could you add a grass block like earth like grass?
the grass cover you have is more like plants

unfortunately, pretty long, because in modern games there no such thing as texture bu themselfs. instead, series of very tricky made textures are combined into special structure, called material, then this material get associated to one o more polygons of model. each model may have many materials. so answering to your question, i can't add new paint to game, so i have to made my own version of armor blocks, with required materials, which pretty big task...

How long would it take to add a generic grass texture to armor bloxk even if it is in the painter menu? Voxels would wreak havoc on my ship.

My intention was to make realistic but buildable foliage, so yes they are a little overditalized....

Currently I facing challenge of making better materials for these blocks, so they not look so metallic, but this is huge topic for novice 3d-artist: from UV-unwarapping to PBR lighting theory, and have not much free time to learn this, thou I making some progress lately: https://www.facebook.com/scadl/posts/2495781797145112

Thank you for listening to my comment! I spent hours trying to find just a grass paint texture until I found you had a cover. A rather high poly solution but a solution nonetheless!

Heya! Great to see you still supporting this! This was just the perfect block for my artificial habitat, and went to use it and then found out that it doesn't have a slanted block (specifically the grass cover block.) Do you intend to include this in future?

@Stollie I noticed, hulls and some other parts are looks like game's original block parts. But I i'm not clearly understand how to extract them. You mentioned ModSDK. Is it not in game Tools directory? I'm using pretty old toolset for blender: https://harag-on-steam.github.io/se-blender/ to make my mod. but it's not allow tow reverse engineer mwm files from game. I only examined sbc files for block's logic.

@scad.luncher - Hey, I made the daily needs models, its mostly a Kitbash from Keen's blocks. If you take a look at their FBX from the ModSDK, a lot of their stuff is modular allowing you to make all sorts of shapes and designs from the pieces :)

99% of the textures are actually Keen's textures as well, they have Textures for pretty much anything you need in their Atlas.

In terms of any new Geometry I've found CC attrib models from Sketchfab are a good source, some of the things from daily needs are from there as well as in my NPC Crew mod.

The mod "Daily Needs MK 4 - TRUE Survival Needs for Space Engineers" I use now, but its blocks look like containers, and your blocks give you a sense of immersion in the game and inspire. Food production in their fashion should have the appearance of your blocks ;-)

@Vegas, how long ago did you checked them by yourself? I fount this mod, and now it has really amazing block models, with a great detail (and they are using pbr materails, which I unfortunately don't)

@ scad.luncher, cooperate with the mods "Daily Needs MK 4 - TRUE Survival Needs for Space Engineers", they have an excellent survival mod, but it looks miserable in the "standard" blocks, so that the same would be placed in the kitchen furniture - it would be really cool)

@Vegas, yes the furniture is the other interesting topic I aware of. I also tried to find good blocks for my interiors, but find only one with very low poly models, and unfortunately bad UV-unwrapping. I know how hard it is to unwrap complex geometry, so I'm not blaming author, just taking note, that I have to do this better.

Making some sort of thin "overlay" geometry to mask metal on buildings is actually one of my dreams about this mod. So adding to this some furniture will be very logical. The hard truth is this is a hell lot of modelling, not speaking about LOD's, mount pints, colliders etc. I do understand how to implement all this, but can't imagine how many time it will take, if I do this by myself.

Though thank you for ideas, I think I already have a list of futures for upcoming mod update. )))

@scad.luncher, By the way, there are very few mods for chairs, armchairs, tables, and bar counters (there are two or three mods, but they are outdated and not updated), and there are very many types of such furniture. Are you interested in this?

It is a pity that the growth will not work on the planets resp. I advise you, if there is a desire and ability to make decoration blocks, for example, you can take a beautiful building from any movie, and make decorative blocks for this building, of which you can build it. You do well decor, I like it)

I didn’t talk about what kind of growth looked like in the movies)) there are great buildings in the films, but those who make these buildings use vanilla blocks in the game (an example with an engine), but it would be nice if the decor blocks were for such a building, without functionality )

@Vegas, I'm not actually sure if foliage generators on planets are modable. I saw only texture replacement mods for planets, while my mod contains own meshes. On top of that, my LODs not really perfect for usage in big numbers, like they should on planet surface.
As of movie based plants, I agree they wold look better than my imaginary ones, but you just remember that in movies you see "baked" pichure, made with powerful calculation frameworks, called "render farms", so you don't see actual models. But I think I can try examine the ideas behind them and try to implement in lowpoly geometry, acceptable by game engine. I actually learning now how to work with PBR-material, but it's very "heavy" theme to consume it fast enough.

still such a question / suggestion, is there an opportunity (this mod and so simple decor) to set the generation of these plants on the planets? very poor flora on the planets, it will be good if the player meets your plants on the planets instead of the standard ones)

your work does not suck, they just have a decorative purpose, the player is more important functional use than to look at the block. BUT, if you like the decor more, then I can offer an option: - (Movie "The Wandering Earth" —— The Earth Engine)
This is a very nice decorative building, but it contains many blocks and there is no possibility to create it in your game. If you want to create something epic but not functional, then I think that making blocks for the type of buildings from different films would be very cool.
But I personally hope that SpaceFoliage will improve to the interaction and have a functional))

@Veags, thank you for such a good idea. I thought myself, I need somehow expand their functionality. Unfortunately, at this moment I more into modeling, than coding (this is why my scripts suck), but I'll see what I can do about this.

give the plants fruit! Let it be not only a decor, each block consumes sunlight, oxygen and water (from ice), after a while in the inventory of the block a fruit will appear for the "Daily Needs MK 4 - TRUE Survival Needs for Space Engineers" mod.

@Diminius, @Stitch, the fruit trees not such a difficult thing by themselves, but the problem is I have to update old blocks somehow. The problem is their first LOD level became their main look, which is not good.

I believe this happen because of recent modapi updates, while my mod compiled more than a year ago. I'm searching for updated tool set, but because this mod modeled in Blender and it's really difficult to find updated exporter plugin.

The scripts and colliders are also some problem in this context.

I'm really thankful to everyone who still wish to use my small mod, but unfortunately I can't say when I update it with graphical fixes and new block. Sorry. :steamsad:

Wheat! WHEAT!! I've been asking for crops for years every since planets first came out!! Thank you! If there's any chance you can make other crop types that would be great. Maybe some fruiting trees or corn or something.
