So if anyone would try this mod together with Rome HD mods, see that this mod is before those mods then it still works.
Kvs1989 28 Jun, 2022 @ 6:57pm

@Ta Mo ☸ . In the Grand Campaign, Baktria is renamed into Graeco-Baktrian Empire.
Only in the Empire Divided DLC, I called them "Province of Bakthar" since this was the name of the sasanian Satrapy and the Graeco Baktrian Empire did not exist anymore.
Alka 12 May, 2018 @ 12:52pm
Baktrias name was actually already historically accurate. Greco Bactria was a kingdom that lasted for hundreds of years in the region we now know as Afghanistan and Central asia. "province of Bakhtar" just feels wrong when youre conquering and creating a huge empire as them.
Renan 26 Mar, 2018 @ 9:08pm
Hey man, this is awesome, what about a mod that changes the political parties name, "sea horse clan", "tribe of the moon", yeah fuck those names!
General Nathanael Greene 20 Mar, 2018 @ 1:32pm
Hello again Nox! I was wondering, would it be much trouble to request a submod to rename "Roman Republic" to "S.P.Q.R."? I ask, because it might make the Roman faction seem more natual if you switch from republic to empire? Totally fine to ignore this, but I thought i'd mention it. Thank you!
General Nathanael Greene 15 Mar, 2018 @ 4:00pm
Great, thank you.
Nox  [author] 15 Mar, 2018 @ 2:56pm
@Emperor Basil II Thanks. The Submod should be working now.
General Nathanael Greene 15 Mar, 2018 @ 1:17pm
Hello! Thanks for this useful mod + its latest update. One question though: The faction rename submod (That makes Aurelian's rome become the roman empire) doesnt seem to be working. Am i doing something wrong, or is this a bug? Regardless, thanks!
Nox  [author] 13 Mar, 2018 @ 6:56pm
Mod is now updated. Have fun folks.
BENNI.RoR  [author] 13 Mar, 2018 @ 6:49pm
Gotta go fast.
Nox  [author] 10 Feb, 2018 @ 11:35am
@Legionarius Technically you can download the PackFileManager, open the .pack File and edit the Files and save it as a new mod. If you struggle with the PFM watch/read Tutorials to get used to it.
Renan Legio 10 Feb, 2018 @ 7:59am
I would like to change the name of Roman Republic to Rome, Lacedaemon to Sparta and Knossos to Cretan League, how do I do that?
Mr. Bluecoat 7 Feb, 2018 @ 5:18am
Of course!
Nox  [author] 6 Feb, 2018 @ 12:55pm
@Mr. Bluecoat Thank you very much.
Mr. Bluecoat 6 Feb, 2018 @ 12:16pm
I love this. Wonderful work. Amazing how much a few names change things. XD That wasn't sarcasm.
Nox  [author] 16 Dec, 2017 @ 3:14am
@Emperor Basil II No this mod is not dynamic. (It's in the description btw.) Like in the base game, Rome will remain "Rome" even if it's government is changed. (Sadly) CA did not give us any opportunity to change faction names during the campaign.
That's why i created a submod for Aurelian, to at least let him be kind of dynamic. However, I won't do submods, for every specific Government type. It's not that hard to change a single faction name via modding, you can try that on your own ;)
General Nathanael Greene 15 Dec, 2017 @ 10:43pm
Hello! thank you for this mod, but i had one question: sorry if this was already asked, but what happens to, say, the Roman Republic name if in game you convert to an empire? does it change to Roman Empire still? Thanks!
Sanakan 2 Dec, 2017 @ 11:42am
Thanks guys, very interesting (at least for me lol)
BENNI.RoR  [author] 2 Dec, 2017 @ 11:02am
@Sanakan What Nox said is basically right, but I am pretty sure they called their empire "Basileia Seleuceia" or Seleucia or anything amongst that lines.

Antiochos III, the Seleucid king/emperor who first fought against the Romans assumed the title "Basileius Megas" which is Greek for Great King.

Talking about the Greek populace in the Seleucid Empire, they probably just call themselves Macedonians as Nox pointed out.
Nox  [author] 2 Dec, 2017 @ 10:34am
@Sanakan We always try to find the most apropriate English name for the factions, based on the historical knowledge we have today and their present Geographie (Governemt, Politics etc.)
English was heavily influenced by Latin, therefore most of the names we gave to the several factions, are quite similar, to what Romans would've called them.
But if there is no appropriate nomenclature for the faction in English, like recently "Baktria", we will use the native Names.
Nox  [author] 2 Dec, 2017 @ 10:33am
@Sanakan Like the Ptolemaic Kingdom (Ptolemaeus), The Seleucid Empire, was named after one of Alexander's Generals. Seleukos and his descendants. (I prefer the Latin Names) Probably the inhabitants of the Seleucid Empire simply did not have a "personal nationality", most of them would've simply considred themselves as part of their ethnos, like "Greeks" "Macedons" or simply one of the former eastern Satrapies.
However, the Empire is ruled by the Dynasty of Seleukos. "Seleucid Empire"
It's quite similar to the persians, for example the Sassanid Empire, took their Name from their eponymous ancestor Sasan.
Sanakan 2 Dec, 2017 @ 9:13am
Hey guys, great mod, it kinda refreshes the entire grand campaign. Out of curiosity, since you guys researched a lot about nomenclature, did you ever came across on what the Seleucids actually called themselves? The Romans called them "Macedonians" or "Syria", the jews called them "Greek Empire" or something like that...but well, those were just foreigners.

The Update is here folks. Have fun! :)
Menwulf 30 Nov, 2017 @ 8:09am
thanks :D
Nox  [author] 30 Nov, 2017 @ 8:05am
@Menwulf Of course i will. Should be ready in the next few days.
Menwulf 30 Nov, 2017 @ 7:57am
Will you update this mod for empire divided?
snpolek 11 Nov, 2017 @ 1:05pm
thanks
Nox  [author] 10 Nov, 2017 @ 4:01pm
@lenjeff Nop sry. Rome was only considered as an Empire, after Augustus became the first Emperor.
It is actually not that hard, to rename factions. Try making it by yourself with the Assembly Kit. Just google around a bit.
snpolek 10 Nov, 2017 @ 3:07pm
can the roman republic become the roman empire?

Nox  [author] 6 Nov, 2017 @ 9:01am
Greetings Folks. A new Rome 2 Campaign /Patch is approaching (look at social Media). I will make sure this mod will still be working and keep an eye on the new Campaign. Maybe it will need some changes ;)
That's it.
~Nox
BENNI.RoR  [author] 1 Nov, 2017 @ 6:08pm
@WANGETHEMIGHTY No problem. It was actually quite fun to do all the research and stuff.
Imperator Romanus 1 Oct, 2017 @ 10:59am
@Rectal Anarchy you are completely right. You've done the best you can with what CA gave you, and it really improves the gamplay experience. Thanks.
Aurielius 13 Aug, 2017 @ 8:06pm
I found that the name choices in most respects quite a reasonable given that of some minor factions are mostly fictitious. For me at least it improved the immersion, so thanks.
Titamik 12 Aug, 2017 @ 8:05am
i mean debate
Titamik 12 Aug, 2017 @ 8:05am
that was probably the most civilized comment I have ever read on the internet
BENNI.RoR  [author] 6 Aug, 2017 @ 9:22pm
@justinsane11 I think that's pretty much it. From my point of view, it just looks like you don't like the mod because of... whatever. Reasons. I don't know. If you are still not satisfied, I can explain every single name change to you and elaborate why we changed it.
BENNI.RoR  [author] 6 Aug, 2017 @ 9:21pm
@justinsane11 To round this long-ass comment up: we did TONS of research. And we had to do compromises too. Like Nova Carthago. It never existed, just like the dubious "Persia" faction. So we made compromises and gave those factions rather neutral names.
Other names are just very weird. "Seleucid" for example. What does that mean? Shouldn't it be "Seleucid Empire" ? I might be German, but my English is not the worst, but I would guess that "Seleucid" is an adjective. Or did they miss an "S" and it was supposed to be "Seleucids" ?
Doesn't matter. We improved it.
BENNI.RoR  [author] 6 Aug, 2017 @ 9:21pm
@justinsane11 How often does it happen that two "one-region-factions" declare war on each other and just end up with swapped territories? EVERY SINGLE TIME! That was not the case in Medieval 2. if you know the game, you know that wars tend to very long and often tedious. You have to carefully plan each step. It is next to impossible to steamroll a faction after the early phase in the campaign. Now look at Rome 2. CA HAD to implement many "compromise-factions" or "balancing-factions" and had to adjust the start regions so that the game would stay sort of balanced. And whou could blame them? It is probably really hard to incorporate the randomness and unpredictability of real history into a game, especially if the A.I. is so lackluster.
