i love when i get cash back on my momentum

Once I saw the big, huge, lit opening in the second room, solving went smoothly. Great map, great logic, and the last move was a pleasure :steamhappy:

I'm the dumbest person alive, how did I not see that you could use the second white floor in the second room to fling yourself up to the small area
LMSPatriotDofS 16 Jan, 2024 @ 6:54pm
This was a nice puzzle. Once I realised I had to keep a portal on each side of the map at all times , the solution revealed itself.

I still am not sure what the original way of doing this chamber is, but the way i found you could do it involved using the observation room window above the slanted panel in chamber 1, and going into the first drop of chamber 2 backwards.

Really cool puzzle idea. My only problem with it is that there are multiple drops which all have similar heights. So it's not obvious which drop is going to be the one that has enough momentum to make the final jump. (So first time through I felt like it was necessary to guess and check every drop distance before it became clear what the puzzle wanted you to be doing.)

5+ years later and I'm getting better at this, but not much  12/22

Best one so far.
HadronFive 7 Jan, 2023 @ 6:39pm
I like how you always think it's impossible, because "how will you ever get back to room 1 when you have to use two portals in room 2?" Oh right - if you use room 1 to gain momentum, you keep the portals in room 1. Again, it uses the concept, that in Portal, areas don't have to be locally close to each other. You can use something completely elsewhere to get there.

The key in this series is to keep in mind when you are able to walk to connected surfaces. Sometimes it's one-way i.e. a drop down. Sometimes it's all on the floor. At first, I didn't get why there is a surface up there in room 2. Then I realized that it is critical to walk over to room 1 and replace your Portal there - something that seemed impossible at first.

this chamber isn't difficult as long as you keep your portals in the right spot. Hint: The angled panel in the first room can provide access to the long fall platform, while also being accessible from the floor. You'll want to keep your portal there as a path between rooms.

nice and fun
CoffeeCoder 4 Apr, 2022 @ 8:37am
Jesus christ. I was stuck for 30 minutes because I didnt see you could walk over that goo...

I like your map . It is good.
DarkCloud 11 Jan, 2021 @ 1:00pm
Thanks for this one.
Riishuu 30 Nov, 2020 @ 6:29pm
One of my favorite puzzles in the pack. I had a hard time finding out how to do the last jump even after playing all the levels before it
Muzozavr 3 Oct, 2020 @ 3:23pm
A clever map based around serious re-use of space. Took me a while to realize where to get enough momentum for the final jump and how to link those spaces.
ALiC3m 24 Jun, 2020 @ 12:34pm
Not so easy to solve, it took me 45 minutes, but afterwards I felt great satisfaction and that's what I'm looking for!
Rubenjackson 24 Sep, 2018 @ 9:00am
Impossible to reach the final door.
MmmmmmhHHHhhhhhhmmmm 12 Jul, 2018 @ 3:33am
Nice chamber. I think I solved it way faster than the last time I went through it. Hint(outright solution): keep using the slanted surface from the first area
jandlml 17 Jun, 2018 @ 8:33pm
great map!
bullfrog 1 Jul, 2017 @ 12:51am
Great map. Lost track a few times, but got there in the end.
zigzagtenniscoe 28 Aug, 2016 @ 4:35pm
Wonderfully clever map. Ended up having to start over 3 different times because I messed up and didn't press F6 but thats ok. Like how you have to go in a circle in the second room and do the same thing twice to achieve something different but logically advance you towards the end goal. Not as hard as the last one in the series but still very enjoyable and clever, thanks for this :)
lfairban 15 Apr, 2016 @ 4:05pm
Great map! First I figured out how to make it work, then I looked at why.
Pamsy 15 Dec, 2015 @ 11:11pm
Fun map! Hint: there are enough different levels in chamber 2 to keep its color separate from that of chamber 1 -- you always need a hop in 2 to start the climb in 1.
Gigo  [author] 6 Dec, 2015 @ 1:11pm
I don't have the original files to most of the older maps I made and I would need to inform the others involved, but maybe it would be worth making another mappack and learning from the mistakes made in this one, if people would be for it
Ultimaximus 6 Dec, 2015 @ 1:07pm
Is it out of the question to try to remake some of the earlier levels, given that the series is almost 3 years old now?
Gigo  [author] 6 Dec, 2015 @ 12:58pm
Yeah imo the learning curve isn't steep enough towards the beginning; it takes too long to get hard enough to be fun
Ultimaximus 6 Dec, 2015 @ 12:50pm
The first No Element levels were honestly a little boring, but now they're pretty damn intellectually stimulating
40ozKilla 27 Sep, 2015 @ 7:00pm
Wow that one probably took me the longest of "No Elements" series and I really face palmed when I figured it out because in retrospect the solution should of came to me much faster. Thumbs up!
mikemoody 6 Apr, 2015 @ 7:12pm
Oh I'm following you now so I will play some more of your brain puzzles later. Thanks again.
mikemoody 6 Apr, 2015 @ 7:10pm
Wow that hurt my head, but a good hurt. Must pay close attention on portals cause you can't see what color you have at another place. I knew them slant panels would pay off in the end, and they did. Great map and Super puzzle. Thanks. Now I can rest. ")

L.H.O.O.Q. 22 Jul, 2014 @ 12:27pm
Never mind, I was trying to play it backwards .
L.H.O.O.Q. 22 Jul, 2014 @ 12:24pm
I must be missing something; the levels considered difficult and advanced are a lot easier for me than this one.
7uk454n 21 Mar, 2014 @ 1:32pm
wow that one was interesting. i was playing it for a while just looking for ways to link areas with portals and then suddenly i solved it almost by accident right when i made that last link. then i understood how i solved it.
quat 10 Mar, 2014 @ 5:20pm
Clever and circular . Took me a while to get the trick.

My favorite part was when I jumped off the second-highest jump and came within 1 square of the exit :P That was a funny moment for me.
The Sojourner 6 Sep, 2013 @ 5:08pm
There's a common theme throughout the "no elements" chambers, and thus the difficulty can't really get harder than medium (unless of course some crazy ninja/speedrunning skills are involved).

Did something change in this map from the last time I saw it? *yawwwn* I wasn't watching.
Spacesuit Spiff 9 Aug, 2013 @ 9:55am
Excellent work. Looks great, is understandable, and thinking its over and then discovering it's not, twice, was interesting. I may have been expecting more because it took a while to figure out the simplistic final step, though if that was your intent good job hiding it.

Very nicely designed, like it:)
Diego 12 May, 2013 @ 11:43am
That was a easy "No Elements" map.
ktait 9 May, 2013 @ 5:55am
Best No Elements so far. Contender for best puzzle I've played.
esmo 4 May, 2013 @ 1:04am
nice map, cheers
exr 1 May, 2013 @ 12:35am
This one took a while until I made it. After running around the map for a few minutes, I really had to stop and make a plot. :)
Joeliam 29 Apr, 2013 @ 10:41am
Wow, very good. I have no idea how you come up with chambers so complex and yet so simple but with no loop-holes. I just had to stop and think backward. Good chamber.
Geneosis 22 Apr, 2013 @ 1:00pm
Took me time to get the trick, that was a really clever use of momentum, well done ^^
herbusmc 20 Apr, 2013 @ 10:20pm
I love your maps. I agree with NicIO(--) though. Some of the earlier no elements maps were more difficult than this one, imo. Still, it felt pretty good to reach the exit! As always, thanks for the great map.
jbiggs2 12 Apr, 2013 @ 2:21pm
Absolutely brilliant!
