Butchers Can Count Meat

Disclaimer: Shameless plug :O

I've created a mod (for 1.1) which tackles this problem in a different way: Butchery bills now automatically only count meat that can be produced from one of the corpse types allowed as ingredients. https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2178417679

Looks like it's possible to fork my source on github. That's probably the best way. Find it here [github.com].

Rock5 Can you make them available. I would to work on it.

I would find this useful too if it was available for 1.0 and 1.1. I always have to micro-manage butcher jobs (which I create to keep specific amounts of meat on hand) when insect meat gets into the mix.

pz 1.1 update

I know that Tailoring jobs can count only allowed ingredients and/or count equipped. (dont remember if that is vanilla or not but i think it is for 1.0)
Wonder if similar code from that area could be used for meat counting?

I am just barely learning coding for HTML so DO NOT count on me, just throwing a thought out there.
I miss the mod that let me Mince the insect meat with other meat to HIDE it...now i just set my chemfuel refining to use insect meat forever for making fuel, and now insect raids/infestations are one of my main fuel build up sources.

I still have the source files. I can make them available if anyone asks.

I was looking for a mod that allowed the game to distinguish between insect, animal and human meat when counting for 'pause when satisfied' option when butchering. At the moment all meat is counted regardless of type which leads to some problems. If you or anyone else is up to reviving this mod for that purpose would definitely be useful. Many thanks

My priorities are elsewhere at the moment so don't expect me to do any updating.

What I meant was it might be easier for someone to make a new mod that forces the game to add the existing "Look everywhere" option to the butcher bill than it is to update this mod. If it's even possible of course.

BTW, I was wrong. It's not the butcher table that doesn't use the Look everywhere option. It's just the butcher jobs. The job for making Kibble, which is also made on the butcher table, has the Look everywhere option.

So Should we use your mod, or does that mean youll change/update it to what your thinking?
If what you do to it works it sounds useful still to have.

Actually this mod is probably absolete. Vanilla has now added 'Do until'.

On second thought, maybe not. Of all the workbenches, it looks like only the butcher workbench doesn't have the new 'Look everywhere' option. That's strange.

If the bucher table had the 'Look everywhere' option then you could have, for instance, a stockpile for just insect meat and have your insect butcher bill only count meat in your insect meat stockpile.

So I would say the easer way to implement this mod is just to force that option on the butcher table. No other features of this mod are really needed.

Fair enough, a guy in the rimworld discord chat said he might take a look at it.

I have other priorities at the moment and don't play anymore, so I don't see it being updated any time soon.

Unless someone else updates it, which they are welcome to do.

There is a problem with the display in languages other than English. I hope it is written correctly.

I think if they are defined as "Human" then I think so. If a new species is defined then they might get classed as animals. The mod basically says, if human then human meat, if insect then insect meat, everything else is animal meat.

Does the butcher human recepi include other humanoids we might have added to game?

this is what we need!

it's exactly what I wanted

I love you. Wanted that for years but i was too lazy to do it myself :)
Enlonwhite 27 Nov, 2017 @ 6:30am
Even if this isnt a perfect situation fix on all things. YOUR a GOSH DARN LIFE SAVER. So much micro managing can be fixed to not be needed with this. (yes human meat and insect will be a problem still on total count I think is what your hinting at).

However, I will either Mince it with mince that meat mod, or use it for kibble. (unless doing cannibal colony, tho i dont usually do that.)

THANKS for your awsome mod!

Even as I made My mod I was aware it wasn't an ideal solution. But it should suffice for most people. It's only when you use human/isect meat for livestock that you have a problem.

Ideally we need an input filter to count only certain items. A lot like Better Workbench Managers input filter for tailoring and weapon smithing. Even if we just had the "Match input ingredients" option that would solve our problem. I'll have another chat with the Better Workbench Manager dev.

I guess another solution might be to make extra bills such as "Butcher humans", " Butcher insect" and "Butcher animals" but that's still not ideal. Best would be to have an input filter.

Finally this is a thing. After seeing the 2nd picture with mod settings I have a question, does the Do until X count all types that are checked or is there a seperate "Do until X" for each type of meat?

If not, it would be great to impliment it that way because then you could have a Do until X bill for human/insect meat to feed cannibals/livestock without harming the bills using Do until X animal meat.
