This version of the Spartan mod is now outdated. A new version has been released here.

Well CivVModsDatabase.db file does not exist only debugGameplay, debugConfiguration, debuglocalization. Thanks for the prompt follow ups by the way.

Try sitting in your mod menu for a minute or so for them to actually unpack if they haven't been downloaded to your folder.

If that doesn't work, go to Documents/My Games/Sid Meier's Civilization V/Cache, and then delete CivVModsDatabase.db. Then, when you load the game, it'll build a new database, and in doing so, download or unpack any mods that haven't downloaded properly. Be warned that this might have adverse affects, like force-updating mods or deleting mods that have been removed from the workshop, so I'd make a backup of your mods folder to be safe.

Yeah, I am subscribed however steam did not download it into the mod folder. Unsubscribing and re-subscribing does not fix the issue.

Are all three mods enabled? You need to have the UNSC, Scorpion, and Spartan all downloaded and enabled.

Not sure if this issue has been resolved, I am also not able to build Spartans or Scorpion units. UNSC faction mod is downloaded and working.

I tried finding the Spartan in the building menu but i couldn't find it. could anyone or usernamehere tell me if im doing something wrong or if i might be missing something? also i have the UNSC faction downloaded already as well

Oh, alright. Still though, the Spartan could definitely do with having three Movement instead of two. The thing is, I made this mod over a year ago. My understanding of Civ V game balance has changed.

You have to remember though that in the Information Era, Units start with promotions thanks to buildings like the Armory and Military Academy. With Drill I and Shock I being default Promotions, the player can then have their Spartans start with Drill II and Shock II.

Still, your suggestion might be right. I'll consider buffing them in some way, but I'm not sure how right now - plus, I'm working on a different mod at the moment.

I feel like spartans are useless with the scorpion add on for the UNSC. More mobility, cheaper, stronger and besides, they can hold their own against helicopters fine leaving the Spartan useless. It needs a rebalance (either being less of a resource drag or a buff [perhaps Xcom paradrop?])

I know next to nothing about how to modify unit graphics, let alone make new ones. So, even if I wanted to do that, I don't actually know how.

yuppo, a single graphic spartan instead of a squad of them, I didn't know bout the hard limit of 5 squads, but that works as well, though I don't suppose Reach happened in Civ:D, so logically speaking nothing would stop the UNSC from continuing to produce more, but yah, from balance perspective.

I disagree. Having up to five in the game is a better option, as they can be deployed to different fronts across the globe, and they can be personalized with things like "Squad Sigma," or "Squad Alpha." They're balanced by having an immensely high resource cost, while being about as powerful as the Giant Death Robot, more so if you're fighting with the UNSC's unique trait.

And remember, in the game, Spartans were still beatable, despite being immensely powerful. There's a reason why the Master Chief was the only one left by the time of Halo: Combat Evolved.

It occurs to me that you're asking me to change the unit graphic to only display one single XCOM Squad member? Is that what you meant and I completely missed it?

I don't know if yah will consider this, but perhaps make the unit a single unit, as Spartans tend to be ungodly capible in combat, so a single spartan could more then likely take on half a civilization by him/herself(with a squad of them it's no contest), (plus that way you can rename them individually for a more personal, and uniquer unit)

As the UNSC only. You need the UNSC mod for the Spartan to actually do anything.
