Update: 27 Mar @ 8:33am

  • New Feature: User Settings!
    • User Settings allow you to micro-manage which Chroma 2 features your players have access to. There are 3 User Levels: Everyone, Power Users, and Admins.
    • You can add any number of Power Users from your active players, and you can make an entire clan power users if you want!
    • I've tested this pretty extensively, but if you find any instances where players can do things they shouldn't be able to, or vise-versa, please let me know.
  • Added a Refresh Button to the Modify menu.
  • Added an Apply Defaults button individually to the Color Parameters and Scalar Parameters bars for each material in a Theme.
  • Various GUI tweaks for usability & clarity

Update: 6 Mar @ 6:49pm

  • New Feature: Server Themes! You can now save your Local themes to your server and share them with your community. Some notes about server themes:
    • In Chroma Classic, if you needed to update a server theme, you would need to interact with all of the buildings using that theme separately. Those days are gone! Now you can simply update your server theme, and all buildings and deco pieces using it will be updated the next time they load on a player's client.
    • Using Server Themes is also literally hundreds of times more efficient in terms of network traffic. Clients receive all the data for server themes upon logging into the server, and whenever your server themes are updated, meaning they only need the name of the theme in order to apply all the correct visuals to an object. Sending just the name of a Server Theme along with a couple other bits of crucial theme data takes a string of about about 20-30 characters. A Chroma String for an entire theme can be anywhere from 500 to 10,000 characters. A building can have anywhere from 1 to a dozen themes. So, uh. Use Server Themes.
    • Like Local Themes, Server Themes come in 3 flavors: Building Set Themes, Freeform Building Themes, and Decoration Themes.
    • If you have access to the Chroma 2 Manage menu, you can upload a Local theme to your server, and download a Server theme to save as a Local theme. However, only Local themes can be imported and exported via Chroma Strings. Similarly, you cannot save a theme directly from a building or decoration directly to the server. These limitations are in place to keep the network traffic around Server Themes to a minimum.
    • Now that server themes are implemented, more granular user permissions are coming soon to give you more ways to decide who on your server has access to which themes.
  • Fixed an issue where items in the Modify GUI extended off the bottom of the screen without a scroll bar appearing

Update: 4 Mar @ 7:30pm

  • Server Performance Optimizations
  • Limited theme names to 26 characters to prevent GUI issues
  • Added new Global Settings:
    • Enable Scalar Parameters. This enables or disables editing values such as Roughness, Metallic Strength, etc. Uncheck this if you want a simpler experience closer to Classic Chroma found in Emberlight.
    • Enable Building Modification. Allows players to modify buildings with Chroma.
    • Enable Decoration Modification. Allows players to modify decorations with Chroma.
  • Added an Advanced Properties tab to the Modify UI when modifying deco pieces. Currently this only has one option: Scenery Mode, which, when checked, prevents a deco object from falling out of render distance based on player proximity. Use this on placeable scenery to prevent it from disappearing and ruining your IMMERSHUN, but use it carefully. Like don't plant a whole deco forest and then use this on every single tree. Or do that, I dunno. You do you.
  • Added some help text to Global Settings for clarity on what each setting does

Update: 27 Feb @ 1:55pm

Changes and Additions

  • Fixed an issue where normal players could modify anyone's buildings with Chroma 2 if the Normal Player accessibility option was checked in Manage/Settings. Yikes.
  • Added Building Set Themes! You can now create, save and apply themes for specific building sets. A structure can have 1 theme for each building set found on that structure, and 1 Freeform Building Theme. Decorations can only have 1 Decoration theme. The following modded building sets are currently supported:
    • Stygian Building Kit, Warrior Mutator Wood, Murayama, Black Iceblock, SVS Extended Pillars, Sand and Stone: Murun, Sand and Stone: Ardashir, Woodglass, Exiles Extreme Mammoth Bone, LBPRAF Tavern Set, Ranch Foundations, Firce & Ice: Serpentment Set, Fire & Ice: Frost Temple set
    • Note that you can create a Freeform theme to modify any modded building set not yet supported as a Building Set theme!
  • You can now move Themes up and down in a structure's list of applied Themes, with Themes higher up in the list having higher priority if multiple themes contain the same material.

Known Issues:

  • For some reason, the Tier 1 Thatched Roof in particular won't tint. Very strange.

Update: 24 Feb @ 11:18pm

  • Added checks to make sure Theme names can't contain special characters, to prevent you from ruining everything
  • Material Scalar values will now show their default values in faint text to the left of the current value, for those times when you go crazy with one value and have regrets
