I have no other visual mods installed besides all the IA ones and the Celts one is the only that doesn't work. :/
Daetras 15 Mar, 2019 @ 9:13am
I honestly can't decide wich to use
Daetras 15 Mar, 2019 @ 9:13am
I think if this mod would be perfect if combines the feudal age of this one

https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1129669635

But should keep the towers from the mod above.

Welp, I'll subscribe so long as you make an alternate version including my Castle and Imperial age tweaks. I can deal with deleting slp files. For that time being, I'll remove my upvote from this mod. I hope my previous comments didn't offend you, I meant them as constructive critiques to help you.
Redkirby  [author] 26 Feb, 2018 @ 5:53pm
AND, if you consider that feudal age is useless or walls, it's quite easy to remove them from the mod, you simply have to open the mod's folder and remove the slp files you don't want and keep everything you want.
As for me, the only thing I would spent time on for this mod is the missing walls, or re-building the imperial university. But I'm actually working on another civ at this time (look at my Mongol civ, pretty ugly ... That's about to change)
Sorry if my comments sounds pesky ! I just wanted to explain how I feel about that.
Redkirby  [author] 26 Feb, 2018 @ 5:53pm
Of course, you also asking me to fix details that I could actually do, but it wouldn't be for me : I personnaly like the spikes on each corners for imperial age, I like the size of the archery range, especially cause I like Yakko's Aragonese archery range, and I do like how the castle market looks like : it changes, just like the South east asian mill isn't the same as olds watermills : It also changes. But still recognizable.
BUT ! I don't forbid anyone to take the graphics I made (and as a reminder : I haven't made everything in this set, especially feudal age) and improve them. On the contrary, this will be welcoming especially by someone as gifted as Catbarf or Gwotyng (but again, I think they have something else to do ...)
Redkirby  [author] 26 Feb, 2018 @ 5:53pm
You're actually saying the same things as the last comment you post, and excuse me but asking me to change almost everything I spend time to create (cause yes, I didn't make this on one evening), and pretending some of the graphics are useless (walls, feudal set), it's a little bit rude, even if I don't actually take any offenses.
My point is : I'm not a Professional graphic, I'm an amator, so if I had the ability to do everything like the AOE team, I'd be working for them (I actually sell medecines, then I do this sometimes in my free evenings afterwork, so ...nothing to do with it :) ). This is the greatest I can do with my small knowledges on graphics. As you can see in every mod I make, I don't create all from A to Z, I complete unfinished graphic set, and make new graphics by ripping existing wall textures, roofs etc ...
Andstopher 26 Feb, 2018 @ 2:31pm
@Redkirby To me, this set does not even need a feudal rework. I think that if you really like your feudal set, it would be best to split this into two mods that when combined give the full package. Overall, I feel like the biggest problem is that many of the iconic buildings (Barracks, Archery Range, Stable, Market) have shapes that deviate too far from the main bodies of all other sets. This is what makes Age of Empires so great, you can browse over any architecture set and immediately recognize what function it serves, regardless of clicking on it to see its name.

Yea it's a lot of hefty work, but I feel as though it is neccessary to achieving a beautiful set that merges seamlessly with the rest of the game without breaking the style and philosophy of Age of Empires II.

If you do decide to come through with these changes, good luck and Wololo!
Andstopher 26 Feb, 2018 @ 2:24pm
@Redkirby A quick list of things that I would change is:

-Change the Imperial roof style to maintain the darker color of the Castle Age and remove/shorten the spikes on each corner.
-Lessen the size of the tower on the Archery Range or attach the guard tower's image to it in its place.
-Remove the towers from the Barracks and Stable, it breaks the consistency of the buildings general shape. In the same fashion, I'd remove the tower from the Dock, as it is fully made of stone and has no architectural support beneath it.
-Enlarge the Castle Age market to a similar, possibly slightly smaller, size of its Imperial Age counterpart.
-Use the standard Western Europe wall set. Not much to say here, just there is no texture on the corner pieces and the image just does not fit the game's art style.
Redkirby  [author] 25 Feb, 2018 @ 6:52am
@Andstopher : You're asking me to change a lot of things ^^U If you check the Aragonese Spanish set made by Yakko, you'll see that my buildings aren't very different, since I took inspiration from those building. But I'll agree on the fact that Imperial University is too big. Gonna make another one when I feel the inspiration.
About Catbarf, he is already pressed by people to finish his own work on Byzantine, and he really take his time for making buildings (this is probably why his buildings are so amazing and detailled by the way) so I don't think I'm gonna ask him to perfect my work, he's clearly better than me and I love his work, but he does work on his graphics, I do work on mine, others works on theirs, this is why the steam workshop is so full of ressources.

Thanks priest_of_the_uberfisch for your ecouragements :)

@robert.kis.rath, Shadows can be fixed indeed, but I can't do anything about garrrisoning flag until Saint_Michaels seperate the files for every civ : it means that if I change garrison flag, it also changed for Spanish, Franks, and Brittons.
priest_of_the_uberfisch 24 Feb, 2018 @ 10:28am
I think you should ignore those comments aobut "making everything the same" - I use this strictly because it's different. I love how much more imaginative this set is than all the otehr stuff out there
robert.kis.rath 13 Jan, 2018 @ 2:24pm
@Redkirby

Really nice work. I use this and the western european version (IA: Franks only) regularly and can't stand the old "western european style" anymore. Some small issues remain: (1) the shadows for the stone/fortified wall do not match as the shadows are still using the old square wall and (2) garrisoning units/relics in buildings shows flags that appear in the wrong places so they appear to "levitate".

I think this set could be a wonderful addition if a few modifications are made. Maybe hand this set over to Catbarf, who made that beautiful set for the mediterranean architecture. I don't think the walls need to be changed, nor the feudal age set. If Catbarf can't be bothered(which is understandable), I'd align the shapes of the buildings more to the shapes used by others(which was a main tenet of game's philosophy which was to add universal recognizeabliity across the platform). For example, I'd lower the towers on the stable, archery range, and barracks. I also remove the spikes from the imperial age building and darken the roofs of them. I'd also shrink the imperial university, despite how beautiful it is, it just does not feel like it fits in the game.

I'm glad to know that you have new plans for another civilization~~
Masip 17 Nov, 2017 @ 6:25pm
I think its nice
:steamhappy:
Redkirby  [author] 14 Nov, 2017 @ 6:26pm
I'm sorry but I don't like it, it looks too blocky for me. Fpr now I'm not making new mod, cause I'm working back to Vikings to improve the existing set. Maybe later I will have some plans for Berbers.
Sir Dupre 14 Nov, 2017 @ 4:23pm
No, i meant the one at the bottom picture. ;-) Here is a better one, where i made it very clear: https://abload.de/img/celtcastle7aqs0.png

Btw. do you have any plans for other civs in the future? I absolutely love your mods...
Redkirby  [author] 14 Nov, 2017 @ 3:42pm
@Sir Dupre : It's a viking castle ... ? ... This mod is a Celt set XD
ryan_langfeldt1 14 Nov, 2017 @ 2:13pm
love the work dude:wololo::wololo:
Sir Dupre 14 Nov, 2017 @ 12:34pm
I wish you had used this castle (at the very bottom), imo it looks way better.

Oh, duh. Either way I like it, lol.
Redkirby  [author] 14 Nov, 2017 @ 1:23am
I just figure out that you were maybe talking about the recent uploaded Age of Rings set. Well, I'm not the one who upload those sets.
Redkirby  [author] 14 Nov, 2017 @ 1:20am
Thanks :) But I didn't make any mod for Byzantines. Cartbarf did.
Heimdall313 13 Nov, 2017 @ 7:35pm
These mods are fantastic sir. I still cannot thank you enough for Byzantine and the Vikings.
juergen.zangs 12 Nov, 2017 @ 8:31am
Sehr schöne Detail Arbeit, Klasse.:steamhappy:
Redkirby  [author] 12 Nov, 2017 @ 4:43am
Thanks for all of your encouragements :) For those who were expecting a NON-IA version, it's finally done. You've got the link on the description.

Scots liked their spires, eh
Yadranik 11 Nov, 2017 @ 11:36am
Awesome, Love it!!! the only problem is that the university looks too big i think
Mediocre Emperor 11 Nov, 2017 @ 11:25am
Excellent to finally see a non-anachronistic Celtic IA set on Steam!
Hectornauta 10 Nov, 2017 @ 9:35pm
This building set is awesome :steamhappy: . I'm also hoping for the no IA version.
Spoon Man 9 Nov, 2017 @ 7:34pm
Thanks for answering my question so quickly! It's great having a mod developer be engaged with those who like thier work. Can't wait for more of your mods!
ET Bilú 8 Nov, 2017 @ 12:35pm
Valhalla.Khan is my cheap whore lol...(He is my big friend, a true brother from another mom)
Redkirby  [author] 8 Nov, 2017 @ 10:54am
Maybe one day but it's not my priority right now :) cause walls are very very long to make !
Spoon Man 8 Nov, 2017 @ 9:15am
Are the walls for the other nations you can play as going to be updated as well (in terms of the AI mods)?
Redkirby  [author] 8 Nov, 2017 @ 2:16am
Well it's nice of you :) But I'm not really a graphic designer. I rip graphics from others buildings, modify them eventually, then mix them together. I don't really make buildings from head to toe. A brilliant graphic designer would be Cartbarf or Yakko :)
黑无常|白无常 8 Nov, 2017 @ 12:15am
Only 30 minutes..You're really a great graphic designer..If it were me, maybe 30weeks...HAHAHA.
黑无常|白无常 8 Nov, 2017 @ 12:10am
Thanks for your effort.I like all your mods very much . Expect for more your :steamhappy:mods.
Redkirby  [author] 7 Nov, 2017 @ 11:03am
Well to be fair, I was working on this before the Chinese mod, and the Chinese mod didn't require any work for me except for doing the feudal barracks which take me 30mn :)
黑无常|白无常 7 Nov, 2017 @ 4:28am
Another CIV's building set ,only after a few days! Thanks~
Star of the West 6 Nov, 2017 @ 3:38pm
Ok, and I was asking for those build sets. But It will be great either way though.
Redkirby  [author] 6 Nov, 2017 @ 2:52pm
Well ... I don't very like taller buildings :/ I think it's all about architecture and not growing big ... But it's a point of view :) Besides, I've already in mind what I'm gonna do for the next age, I will continue to inspire myself from the aragonese set.
Metopheles 6 Nov, 2017 @ 12:38pm
This will come as annoying, I know it, but maybe you could check out the Architecture Renovation mod as inspiration for the imperial set. I liked the larger and taller buildings as the ages progressed.
勞動神鷹 5 Nov, 2017 @ 11:07pm
Great work! Thank you
