unconventional operations and would often dress as their enemies or FAPLA and use mostly Russian weapons which is how I've equipped them here. When operating inside South West Africa they typically used regular South African weapons and uniforms to minimise blue on blue incidents.

Placeholder webbing which I'll replace when I have something better!

v1.5

- ADDED - SWAPO/PLAN faction ( jbm_o_swapo )
- ADDED - F1 French Lizard camo uniforms to 60s mercenaries faction (texture by Henriksson, used with permission)

PLAN (the People's Liberation Army of Namibia) was the military wing of SWAPO. SWAPO/PLAN fought for decades against the South Africans for Namibian independence.

SWAPO/PLAN was lightly equipped with eastern bloc weaponry and operated inside Namibia supported by external bases in Angola. These bases were attacked in cross-border operations by the South African Defence Force in several actions. SWAPO bases were strongly defended and the appropriate heavy weapons are available in the editor for base defence scenarios. The actual guerrillas inside Nambia were lightly equipped and relied upon difficult foot or occasionally river infiltration for supply and reinforcement. Uniforms are a mix of rain pattern and cuban lizard camo, olive or tan fatigues and civilian clothes.

v1.4

- ADDED - add Cuban faction for Angola ( jbm_o_cuban).

- FIXED - [Rhodesian] fixed passenger/crew positions for Cheetah helicopter

This release adds the Cuban armed forces for the Angolan Civil War. Cuban forces first arrived in 1975 and remained in Angola until 1991 eventually numbering about 60,000 troops.

This faction is fully fleshed out with a full range of vehicles, static weapons, helicopters and aircraft. The Cubans were equipped with Soviet equipment common to the era, some of it older, others modern for its time. Troops are dressed similarly to their FAPLA allies in mostly Cuban grey lizard camo.

v1.31

- ADDED - (Rhodesia) incorporated with permission Jakes/Sultry's textures (RAR/RLI/Selous Scouts berets, Rhodesian camo bandana, Dakota, 4 uniform types for additional variety)
- ADDED - (Rhodesia) added RAR and Selous Scout officers

- CHANGED - reduced size of Selous Scout sections from 10 to 8 men (more historically accurate)

Update: 6 Jul, 2024 @ 7:32am

v1.3

- ADDED - Rhodesian Security Forces faction (jbm_b_rhodsf)

Characters and groups for the Rhodesian Light Infantry (RLI), Rhodesian African Rifles (RAR), and the Selous Scouts (these are mostly dressed in guerrilla attire as pseudo guerrillas as they were called when scouting and infiltrating guerrilla groups and networks.) Some trackers in shorts from the limited plausible civilian clothing options available to us (maybe one day we will have decent short options) but mostly in Rhodesian brushstroke camo.

The infantry are fleshed out in detail but have limited accompanying vehicles and aircraft (specifically Land rovers, Dakotas, Cheetah helicopters and a T-55). Very late in the war Rhodesia was passed some T-55s by South Africa, I've added them as a curio and 'might have been', historically they never ended up seeing any combat. If the relevant vehicles and aircraft ever end up being available without needing a ridiculous number of mods I'll add them too.

RAR troopers and African Selous Scouts have Shona and Ndebele names.

v1.2

- ADDED - added new faction Rhodesian guerrillas (JBM_O_RHODGUER)
- ADDED - static group teams for Alive

- CHANGED - renamed flags to fix name conflict with CFP mod
- CHANGED - some renaming and hiding of faction backpacks etc to prevent clutter in Arsenal (general housekeeping)

This release adds the Rhodesian guerrillas of the 1970s.

Two guerrilla movements fought in the Patriotic Front.

Zimbabwe People's Revolutionary Army - ZIPRA, armed wing of the ZAPU party
Zimbabwe African National Liberation Army - ZANLA, armed wing of the ZANU party

Custom names (Shona and Ndebele names). Uniforms are a mix of military and civilian clothing. Weapons are mostly Soviet bloc but some guerillas have captured FN-FALs or G3s or old Mosin-Nagant rifles. Machine guns are RPKs, RPDs and PKs.

ZIPRA had formed a conventional force in Zambia by the end of the war, preparing for a conventional invasion of Rhodesia that never happened. This had T34s, BRDMs and D30 artillery and some other heavy equipment so these are available in the faction in the editor for mission makers but I've not placed any vehicles in groups to prevent Alive from spawning them. The actual war was fought on foot for the guerillas. This is an old school faction, no body armour, no night vision, iron sights, no weapon optics except for scopes on the occasional SVD.

There's a full range of static weapons in the editor reflecting the heavy weapons the guerrillas used to defend their external bases in Zambia and Mozambique. Occasionally they used mortars inside Rhodesia itself but mostly they used light weapons and mines.

v1.1

- ADDED - FAPLA faction to Angola (JBM_O_FAPLA)

- FIXED - changed preview pics for African soldiers in mercenary faction (previews now show as African!)

FAPLA, the Angolan army. These are mostly dressed in Cuban grey lizard camo and equipped with mostly eastern bloc weaponry. A full selection of armour, vehicles and static weapons is included.
