In playtesting (IIRC), playing as the paneuropeans (Cali Seperatists) I ended up breaking the late-game stalemate by sending some GEVs around the Eastern flank. But yeah, most of the fighting will be in the west-center area. I was planning to add some objectives to my maps when the developers made them available in the scenario editor- but they never did. So with my bigger maps only a small portion of them will see much use.

The Paneuropeans get 30 points of infantry, and 20 points of armor in a central salient from the south end of the map. The Combine gets 24 points of infantry, and 25 points of armor, all on the first northern side hex row. The map is roughly 39 by 25.

It's a race to the center. Very little of the west, or east sides of the map will be used. Pretty map. Only Marin County gets used.

The bridges are gone, and the AI sets the Paneuropeans up on the north side of the bay, with no retreat, unless the players pick water crossing vehicles.

If the Combine can mass it's fires, it can kill units in urban and rubble hexes. The Paneuropeans have to consider retreating to the most defensible terrain.

This map of the Frisco bay area is a "Stalingrad" analogue- lots of rubble and urban terrain, with enough water and open ground to provide variety. The swamps represent land flooded due to global climate change and broken levies. The defender may decide whether to try to defend Vallejo or retreat south of the channel and hide behind swamps and open water.
