can you please update your nice mod?
KubiG 8 Mar, 2018 @ 12:21pm
Awesome mod, sadly I have to report that my game slowly became next to unplayable already after some 100-150 years only, even with "only" 2000 star galaxy with max number of AIs. Horrible lags every single day.
But from reading some threads it's simply a basegame coding issue, it just arrives a lot sooner with larger galaxies :-(, shame on Paradox!! Their other games are so much better optimised...

It depends entirely on your system config. Also since Stellaris can only use a single CPU core, people with weak CPU's will be more likely to crash from errors
Sumrex  [author] 3 Dec, 2017 @ 8:47am
@y4wgmoth This one hasn't crashed for me yet, and I too am not sure why others seem to crash more. In theory they should all be the same but apparently they aren't.
y4wgmoth 2 Dec, 2017 @ 11:58am
Kind of confused why one galaxy generating mod would crash more than another if you are using the same size galaxy with the same number of stars.

But if this is true, does this particular mod crash less? I have a very high end gaming PC yet still got crashes using a different galaxy mod playing at 5k stars with about 35 AI empires (only 1 was a fallen empire). I was using an elliptical shaped galaxy if that changes anything.
mashtong54 21 Nov, 2017 @ 2:26pm
i don't have that mod i think it's a ram issue
Boisegangpc 1 Nov, 2017 @ 7:00am
"Some stars are missing names..." Oh, right, it says there's a mod to fix that. Too bad it's not retroactive... either way, I like having larger galaxies because it makes for more civilizations. Because Fermi can go screw himself.

UPDATE: Updated to 1.8.3, nothing was changed
yutz 25 Oct, 2017 @ 8:41am
waiting for 1.8.3 upgrade :)
Bounce 24 Oct, 2017 @ 8:17pm
Is there a way to generate stars in the core?
Sumrex  [author] 24 Oct, 2017 @ 4:41pm
@mashtong54 I know I was getting crashes while playing last weekend with Fallen Empires Expanded, so if you have that, it could be your problem. I'll look into testing this but I've managed very big games with many mods so it'll be difficult to pinpoint.
mashtong54 24 Oct, 2017 @ 2:00pm
it;s poobly both but the ai crash only happens only on 4000+ eliptcal and ring galaxys but not on spiral arm galaxys and i turn off most of my mods other then the ui and trait and galaxy gen mods every time i start a new game then save then turn the other mods back on becuse some of the mods don't like map gen at all
Sumrex  [author] 22 Oct, 2017 @ 5:01pm
@mashtong54 The ai code works fine for me, I've been playing all weekend with over 100 mods, 10k stars, and 40 ai plus 5 fallen empires. It may be a limit of your pc, or more likely there is a conflicting mod, though such a mod would only realistically be from some sort of overhaul.
mashtong54 22 Oct, 2017 @ 4:03pm
spiral galaxys can help to prevent the games ai from overloading and crashing the game
mashtong54 22 Oct, 2017 @ 3:42pm
i crash everytime when the games ai trys to do anything
mashtong54 22 Oct, 2017 @ 3:37pm
or is it caused by ai mods i don't know got too do more testing
mashtong54 22 Oct, 2017 @ 3:34pm
it's seams the game ai code cant handle any thing above 3000 stars without crashing

UPDATE 1.0.2: Updated to fix a crash when trying to load a ring galaxy on larger galaxy sizes
Sumrex  [author] 22 Oct, 2017 @ 8:11am
@Blacktoll I did get a crash on the ring galaxy, I'll be checking that out

@bidithal Just loaded a galaxy with 60 ai and 4-8 fallen empires, I did not crash but I'm beginning to think it is a loading time problem
bidithal 22 Oct, 2017 @ 1:07am
more than 50 ai empires causes crash
M-Gay Ultra 21 Oct, 2017 @ 12:29pm
This game crashes when I use the ring galaxy and I think you might be correct about their being a timer.
Sumrex  [author] 20 Oct, 2017 @ 7:57pm
@Kernyx It doesn't crash from not having enough names, it could be a time limit so I'll check to see if that exists and if it can be heavily increased.
Elentári 20 Oct, 2017 @ 5:48pm
@Sumrex
I have 16GB RAM and a GeForce GTX1070

Maybe it's how much time the system gives itself to finish the galaxy generation?
Or maybe it crashes if it doesn't have enough names or species?
Sumrex  [author] 20 Oct, 2017 @ 4:12pm
@WillPlaysTV Your specs should be fine to run the game, the only problems you would have would be from RAM usage, but 8GB is more than enough methinks
Sumrex  [author] 20 Oct, 2017 @ 4:11pm
@Kernyx I just started it up with exactly those settings and it's working fine. It could be an issue with the amount of RAM you have but I don't know your specs so I couldn't say.
Elentári 20 Oct, 2017 @ 7:22am
I've unsubscribed all mods, deleted my "mods" and "workshop" folders, repaired the game, downloaded the 1080p UI mod and a bunch of banner and portrait mods.

Then I downloaded this mod, the SUM More Core Worlds and the SUM Smaller Borders mods.

The game crashes when I try to start a game at the following settings:
Galaxy size: 10,000 stars
AI empires: 60
Advanced empires: 6
Fallen empires: 2
WillPlaysTV 19 Oct, 2017 @ 7:28pm
@Sumrex Exaclty what you said, I've got an mod for MORE names in sum with that the game already provides and now every star/system has a name, sadly an already generated galaxy cant load these names. Besides that, your mod is working fine, I got a pretty good rig atm with an I7 4790, 8GB ram and a GTX970, going to hit mid/late game in a few hours but the fps and loads aren't an issue.
Sumrex  [author] 19 Oct, 2017 @ 7:03pm
@Steel_Tsunami Ye, between this mod and my others in the Balancing Collection I try to simulate a larger size as best I can, but obviously theres only so much that does.
Steel_Tsunami 19 Oct, 2017 @ 3:30pm
alright cool gonna keep an eye on this mod. Hope you find something out.
Sumrex  [author] 19 Oct, 2017 @ 3:26pm
@Steel_Tsunami Sadly no, which is why there are no mods that do that. It would require some heavy modifications that I am willing to do, but I have to figure out multiple other problems besides just increasing the size.
There is no limit to size but there is a border to the galaxy generation in the shape of a box that stars will always refuse to generate outside of, so I would need to modify that.
I would also need to add more zoom so you can get the camera around the galaxy faster, but in testing the galaxy disappears, so I'd also have to modify the draw distances as well!

TL:DR theres various engine reasons why this has never been done before, but I am 100% willing to try and I have already been experimenting to figure this out for everyone.
Sumrex  [author] 19 Oct, 2017 @ 3:23pm
@WillPlaysTV It's not a glitch, nor will it break your game, there are simply not enough names to go around to 8k or 10k stars. Usually people get some name mods to add more so that this isn't a problem. I may go ahead and add a bunch at some point so this isn't a problem, but in the meantime I'll update my post to reflect this warning.
Steel_Tsunami 19 Oct, 2017 @ 9:49am
Is there anyway to increase the actual size of the galaxy rather than increase the concentration of stars?
WillPlaysTV 19 Oct, 2017 @ 7:28am
I've installed this mod and started a new game with Titanic 8k stars and a lot of the stars/systems doesn't have a name and I can't rename them at all (I thought I could change them via console, but theres no command for that unfortunately). It's normal or could be an issue because of other mod? (I'm using not special tbh, 1080 overhaul, some ship appearences, your epic explosions, dark ui, a galaxy textures and one for traits).
Sumrex  [author] 17 Oct, 2017 @ 2:35pm
@SinTeXolod The mod adds more galaxy star amounts to choose from, amounts like 1k arent touched. Due to the way Stellaris works the galaxy size is only marginally bigger, and the stars have to have a higher concentration. For that reason I recommend a mod like mt Smaller Borders mod which rebalances some of the ranges to compensate for this. (also mods like Make the Universe a Bigger Place work to this effect)
SinTeXolod 17 Oct, 2017 @ 7:32am
Does this mod change the size of the map as a whole or simply increase the concentration of stars in same space(1k)
Sumrex  [author] 16 Oct, 2017 @ 2:30pm
Updated the mod (Oct. 16, 2017):
-Fixed Fallen Empires not spawning in proper amounts. (I forgot to scale down the spawn distances)
-Changed some of the default spawns so things don't appear too clustered (though you can still set them how you like)
-Changed the zoom while in the galaxy view, so you can now get a view more to your liking
Sumrex  [author] 16 Oct, 2017 @ 1:46pm
@WMJ It's not limited to one, but it definitely isn't spawning the correct amount, if I recall Fallen Empires might be hard coded to only allow 5 max reguardless of settings. I'll see what I can do to fix this.
Sumrex  [author] 16 Oct, 2017 @ 1:30pm
@nelliel You need to have pretty high specs, 10k stars gives the game a lot ton process what with all the ai and stuff.
Prezydent Duda 16 Oct, 2017 @ 1:00pm
It seems to be spawning only one ancient civilisation no matter the settings.
Realhollow 15 Oct, 2017 @ 6:31pm
wow what specs do you have to run the game smoothly with 10k starrs mine slows down really bad mid game with 5k lol
