Is this still needed or did they fix the issue with a patch?

Assuming your game is fully patched, no.

Is this still needed?

Thanks for being awesome and quicker than what Firaxis can pull off <3 You saved my bacon in my last playthrough

Helped me a lot this mod .. farewell :)

Thanks to reality for the temp fix.

However, I'm seeing comments from people (*Cough* Faust and Saisher) that seem to think companies push out small patches. FIXING something is different to overwriting it with a mod. There is a reason the fall fix was 7.7 GB. They have to rewrite and recompile all of the code that was associated with it. Please stop bashing companies for doing their job. Just because they don't respond immediately doesn't mean they aren't working on it.

Saisher 19 Oct, 2017 @ 3:00pm
How much do you want to bet Firaxis just copy and pasted this mod?
Faust 19 Oct, 2017 @ 2:01pm
Thanks for saving us till Firaxis stepped up!

This mod now made redundant by the Fall 2017 patch.

@DeepSpaceNinja:

Because they're too preoccupied with their stupid and broken "Challenge Mode" instead of caring to fix their broken game :P
Penetrator 22 Sep, 2017 @ 7:20am
is this still an issue? why won't firaxis fix it?
sherder 15 Sep, 2017 @ 11:03pm
Look at the Change notes:

Update: Sep 15 @ 5:45pm
Will loss no longer affects units who don't use the will system. (ie SPARKs)

Discuss this update in the discussions section.

@Merk this mod requires fixing? whats wrong with it?
Merk 15 Sep, 2017 @ 5:13pm
So I'm trying to fix your mod myself but had some questions - you don't accept friend requests so I can't ping you thru steam

I'm trying to find the file you modified - do your fix + add a check to see if TargetUnit is a Spark or not (assuming there's some kind of property that I can use to accomplish that)
EvilAlien 13 Sep, 2017 @ 9:24am
2 cups of tea for this kind sir, plz!
BaronMcChicken 11 Sep, 2017 @ 2:16pm
Thanks so much for this ESSENTIAL fix! Luckily for me I noticed that the will loss was permanent after my first fight with a brutal Chosen. Immediately thought that it had to be a bug; just too rediculous to be intended.

One thing, after installing your fix I noticed that the brutal will loss now affects SPARKS. My SPARKS's will is currently at 37/40, which it has been for several in-game months. Seems they don't ever regenerate their will since they aren't supposed to lose it.
Kim bosong 10 Sep, 2017 @ 11:52am
still no official patch lol
Obiwan 10 Sep, 2017 @ 9:41am
is this retroactive?
Tiasmoon 10 Sep, 2017 @ 9:35am
@bycoolboy823.
That is because Brutal only effects targets in the Line of Sight of a Chosen when they attack.
Benschachar 9 Sep, 2017 @ 10:12pm
How the heck did they overlook such a debilitating flaw?
Seether 9 Sep, 2017 @ 7:21am
Thanks for this, got sick of seeing my entire squads max Will dropping after every other mission.

If it'd gone on much longer all my veterans would have been useless.
-=Sentor=- 9 Sep, 2017 @ 7:13am
@EX0stasis even my Husky's understand this bug, i really hope you are trolling, otherwise jesus, must be hard to be you. On the "Bright" side, maybe you don't even notice it and live happy in your small bubble world. Could be fun, sadly i don't know.
Kyronz 8 Sep, 2017 @ 9:52pm
excellent, thanks for the work!
Kensei 8 Sep, 2017 @ 5:56pm
Damnit I found about this too late. Now my goddamn major has 30 will
BelowAverageAmerican 7 Sep, 2017 @ 8:17pm
Is this retroactive? I already did two missions against a brutal chosen.

Thanks!
Willy "Big John" Helldiver 7 Sep, 2017 @ 12:53pm
10/10 description.
bycoolboy823 6 Sep, 2017 @ 1:10am
I noticed, however, that in WOTC even my Major who never saw the Chosen with brutal has only around 45~50 Will, it seems like WOTC has modified the Will increase over promotion, maybe to work with the new fatigue system?
I checked my older saves before encountering the chosen, and only my templar (who was directly trageted by an attack) had a stat change.
Orpheus 5 Sep, 2017 @ 1:04pm
@EX0stasis IQ25 mate
JiMMy 5 Sep, 2017 @ 4:09am
what file does this mod change? i want to know if it is compatible with my other mods
Ghilz 4 Sep, 2017 @ 10:46pm
Nice, thanks!
Nukeey 4 Sep, 2017 @ 5:55pm
Actually they all have like 53 Will now. And that on seargent. I think it might have somehow invreased the total.
Nukeey 4 Sep, 2017 @ 5:45pm
Found some weird bug or interaction. I enabled it mid tactical mission, since it was the first time in that campaign that I met the warlock with brutal. After a very long mission every one of my soldiers was only 3 will below their max.
Matikanefukukitaru 4 Sep, 2017 @ 5:06am
@EX0stasis: What marshmallow justice says, but the description has proper grammer except for one typo("decrease" instead of "decreases"), quite unlike your comment("nor does it have proper grammar" would be right; also the "to fix that problem" is bullshit grammarwise and most of your commas are wrong, or at least some).
marshmallow justice 4 Sep, 2017 @ 4:54am
Well, since you're a special case:

The "Brutal" buff that the Chosen could randomly roll was bugged and would remove will from your soldier's maximum will pool, meaning every single time you versed said Chosen, your units would slowly lose more and more of their total will, eventually becoming mid-tier or end-tier ranked units with <25 will.

This mod fixes it. Like it says in the description.
Soulstrike 3 Sep, 2017 @ 12:40pm
Aww, most of my colonels have ~25-30 Will thanks to a brutalizing assassin. My B squad that never encountered her has 40+... what a shame. Thanks for making this mod for any future playthroughs.
Fabulously Unethical 3 Sep, 2017 @ 7:31am
Sorta reminds me of what would happen to soldiers in XCOM 1 who got stuck on Arc Thrower duty.
Sisukas 1 Sep, 2017 @ 1:10pm
JohnBot is correct. For example, the command could be **SetSoldierStat estat_Will 50 "Peter Van Doorn" 1** without the asterisks. If you're on the soldier's screen in the armory, you will need to back out and click on them again for the change to take effect.
MattStriker 1 Sep, 2017 @ 1:08pm
Ah, so the syntax WAS wrong. I would have expected an error message at least :P.
Johnbot 1 Sep, 2017 @ 12:49pm
@MattStriker SetSoldierStat eStat_HP 10 "Soldier Name" 1
