Straight katana's are historically accurate, if memory serves me well they are named "Tachi's" and unlike their two other brothers this one is meant to be a katana specifically meant for stabbing, sure you COULD slash with it, but not exactly the best option of the three.

One of them us supposed to be a "jack of all trades - perfect in nothing" alternative, good in every scenario but not perfect in any of them, mainly for the units that are just as often faced with armored as unarmored opposing forces. How they did it was to slightly curve the blade and make the end just a bit straighter than the curve in the blade.

And the other one, the traditional weabo was a curved blade that was ONLY used for opposing forces wearing no armor. It is also the most traditional variant.

ANYWAY that's why you often see samurai (or any unit) with multiple blades because all of them were very situational.

The only thing I really don't like about Solus in vanilla is that the hand guard gets bigger once you've upgraded it. Maybe I should make a mod about that...

I'M late too but:
It is true that swords the excel in cutting have curved blades
@Tnamrod is half right, they are curved to excel in cutting but it is chinese(according to google)
@Lesbian Supreme I am not a nerd because I googled all the stuff

lol

Prove me wrong then bud, if your just going to say I'm wrong with ZERO proof then it's honestly unbelievable, the curving happens due to the materials inside the fluid they quench the blade with, they then expanded upon this when they found the blades had a slight curvature, so bud if you can find your source for me being incorrect post it.

Lesbian Supreme sorry did I hurt your feelings? There is a better way to insult someone like how you could point out that I was wrong and I was spreading missinfo by saying that there is no choice in whether or not katana's were straight the curve happened during the curing process they had no choice. Instead you decided to bring your 0 IQ non-sense and just say a basic elementary playground insults that's aren't even insults, I take it as a complement instead I don't mind having no social skills i'd rather know more than someone that just decides to use basic three 4 letter words insults because they don't like someone's comment. Yeah I know I'm late but I think I'd like to get my two cents out.

Actually, the curve of the katana doesnt do anything, According to the designer, he said "Its cooler" in his notes
Aqua/H2O/Water (Stay hydrated) 27 Mar, 2018 @ 3:42am
The reason this is extremely historically inaccurate is because katanas were meant to be curved by nature, because the japanese had there own style of sword fight and the curve allows them to deal larger cuts and wounds to the enemy.
