But then I would have to make shapes with the exact arrangements of ports, and then the mod would be a bit harder to build with, less fluid, etc.
If a whole compound could do a single thing, that would definitely be added, but, sadly, I don’t think that that is possible. What a pity indeed.
I'm also thinking that the inert gases can be shields or drones, instead of H as shields. alkaline metals can then be made as explosives due to their high reactivity. No idea about halogens and transition metals tho, but iron, cobalt and nickel should hopefully be someting interesting because they can be attracted by magnet.
There will be considerably more realism and stuff for Compounds: Benzene Edition, I’ve made double and triple bonds and all the shapes necessary to build with. Now I just need to make the blocks file with them in it.
I also require a lot of atom ideas. Like, what, say, Magnesium would be as a block. If you (or anyone else) has any ideas, please post them here.
nice idea tho, especially the bonding mechanism, but I do hope to see these atoms that form 5 or 6 bonds :D
And the mod already goes against my interpretation of the design philosophy of Reassembly: build something well and it will do well. The sentinel Nuclear Option goes against the philosophy as well: put 2 on a very stupid, unarmored ship and you can kill absolutely any ship, even in tournaments. It’s just dumb, and the game gets boring quickly.
And that’s why I don’t like OP factions. Don’t expect me to make any more soon. Even though the OPness of this faction probably gave me all of its subscribers.

Nothing Personal, Kid
I do have a bug though, I just found out that the "Factory" cannot spawn ships because it does not have enough space. Is it because the spawner is inside [i/] the coumpound?
I think it would be cool if lets say, Chlorine was a power reactor, but explodes violently when broken. I have a very keen intrest in elements aswel, and I'm gald to see them brought into one of my favorite games.
I realize atoms in organic molecules are never really in neat formations, unlike salt crystals. The closest organic molecules get to neat geometric structures are benzene rings, but these are mostly carbon. I can only imagine the difficulty in implementing double and triple bonds while maintaining an orderly 2D representation. Design is hard!
I loved the references to radioactive decay and ionic bonding.
I can only think of adding electronegative hydrogen atoms (bonded to oxygen or nitrogen) repelling projectiles as point defense. Maybe this could be implemented as a repulsor beam, perhaps with a bit of damage?
Anywho, this is a great mod! :D
And for curved bonds? I actually should try that...
Hopefully I answered your question adequately.
And, of course, is there anything you would like to see be added to the mod?
They arent, also cool mod, like the clever names and work put in.
