This is for the vanilla version right? because i haven't see it (and a few others in general) on my game..
andreykl 21 Dec, 2021 @ 2:18am
Like how it looks, but really needs some solars, and starter bases shouldn't start so pre-equiped, the whole point is to have some room for growth.

одно из лучших баз для начала . есть избыток конструкторов
hawlk2004 3 Jan, 2021 @ 5:37am
yeah i just built the santum and the boxes was picking up as HV boxes and the power was as if it was an Hv but picked as a base and cpu was 90%
jrandall  [author] 2 Jan, 2021 @ 3:27pm
Thank you Nuclear. This base is very old thou, so it might need a cpu core, new storage, etc. Thanks again.
hawlk2004 31 Dec, 2020 @ 1:49am
i normally build my own base that is much roomier how ever i like the look and will try it but i hate cannon turrets I'm going to change to gatlings
jrandall  [author] 29 Jun, 2020 @ 5:24am
Thank you Indifferent Orangutan, Revenant, and FoeKilla! :) @FoeKilla, nice work on the modded version! :) Thanks!

I've spent some time on this base now as well. This one took some puzzling out to keep at CPU Tier 1, Level 5 while adding a solar farm and keeping it a fully functional starter base. Storage starts out a little tight until you can unlock extensions though :)

Love this design, I would use it in survival but my only issue is that there is no room for a crew quarters or barracks. I would love to see an add on module that you can place close to this for bed, shower, toilet, and or a few medical devices. Thanks for the cheap base! :)

I used to go that direction, but I've found that lately a minimalist approach and brutalist architectural style lets me get back to raiding PoIs and stations quicker. By endgame my base might have expanded to the size of this, mainly due to having 6 of each seedling planted, but otherwise still pretty tiny. I tend not to build "everything" CVs too (though not always), because the smaller the CV, the less fuel mining I need to do. Of course this changes regularly...my latest save, I am hollowing out what has become almost en entire mountain to hold my base (probably 3x what I will really use). I'll probably do a feature on it, but it is totally unblueprintable due to the way it's fitted into the hollowed out mountain.
jrandall  [author] 7 May, 2019 @ 8:08am
Thanks Zombielord Ativan. lol. Well, it is small compared to many others I made. I guess I wanted the base to last until you get yourself a CV that does all the base functions. This is pretty old now and built around the alpha 6 time frame. A lot has changed since then. Thanks again!
GlassDeviant 7 May, 2019 @ 6:31am
Small? Starter? :)
charlie.razor 22 Dec, 2018 @ 8:37am
This one is future proofed for A9. Just need to swap out some boxes, and make some simple changes. Base design is below CPU count.
jrandall  [author] 30 Sep, 2018 @ 6:30am
Thanks Payden!
Payden 29 Sep, 2018 @ 3:26pm
I need to check this one out - I have Far Point Outposts scattered all over the system (warp to new world, find flat spot near water, spawn Far Point, tackle POIs, mine resources, rinse, repeat). Time to get out of my rut :) Thanks for the bulds!
Arisaema 14 Sep, 2018 @ 12:59pm
@jrandall the reason I add blocks is because terraforming janks with the game engine. It's much easier to build over the terrain or above the terrain than it is to flatten it or change it. Even if you flatten the terrain and drop a base on top the game engine still thinks for a while before you get into range and in range that the original terrain is there. By building over the terrain, you don't have that problem.
Demonianism 11 Sep, 2018 @ 2:21pm
I recommend changing the interior doors to non air-tight models, at least in the two engineering sections (or removing those two doors). As it is, on a planet with non-breathable atmosphere the two engineering compartments recieve no air.

You can remove the two extra ventilators in the farm sections if you change all the doors.
jrandall  [author] 11 Sep, 2018 @ 7:46am
Thanks rextor2 and Arisaema. @Arisaema, I guess I try to find a large enough area of flat ground to place it, but then run around with a drill and raise the terrain around the base making sure the bottom blocks are touching. It will not collapse until something is changed or altered on the base, so you have a safe time I guess. But even adding a block somewhere that is supported may cause another part of the base to collapse if not supported. Thanks again!
Arisaema 5 Sep, 2018 @ 11:43am
For the issues with this base collapsing, I'd recommend adding in a layer or two of concrete under the last spawned layer in the blueprint. This means taking it into creative and adding that in manually and resaving the blueprint. This gives you the flexibility of having additional block units supporting above layers incase the ground is not completely level.

jrandall  [author] 15 Jun, 2018 @ 12:24pm
Thanks Dragonan56! Yeah, I know he misses some things in these, but I really had nothing in place to say what R meant for instance. I am thinking about putting in a "legend" on future creations meant to add parts later on. Thanks again!
jrandall  [author] 15 Jun, 2018 @ 12:22pm
@crazyeyecarl, I recently collapsed a different base I was looking it. When I first spawned, it didn't fall apart, but as soon as I added something to it, being a cargo box, chunks of the base fell apart in areas I wasn't even at. So, it appears the game doesn't check the physics when it is first spawned, but as soon as anything changes at all, it checks the physics and can fall apart then. So, by adding the constructor, it didn't matter if it made it more solid in that place, it checked the whole base and it caved in then. My best advice with this base or any other base would be to inspect it a lot, raise up the terrain around the footing if needed, fill in any areas under it that are too low. It's kind of a strange behavior with this game. Concrete and wood structures are especially dangerous to have these things happen too. Thanks again.
Dragonan56 15 Jun, 2018 @ 12:19pm
Love this base,it's just what I need!! I'd just like to note that in MSG's play videos,he missed the M and R markings on the floor for your medic and repair stations.I also found space on the walls for the 2 new bed style med units.I stood them up against the wall next to the food processor and the storage containers. Then I put the other 2 units on either side of the stairs.Thx for the BP!!
crazyeyecarl 7 Jun, 2018 @ 8:31pm
This is true. HOWEVER Constructors do not hold weight, if anything they add weight. Which means that it shouldnt have made any difference if there was a constructor there or not.
jrandall  [author] 7 Jun, 2018 @ 5:39am
@crazyeyecarl. :( Being made with mainly concrete it is not a strong base. There must have been an area that was not supported by the ground well. When placing you have to make sure it is either placed on very level ground or raise the ground around and under the base so it is well supported and touching the blocks. I have done the same thing with other bases before. It normally does not collapse until something is changed. This goes for any base really. The concrete bases (cheaper) especially. Thanks.
crazyeyecarl 6 Jun, 2018 @ 10:04pm
Placed it, tried to remove a constructor for upgrade, the entire thing fell apart. Wasn't even on the ground for 5 minutes.
Arisaema 3 Jun, 2018 @ 12:48pm
@jrandall thanks, I'll give that a shot.
jrandall  [author] 3 Jun, 2018 @ 12:08pm
@Arisaema, I found that you can get stone really fast in alpha 8 if you use your drill in rock mode and go after regular rocks. The bigger ones produce a lot of stone quickly. You get some from mining as well, but much more from the rocks before having a drilling rig. Give that a shot. Should be quick to get the stone needed that way. Thanks
Arisaema 3 Jun, 2018 @ 12:02pm
jrandall, any chance of you making an 8.0 version of this replacing the concrete blocks for wood, or steel? stone dust seems not as available as it used to be.
jrandall  [author] 3 May, 2018 @ 6:25am
@The Lone Badger, yes. Each light covers a 3x3 chunk of grow plots. That is the max a grow light can cover but also the most efficient. Having more grow lights in the layout would not make anything grow faster. Thanks for the comment.
The Lone Badger 3 May, 2018 @ 5:13am
Are the preinstalled grow lights enough? The plots look rather dimly illuminated, but I don't know how important that is.
jrandall  [author] 11 Apr, 2018 @ 10:28am
Thanks Operator Hoot! I appreciate the comment. In follow to this base I did build a larger base also with a hangar which unlocks at level 5. It again has most all survival items in a room next to the hangar. It's call the Sanctum Installation. It is basically a scaled up version of this base, well, quite a lot bigger, but built to be as inexpensive as possible. However I do not like walking around to get to places so the layout getting around requires little walking to get to any game play useful area like crafting and farms. Just FYI. Thanks again!
Operator Hoot 11 Apr, 2018 @ 8:22am
Although this base unlocks at lvl 3, I've done 3 starts, (just as experiments while waiting for 8.0) focusing solely on gathering the resources for this base and am never able to build it before level 5. You may as well add the Hangar door :D

I love this design, as a mostly single player, this base can cater to all my needs up to lvl 20+. I usually have the resources to build a bigger base, but I don't actually need it. If you hit the slanted corner of the base right with a nose up HV you can usually park on the landing pad, so the lack of a hangar isn't an issue for me. I'm not a fan of bases that are huge and spread out, as a single player you have to do everything yourself, so having everything in close proximity means not spending your time walking between different crafting areas, hangars, med bays etc. So this base is perfect for that.
jrandall  [author] 24 Mar, 2018 @ 7:46am
Thanks Alex Mihai. I was curious in how much sathium that would take. With PVP, I thought you wanted things with 3-4 layers thick of armor blocks before reaching the inside or componets. Is that the case? Just curious. Thanks again.
☆C.M.A.☆ 24 Mar, 2018 @ 5:58am
the base can be pvp too man just take in creative an replace all blocks into armored concrete!
jrandall  [author] 18 Mar, 2018 @ 5:09am
Thanks Aelondon! I haven't really made PVP items to date, but I have been thinking about possible designs for PVP for various types of items. Thanks again!
Aeladon 17 Mar, 2018 @ 10:55pm
gotta say, excellent job on this base man. this is our go to base for the pve planet. i'd love to see a pvp version of this.

Thanks Jaguar1965.

Great starter base, I wanted to farm early in order to get leveled as quickly as possible, and the protection was great. Fantastic job, great base.

ForgeDrake and jasonwright4838, thanks for the comments!

Spawned this in my survival world. This is a very solid first base, and you can not go wrong with this choice. I like the look so much I am working my way towards getting the vehicles in this series! Thank you for a great product!
ForgeTec 7 Mar, 2018 @ 5:00am
got to say this base really made me rethink and push my own designs - it really is the meter stick of a starter base
jrandall  [author] 21 Feb, 2018 @ 7:10pm
Thanks for the comments webwolf1. There was a bit of debate about not putting a floor in the farm rooms. I did it that way to save some costs, well, 72 blocks. I decided not to add the floor because they were sectioned off from the rest of the base. However, I do see your point. If you don't have enough plots to fill a room at once, which you most likely will not, you still have to fill them in before a farm can work. Also like you said, in a inhospitible environment just placing the blocks could cause some harm. Just to note, I am planning on building revised version of this base which will have the farms sealed and be able to handle HV's. I don't know when I will get to it yet as I want to finish a current small project first, and a special version of the new MX3. Both of these are pretty quick things however, and then I will work on a new varient of this base. Thanks again for the comments.
webwolf1 21 Feb, 2018 @ 6:29pm
Also, I found that if you put a pair of slope blocks over one of the back windows, the roof doubles nicely as an HV parking area.
webwolf1 21 Feb, 2018 @ 6:28pm
Hey Jrandall, I *love* this design, used it twice in my last survival game. I'd like to recommend putting something lightweight and airtight in the spaces that will be filled with plots, though. If you plop this down on an inhospitible planet, you're gonna have to fill them up to get air flow stabilized in the base.

This is a perfect base starter or not. Though i do love that it can be built so early on and its so functional. Any minor features it may not have can be easily added due to its simple overall shape. This is the first and only base i ever really build now. Great job!
