this mod does work in 2024 for anyone wondering, but conflicts with certain mods that change textures.

Sadly, this shit is not compatible with the Civ V skin mod, which kind of defeats the purpose.

THis works with Gathering storm up to a point. I made the mistake of building that early game wonder on Marsh and when I changed my mind and reloaded same turn the mod was removed from the gamesave T__T

How much money would I need to scrape together to commission an update to this mod? The angry tan fog of war is intolerable.

It was working for me today. Full disclosure, my game did hang on turn 32, but then I'm running more about 25 mods, so there's a conflict somewhere, but I doubt it's this one. (I have all DLC, versions, and the frontier pass)

I'm so waiting for a new version. The FOW is what keeps me from playing this game; I don't mind the vanilla FOW fpr unexplored areas, but the way areas are being shown that I don't have vision on anymore drives me nuts.

Hey everyone! I've been away for a while, but I'm back with a freshly built PC and mentally prepared to mod this game again.

Alternative FOW was my biggest project in terms of working with the game textures and graphics, and it won't be receiving an update right away since I'll be updating some of my other mods first. I'm planning to make a new version though with a new Steam page, and I'll have your feedback here to work from as well. I'll post and comment a link to once I create the new version.

As far as I can tell, most of this mod seems to be working except for farm textures in the fog still being map-yellow. Is there any way to specifically modify that? Or is there another fog mod that is updated?

Same with fusrodah, doesn't seem to want to allow the Civ V skin with the full Civ V clouds. Is there anything we can do or edit, or do we need to wait for compatability?

I'm not sure what causes the problem just yet, but there are times when the mod loads ONLY the unexplored clouds; the fog of war remains uncolored except for whatever terrain adjustments/resources are on the tile. I double-check and confirm that it is this mod I'm using and not any of the other Civ V cloud mods, and I'm not subscribed to any of the others either.

I have found that if you run the game in DX12 mode it always works. But if you run in DX10/11 mode you sometimes get the "Squids" issue. Dont know if that helps at all. Would be nice to have it working in both modes.

I have also tested it in a local multi-player game a while back and saw exactly what everyone has been talking about with the squids. Saved the multi-player game, then reloaded it with the mod still enabled, and that fixed it for my friend. I've found something I can change to try to eliminate this (will be in the next update), but for now it should be fixable by just reloading the game. In that sense, it seems to be more of a bug with the game's moddable art system.

Tried your mod today with friends in multiplayer and unfortunaltely one got the "Squids" bug, so we had to disable it again =/
Do you have an ETA on when you will update the mod? Or did you found the cause of this bug and first release this? After that you have more time to add other features/adjustments you are planning.

That is true. When I initially made it, I just made the hill texture darker so that you can tell. One thing I am planning on changing is making the mid fog textures a bit brighter and hopefully make hills more clear as well.

I think it is hard to see in the FOW, if a tile is a hill or not. cause the new FOW texture does look similar to hills

Also in the next update will be a minor change addressing possible issues sometimes with squids in the FOW. Also some compatibility for clear resource icons for more resource mods.

Squids are back again for me fairly regularly now but I think disabling the mod from the in-game menu, relaunching the game, and enabling the mod fixes it
