I played Caged a long time ago and I liked it (I still remember it). In fact I made a comment there. I'll try Split now, thanks.

(Yeah I made a pair of chambers but they're not worthy, don't worry.)

Ok turns out dreamer's version of split isn't up anymore, but he did send it to me so I'll update it at some stage soon.

Glad you liked it. If you are looking for a harder puzzle you could try "Split" but to be honest I like dreamer's version better than my original. Otherwise there is "Caged" which is probably a bit easier than this one. Have you made any chambers of your own?

I hate brainless multibutton puzzles. I loved this one.

Thanks Dreamer, that demo is much closer to the intended solution.
The only 2 things that are really a problem are:
1. Being able to put a cube on the cube button on the floor without activating the it but still being able to block both lasers.
2. Being able to get the sphere up off the sphere button by respawning the sphere.

For #2 I think it should be possible to use a vertical staircase and tractor to push the sphere into the button. Like how it was done in cubini, except I'd probably just leave the tractor running.

For #1 its a bit more difficult, while a tractor might work (and I'd have to check that), I would have to use a grating in the floor over the button (or something like that) to allow the tractor to go through.

Do you have any other ideas or comments about how I could prevent the player doing the 2 things I listed above?

I´ve never though about pushing the button from the other side ^^ facepalm

I've changed the floor grating back to glass. And added the intro room so players don't spend alot of time before they realise you can portal between the fizzler and glass.

Dreamer, you may want to have another look at this as quite alot of your demo relyed on that grating.

Dreamer, thank you so much for that blind run demo. It has been very very useful. In fact it has actually given me some ideas for new puzzles that require some of the not so obvious solutions you have used.

It looks like that one piece of grating has allowed a few unintended solutions. It used to be glass but I changed it to grating because I got some feedback from someone that it took them a long time to realise they could shoot a portal between the fizzler and glass. I think I should change it back to glass and have an intro room that forces you to do the same thing to enter the main puzzle.

I really liked your solution for not letting the sphere activate the sphere button. I just expected people would press the button from inside, turn around and catch the sphere. It looks very reliable and not very obvious, so I might make a map at some stage that requires that solution.

toncica, thanks for the blind run. Its really interesting to see how people think and approach my puzzles. I loved it 7:20 in when I could see you clicked about the sphere. I also notice you found out why I gave the warning about the cube exchanger doors in the description.

I think your solution deviated from the intended solution right at the end. However I thought your solution was very eligant and smart, but i'll have to replay the level myself to remember how it was ment to be done.

Quite the challenge. In the end everything went as intended I think.

I created cube via console just to demonstrate how to do it. Also I was able to place second cube on the button to enable the beam before you add glass wall.
I will replay fixed map a bit later :)

Not for nothing, do not change the mechanics that makes it difficult medium map, I see you put a window with the catapult, meatbag already told you to pass the cube to disappear, well you've put it in the window, although putting a laser field there is no bad idea either, force the user to disable the laser before boarding.

But I leave it to your decision.

Wow something is weird with that demo. I'm assuming you generated the companion cube for the purposes of demonstration because there isn't one in this puzzle. So how did you manage to get the tractor running without having to stand on the button? The glass I added should have removed the ability to get a cube up there. Or maybe you recorded that before the glass was added?

I dont know how to fix beam push. Here is the demo - https://dl.dropbox.com/u/4496024/portal2/pushdemo.dem

Thanks for the feedback MeatBag. I've corrected the problem with the fizzler (at least I think I have). I'm asumming that will also remove the ability to get the laser cube to the lasers through the tractor beam?
MeatBag 1 Jan, 2013 @ 4:49am
Nice one but some things need to be fixed I think. Fizzler above faith plate is useless, I easily passed it with cube ) Just go backward to the faith plate and cube won't be destroyed. I was able to throw cube to the light bridge but it only save 1 or 2 steps. And I got laser cube to the lasers through tractor beam place portal to the side of portalable surface, not center, and you'll be able to place cube behind portal. Tractor beam won't move it back .
I liked it :)

Thanks for the feedback astro. Do you think the mechanics are maybe a little too complex?
Upbamboo 30 Dec, 2012 @ 5:04pm
Interesting map, it took me about 15 minutes to see the mechanics of it but I finished it. Good map
