Hello! I would like to begin my WH2 journey once the game gets its final updates/patches/tweaks and so on. I have no modding experience but I would like to continue the work you started here. Namely, I would like to create a very simple mod that forbids the AI from occupying unsuitable territories (orange & red climates relative to its faction). Mainly for my personal use, but if other people find it interesting, that's great. Could I contact you for some discussions on the topic?

Well, Bretonnia decided to colonize all of Norsca so I think the AI went bonkers again.

I did not test or change anything for a while and really don't know myself. Sorry I can't help you here atm. Maybe give it a try and see yourself.

@DaTroll When you say "it needs to be updated", what are you referring to? Is there any non negligeable issues caused by the fact this (quite useful imo) mod is outdated?

It needs to be updated, but I don't plan to currently. The standard AI handles settling good enough with the current patch imho.

I believe it still works in SP but me and my friend could only start a MP campaign after we both disabled this mod (and just this mod - we narrowed it down and everything else worked fine).

@NaiveMastermind If there was a way to literally make certain factions have a 0% chance of settling unsuitable climates then that would be perfect. However, I don't think that value exists... You're only able to determine how likely it is from very unlikely to very likely, I believe.

I believe we only ever needed red and green climates, and that the AI should simply never colonize anything it's race considers red.

It just spergs out my inner fanboy, seeing Toddy colonize Norsca. Not as much as seeing Morathi and Tyrion 'unite against us' in vanilla, but you get the point,

@Archaon I doubt that the Full Climate Overhaul still functions as it should, it's an old relic from Leylos who's done with modding. I have my own mod called MrFestis' Climate tweaks, which is not exactly the same but similar. Has some AI improvements in it aswell, but mostly focuses on racial climate preferences and settlement climate tweaks

I think they did edit the chances of settlement capture for the Vampire Coast factions, not sure if that's tied to this though

This mod does not forbid certain races to colonize everywhere! It just alters how like it is to settle in non optimal regions.

To this day, I've no idea if this mod actually works. I've run three or four automated campaigns with the Crynsos tool, but the map gets all colonized, with the Empire often conquering Norsca. Am I missing something?

That's no bug of my (or any others mod). PFM simply has no description for the columns in its schema.
You can use RPFM to see the column names perfectly fine.

I think I've found a bug. Have a look at the column names in the tables in your mod. They look like they got corrupted. If I understand this correctly, the column names when you open your mod with the Pack File Manager should be the same as the column names in the equivalent tables when you open CA's database with DaVE, and they're not.

I'm sorry to say that this mod isn't really working for me either. I've had Vampire Counts over the whole world (including the Chaos regions) in prior Mortal Empires sessions. I've currently got Men in mountainous regions, High Elves invading Bretonnia, and the Wood Elves have gone berserk and are taking over territories in mountains and anything within reach. The Isolationist faction trait didn't work for me prior to downloading this mod, and it still doesn't work with this mod.
