No Covert Ops Stat Boosts

No no :) I still have the mod. I know what files I modded. The issue was I'm not sure where in the code the bonuses are defined. I recall it being a bit of a mess - needed people to point me to the exact definitions. I'm unlikely to be able to fix it, since - again - H aven't touched XCOM in over a year and don't really remember much about its UnrealScript structure.

According to the Alternative Mod Loader, this are the files: https://i.imgur.com/WF6prfU.png

Does that help?

I'll be honest, it's been at least a year since I made this so I don't remember what could have gone wrong. I remember having issues finding exactly where in the files the cover tops stat bonuses were defined, and it's possible I've missed some. My apologies.

This mod seems to work for most Covert Operations but not all. I've taken two screenshots: https://imgur.com/a/1vBrpeq
The other Operations you see did seem to work with this mod.
The only other mod I use that interacts with covert ops is "Improve Combat Intelligence for Everyone" which allows faction classes to go on that type of Operation, but I don't see how that could cause conflicts with this mod.

I understand, thanks for the reply.

I don't think so. Due to XCOM's instancing, anything you've already acquired keeps its stats. I'm only tweaking the "templates" from which new items are generated.

Does this retroactively remove the bonuses from soldiers? (I doubt it but that's the type of mod I'm looking for. I gave a Templar increased speed so often it's no longer fun and I just want all bonuses gone/)

You are being unlucky. This mod just tweaks a the bonus reward stats and doesn't actually mess with reward distributions. My personal experience has been that those can both be fairly rare, which non-streakbreaker RNG can sometimes make near non-existent.

Honestly, I remember having significant issues tracking those bonuses, myself. The Covert Ops system is... Kind of sewn together from a lot of different parts defined in a lot of different places.
Malidictus  [author] 7 Dec, 2019 @ 12:37pm
Not the way I'm doing it, no. The way Covert Ops stat boosts work is by awarding your soldiers invisible permanent PCS. I didn't change the rewards, but rather just zeroed-out the stat boost values. I haven't dug into XCOM 2 in quite a while so I don't really know how to tweak the actual drop tables. Sorry.

Yeah, I suspected that's what you were asking :) Feel free to do so, and thanks for the heads-up.

That's fine. Thanks for replying.
Now I know there are no forthcoming updates, I'll be able to add this as a required mod to my own. Though right now I'm swearing at Jake for messing the SDK up =)

If you're wanting to rely on the mod staying the way it is, probably. I haven't been active in the mod-making scene for quite a while now. Plus, I don't really see what-all I could do to it. I wanted Covert Ops stat bonuses gone, so no reason to mess with it :)

If you were hoping for updates, then that's unlikely, I'm afraid. Sorry to disappoint, in that case.

I'm currently developing a mod to replace the vanilla classes and some abilities. The way I want it to work requires a number of changes in the base game beyond a simple class replacement. This mod is just perfect for helping to balance it out. Thank you for making it.
So a quick question - are you planning to change/edit/update this mod?
Malidictus  [author] 19 Apr, 2019 @ 6:28am
You're quite welcome :) This was honestly the biggest change I wanted to make to War of the Chosen, as the random stat boosts from covert ops were making all of my soldiers into generalits and blurring their class specialisations.

Never realized I wanted this, thanks!

Half the fun in making these has been picking thumbnails for some reason :)

That thumbnail is beaitiful.

Well, it's a fairly simple ini tweak so feel free to play around with the stats. It was your idea to a large extent, after all :)

I'd like to keep the "base mod" as it is, though, as my goal was to completely eliminate repeatable stat boosts from the game. I just like to have a certain sense of finality to my soldiers' progression, a moment when I can say "Jane Kelly is done." I actually started actively avoiding Covert Ops towards the late game, using a pair of Colonel Grenadiers the game wouldn't let me fire for them just because I didn't want to boost my soldiers' stats too high.

Thanks to you guys, I now can :) But if you want to change it, feel absolutely free.

Also, have an idea that might be considered decent for making things less... absolute: Hacking can be, like, 3-7 to give it, when it spawns, a decent stat bonus for your operative, but make Mobility and HP a range from 0 to 1 instead of just a flat 0. That way you have a 50% chance of, when one of those slots spawns, getting nothing instead of having an absolute chance of that slot being functionally worthless. Might make things more interesting!

I'm Alexandr. Yay, thanks for the propz! Haha

I am not installing this mod, and I can't like it because I play via Family Sharing, but if I could, I would've liked this mod. Purely for the use of Spy Kids thumbnail.
Malidictus  [author] 11 Sep, 2017 @ 1:56pm
Yeah, I don't know how well this would scale on higher difficulty settings. I was mostly after a sort of RP element where each of my soldiers is a persistent character who's good at a few things and really not good at a few others. It makes me more invested in the game, and the potential for everyone to be good at everything kind of takes away from that.
Ford Ranger 11 Sep, 2017 @ 12:43pm
This mod is perfect, thank you so much. I've had to actively avoid sending my A-team on covert ops so they wouldn't become ridiculous.
DEADPOO 11 Sep, 2017 @ 12:34pm
Nice idea. All I can say is good luck on Legendary Ironman....
