very nice, the vanilla dogs always felt so goofy.

@hagglebaggle Yeah, another mod of mine called Better Dogs - Silence. That one and this one work fine together:

Is there any way to shut Meeko up?? He barks way too much. A bark once in a while is good. Meeko barks too much. Thanks.

@killemloud Simple answer: Yes. It activates automatically and the only thing they want you to do is subscibe or unsubscribe to control if it is active. You can modify load order from the Skyrim launcher.
Complicated answer: It is stored in your %Program Files (x86)%\Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim\Data\ folder and some mods are .esp or .esm files or can be various loose files if they are textures or meshes (or .bsa's for packages), although everything on the workshop is a .esp or .esm because it is a Steam requirement. To manually control which are active or which order they are loaded you bring up the launcher and modify from there or go into your documents folder, my games, then skyrim and modify your plugins.txt.

Thank you for responding does it activate automatically? How do I toggle it where is it located? Thanks for the help
Degrelecence  [author] 27 Mar, 2017 @ 6:18pm
@killemloud That's all. Subscribing tells Steam to download and install it automatically.
killemloud 27 Mar, 2017 @ 4:39pm
Hello friend! I have subscribed now how do I download this mod?
Degrelecence  [author] 27 Mar, 2016 @ 2:17pm
@BruѕнwoodBowWow🐾 I've never experienced that, myself. I would take a look at everything but honestly it has been years since I had Skyrim even installed.
Thistley 27 Mar, 2016 @ 11:40am

@Fly4AWiFi Awesome! Glad to hear it! :)
Fly4AWiFi 13 May, 2015 @ 6:41pm
@Degrelecence Just had to restart the game again, works like a charm =)
Degrelecence  [author] 13 May, 2015 @ 5:53pm
@Fly4AWiFi He probably is already loaded into memory. If you wanted to reload him, I would suggest trying to open the console ( ` ) then click on him, then type recycleactor and press enter. If you did it right, he should vanish. When you close the console, he will try to run back to you from wherever the game respawned him. (although it could take a while... He will appear next to you after you next quick travel, even if you just quick travel to right where you are).

I have the companion vigilance, subscribed to the mod, and enabled it, yet my dog looks exactly the same still
madiiii 21 Mar, 2015 @ 12:50pm
First time I used this mod, I spawned a dog and stepped up to it a little and it stared at me with wide eyes creepily. Freaked me out. But good mod. c:
Thommygun491 26 Feb, 2015 @ 6:23am
You know your dogs, this one looks like my friends German Sheopard....idk if I've spelt their name wrong but nice job on the retextured wolf!..I'ts so realistic.
Degrelecence  [author] 27 Jan, 2015 @ 7:23am
@Kryssaira Good! I'm glad you like 'em and it seems to have worked out for the better that I split the silence and appearance mods so you were able to get a combo that fits your play style better! :)
Kryssaira 26 Jan, 2015 @ 9:54pm
They really do look good! and I found a mod that doesn't silence the dogs (which is unrealistic) but it drops their volume quite a bit to a more tolerable level.
Degrelecence  [author] 26 Jan, 2015 @ 7:33am
@deborah I am really glad you were able to get it figured out and glad I was able to help!
deborah 25 Jan, 2015 @ 5:31pm
@Degrelecence FYI Update: my graphics card died last week. While waiting for my new one to get here, I did a complete uninstall, and reinstalled using Mod Organizer for my Nexus mods. Naturally, this cleared out the cruft (like old textures) and should help me avoid cruft in the future. Thank you again SO much for your help! Keep up the good work!
Kryssaira 25 Jan, 2015 @ 12:26pm
:D i don't mind the texture mod NOT effecting the huskies, I like them... TY!
Degrelecence  [author] 25 Jan, 2015 @ 7:02am
@Kryssaira Because they are 2 differant mods. I received the opinion from people repeatedly that they didn't want the no bark forced on them, so I made them into two differant mods. This mod never effected the dogs from Dawnguard, but it isn't a bad idea to make a no bark animation for them, as well.
Kryssaira 24 Jan, 2015 @ 11:54pm
my biggest question is WHY did you remove the "no barking" I honestly love the look... but I HATE the noise they make... and even if I used your no barking mod, it only effects the vanilla dogs. which means the Dawnguard Huskies never shut up... sorry... lost a subscriber
deborah 14 Jan, 2015 @ 5:15pm
@Degrelecence the info about how the two different mods are installed helps I think, I suspect it's related to migrating from Nexus to Steam Workshop when SW came out, then back to Nexus (trying to simplify mod management). I think NMM lost some info along the way. I'll try digging around to see if I can delete any meshes and textures that look like they belong to the german shepherd. This might help me figure out one or two other mods that aren't showing up anywhere but seem to be active (e.g., my males are nekkid under their clothes, while my females all have tasteful underwear). I'll post an update when I figure out how to shake the german shepherd. It might just be time to do a clean install...
Degrelecence  [author] 13 Jan, 2015 @ 8:14pm
@deborah Well, a couple more answers then. One, this mod is on Nexus but it doesn't use an esp on there, it uses mesh and texture overwrites, so you would have to manually delete those if you downloaded it from there. B, there is no reason that removing the esp wouldn't have worked (if you don't have the mesh and texture overwrites) but if you want to see if something got messed up, you can always right click Skyrim in your Steam Library, then go to Properties then to 'Local Files' then 'Verify the Integrity of the Game Cache.' This won't delete your mods, it will test the normal files against what they should look like and replace them if they are abnormal. 4GB patches will be removed and I think it undoes Archive Invalidation as well, but both are easily re-applied. iii, you could re-install if this is that important and verifying the game cache didn't work. I would be curious to find out what ended up causing the issue, if/when you figure it out!
deborah 13 Jan, 2015 @ 11:04am
@Degrelecence - Unfortunately, no luck. I'd long ago unsubscribed and disabled the mod and manually deleted the esp and bsa files trying to get the vanilla dogs back. I did just re-try subscribe, sync, unsubscribe, sync, then use the "Data Files" menu on the launcher to delete the files. Are there other files I can delete? I've been occasionally trying to solve this problem for quite a while... I don't recall what might have gotten me into this pickle, but the fact I have a combo of Nexus and Workshop mods leads me to believe something went haywire and made the german shep mesh and skin "stick."

btw, I actually really liked this mod. Unfortunately, I had to send Meeko away, and decided I wanted all the dogs back to their default look.
Degrelecence  [author] 13 Jan, 2015 @ 3:40am
@deborah Yeah, the simplest method is: when you open the launcher, go to 'Data Files' and uncheck 'Better Dogs by Bellyache - German Shepherd.' That SHOULD work. If not, you can manually open the Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim\Data folder and delete 'better dogs by bellyache - barbas german shephard.esp' and 'better dogs by bellyache - barbas german shephard.bsa' (if I made a bsa for this one, pretty sure I did).
deborah 12 Jan, 2015 @ 8:27pm
Steam did not uninstall this mod correctly (it deactivated the mod, but didn't remove the files), and no matter what I do, I'm stuck with German Shepherds. I've tried installing other dog mods, and I get nothing but German Shepherds. The manually deleted the mod files. Any tips on how I can complete the uninstallation and get the original dog mesh and texture back?
Degrelecence  [author] 9 Jan, 2015 @ 8:11pm
@mariehatesyoux3 Yes you can. Press ` to bring up the console, then with the console up, click on your dog. Then type 'set essential 1'
demonkittyx3 9 Jan, 2015 @ 7:51pm
i want my dogs not to die when i'm playing can i console command them to essential/immortal?
Chupapi munanyo 30 Nov, 2014 @ 7:25am
where do u find it
Helljumper ADB 8 Sep, 2014 @ 3:04pm
ok, thanks
Degrelecence  [author] 7 Sep, 2014 @ 8:17pm
@Helljumper ADB Yes, the mod works fine with all mods that don't change the appearance of dogs.
Helljumper ADB 7 Sep, 2014 @ 6:17pm
this mod works with the invincible dogs mod right?
Degrelecence  [author] 20 Jul, 2014 @ 12:20pm
@ChloeScottieTerrier Your comments had nothing to do with the discussion or the mod and detract from information related to the mod. I've removed them so people don't have to wade through 5 paragraphs of dog facts for mod info.
Degrelecence  [author] 9 Jul, 2014 @ 10:25am
@crlynboggsbrt lol It IS modeled after a German but Germans look a lot like wolves, yeah.
s8lr 9 Jul, 2014 @ 8:32am
not to be rude or anything but its just a wolf
Degrelecence  [author] 12 May, 2014 @ 7:07pm
@sixtiesgirl :(
Shane Walsh 11 Apr, 2014 @ 7:57pm
Ok, thanks :)
Degrelecence  [author] 11 Apr, 2014 @ 7:36pm
Just kidding, it already says it in the description, no need to re-add it.
Degrelecence  [author] 11 Apr, 2014 @ 7:35pm
This does not effect the Dawnguard dogs as they are a differant mesh. This is just for the 'strays' as you put it. The companions effected are Meeko, Vigilance, and 'Stray Dog.' The non-companions effected are Barbas, Stump, Ysgramor, Tiber, and Torom.

Bran, CuSith, Garmr, and Sceolang (the dogs from Dawnguard) are not effected. I will update the description to say as much.
Shane Walsh 11 Apr, 2014 @ 3:59pm
I just got the Dawnuard DLC and I want to know if turning back on this mod will mess with the other dogs
Shane Walsh 11 Apr, 2014 @ 3:58pm
If I get this mod will the Huskies at Fort Dawnguard and Death Hound at Castle Volkihar turn into german shepards or just strays, Meeko and Vig.?
Texan Swift Fox 27 Mar, 2014 @ 7:20pm
Why do I keep getting an error when it tries to download in the Skyrim launcher?
Waswiththesauce 8 Mar, 2014 @ 7:26pm
i cant decide between husky or german shepard
Degrelecence  [author] 26 Dec, 2013 @ 9:06am
Unfortunately, the mods are mutually exclusive. If you download the husky mod and the german shephard mod then the newest one will be the skin for ALL dogs.
Shane Walsh 25 Dec, 2013 @ 5:03pm
if I got this mod then the husky mod would one dog be a husky and the other a german sheperd or would only one of them work?
So_Close_To_Pistachios 22 Dec, 2013 @ 11:16pm
Hey author I was wondering if you could make a mod that would allow you to buy a dog from a special npc that is unkillable or stay at the house of your choice.
