Personaly I never could and still can't trade anything with normal free birds, either vegetable to get seeds or seeds for who knows reason.
That actualy made me think, would you believe the character should have a way of getting feathers easier than others by trading with the birds ?
(I don't have ideas what item could be traded for that purpose tho)

She can walk up to a normal free bird and trade with them, yes. At least if the code i wrote way back then still works

There is a component you can add to prefabs called "trader".
This component has a function called SetAcceptTest that takes a function which checks if the giver is acceptable for a trade. In my case i check if the trader is called "avia" so the birds only trade with avia. I also check that the items given are a kind of seed.

Also the trader component has a variable "onaccept" which you set to a function that defines what the bird should return given a certain giver and traded item.

You can compare this functionality with the birdcage, which trades meat for eggs for example.

You see, I decided to look into trying out modding for DST and this mod just so happened to be the mod i decided to learn from. One thing i noticed was what looks like some sort of bird trading thing? Was just sort of curious of this and wondering if you (or anyone really) are able to clear this up for me.

you can get seeds by feeding a caged bird with a fruit/vegetable, you will get basics seeds and/or seeds about the fruit/veggie you gave to the bird :>

You can modify my mod in any way you see fit and release her as long as you credit me as a co-creator and link to this page. You also have to release your mod under the same licence.
I am mostly done with modding this game so i am glad that someone likes to improve her :)

I don't exactly understand this "Creative Commons" license.
I played around with her code a little to fix her character selection and rebalanced her quite a bit to make her feel more polished, up to date and fun to play, but I am not sure if I can put this "updated" version on workshop.

you can eat cooked bearchnuts or farm fruits to give them to a bird in a cage to get more seeds to eat. But a easier way to get seeds from wild brids could be a idea ? Or be able to give them the fruits ?

could you make it so she can eat tree acorns or something relying on birds to fly by and leave seeds makes it super hard and unreliable to get food

This is most likely my fav character i've used although it is fairly difficult. I manage myself fine up untill the first day of winter. from there everything goes downhill. also when i respawn i lose the blue feathers texture. apart from the downsides i enjoy this character very much. :)

I didnt know that catcoons give stuff for TWIGS. I though only meat. On another hand, I usually dont stick near them... As Webber main I tend to get attacked by them.

You can give stuff like twigs to catcoons. For the long run i'd setup a bird cage though

She loses the Winter skin when ya use the wardrobe.
