Either I have a bug or another mod is canabilizing the effects....for some reason both this mod and the Petra are not providing food on deserts. All other effects that give stuff to deserts seem to work fine though.

I went here on an elementary school field trip years ago. Totally amazing place.

I dig this wonder but I thought the art was a bit lackluster. I found a good one you may prefer:

Having this and petra at the same time while playing as morocco with lots of desert hills -> good game.

Does the one that provides culture (The Mada'In Saleh, I believe) follow that same code? Because as I said it provides for everywhere too :]
Pouakai  [author] 26 Jan, 2014 @ 8:50pm
It uses exactly the same code as Petra, so I see no reason it should work differently
Nacho Man Randy Cabbage 26 Jan, 2014 @ 2:01pm
Well it extended across my whole empire, and I'm not complaining :D It probably doesn't 'specify' in the code. Certainly doesn't in the description. But no, it doesn't work like the Petra, at least in the two games where I've used it. Neither does that other one of yours that slaps culture on desert tiles too. Don't remember which one it is. Honestly I think my idea would be a really good upgrade >.>
Pouakai  [author] 25 Jan, 2014 @ 12:30am
I think you're mistaken - Mesa Verde should only provide food from deserts in the city it's built in, not everywhere. And if it does provide it everywhere, I should find out how I did that

While people seem to be calling this Wonder overpowered I only half-agree. The idea behind World Wonders should not be 'this effect is too powerful to be used'. WW's are meant to be powerful because only ONE can be built in the entire game. WWs are a mini arm's race between Civs and should be treated as such. If you end up building certain WWs that stack bonuses like this, then more power to you; you've created a juggernaut by finishing the race first.
However, unlike the Petra, which limits the desert food yield to the singular city that it's in, Mesa Verde provides it to ALL desert tiles for your Civ, which is much more powerful than the Petra, but in that sense also a MUCH better investment. I think a really good compromise would be to not have it as an option so early in the game, perhaps move it from Trapping to Archaeology (with a relative Production requirement increase), just as an idea from that Roosevelt quote up there.
Venusaisha 9 Jan, 2014 @ 3:29am
yes it dose work & apear in civilipedia, thou as some say overpowered therefore may haffta remove sorry.
SilverHead 27 Jul, 2013 @ 5:26pm
In BNW the Petra bonus doesn't work on flood plains so it makes this wonder good and balanced in my opinion.
ENDGEGNER 5 Jun, 2013 @ 5:53am
This wonder is totaly overpowered if you know how to play it. I've managed to build petra and this wonder together on a place which has mostly flood plains and desert hills and it wasn't a problem to win the game because the city growed so fast that i could build all wonders in 2-4 turns.
guys 1 Jun, 2013 @ 6:53pm
It's a shame that the Pueblo didn't make it into BNW (but at the same time it's good to see Firaxis respect their wishes), as for balancing it a little, maybe restrict it to requiring a mountain nearby, the + 1 food from desert tiles is fine for it's true strength lies with combination of the Petra (which is likely recieving a nerf in BNW), so on harder difficulties it's quite balanced for you likely miss out on other wonders like the GL or HG to obtain it.
DerEider 17 Apr, 2013 @ 4:31am
@Pouakai, don't think change to flood plains is appropriate. The Pueblos had lots of desert that they made productive; not a whole lot of flood plains.
@DoctuhD, as to Petra, it would be difficult for the Player to get both unless the AI's are inert, Wonderly speaking. The AI's build wonders too.

@Pouakai
Hey. It's working fine for me, I just hadn't finessed the mod setup. Please excuse my totally inept adoption of this whole deal, sisters & brothers!

This wonder is super-cool, and I hope that if you DO change it, don't go too far in the weakening direction, if ya know what I mean.

Thanks for it, by the way!
Pouakai  [author] 7 Apr, 2013 @ 11:37am
Cheers for the feedback - I might change it to 1 food and 1 gold on Flood plains - how does that sound? As for the GP Generation thing, new cities don't increase the cost of Great People, so that's out of the question
Doc Deranged 7 Apr, 2013 @ 11:22am
I love this wonder and would love to see it in game, but +1 food for each desert tile seems really overpowered, especially since it's in the same tree as Petra. Plus, the Pueblo weren't really a people who had a large population, being much more known for their religioun and trade (if they were a civ they'd be played wide) - so it seems gold or faith would be much more applicable. At the risk of being overly critical, I would like to add that it would be even better if instead of 50% GP gen, it made founding new cities increase the cost of great people by 50% less than normal. These are just my lines of thought - still glad you took the time to put this in!
Pouakai  [author] 31 Mar, 2013 @ 10:33am
Where is it not showing up - the mod menu (Where you select mods) or the build menu (when you want to build it)?
Silencio Beta 31 Mar, 2013 @ 5:27am
For some reason I'm not gaining the option to use, though all requirements met. Try once more, then unsubscribing.

+25% for great person would be much fairer, especially considering the main use is the food bonus which also affect flood plains (unlike petra). if you find a desert with some hills and a river, build this and petra you win the game. Mega city right there.
Odryssa 8 Mar, 2013 @ 10:43pm
I do not know ... Thank you anyway, your Mesa Verde would have been cool ;)
Pouakai  [author] 8 Mar, 2013 @ 3:31pm
Huh. Try downloading it from CivFanatics and manually installing it
Odryssa 8 Mar, 2013 @ 11:39am
I did but it does not work. Yet I have the last extansion and I restarted Steam...
Pouakai  [author] 8 Mar, 2013 @ 11:01am
Click on the subscribe button, and it should appear ingame once you start it
Odryssa 8 Mar, 2013 @ 10:39am
How do you download Mesa Verde to appear in the game?
Pouakai  [author] 7 Mar, 2013 @ 10:40am
I chose +50% instead of +25% as only +25% would make it equal to the Garden, which is pretty pathetic for a wonder
aidnez 7 Mar, 2013 @ 5:08am
oops that = should be a + so sorry
aidnez 7 Mar, 2013 @ 5:08am
Not, bad, but I think +50% great person generation is a bit OP. =25% would be good
cedric.yvon 7 Mar, 2013 @ 1:59am
thank you :)
Pouakai  [author] 6 Mar, 2013 @ 9:29am
You can download them at CivFanatics or here and then play in offline mode once they're downloaded
cedric.yvon 6 Mar, 2013 @ 1:17am
I mean i was seduce by the mod concept but i have internet access only 40 % of my playing time and i just notice i can't load civ5 game with mods with no internet access.
It's really pity.
Pouakai  [author] 6 Mar, 2013 @ 1:12am
I'm not sure what you mean Cedric?
cedric.yvon 6 Mar, 2013 @ 1:02am
the problem with mod is the internet dependancy.
ShepQ 5 Mar, 2013 @ 3:52pm
Nice idea. Looking forward to playing with this mod.
OuCH 5 Mar, 2013 @ 10:01am
Very cool

live in the city which reaps the benefit of those tasty tourist dollars, will build
Economic Terrorist 4 Mar, 2013 @ 12:49pm
Nice.
Zark 4 Mar, 2013 @ 8:24am
Personally I would have made the prerequisite being next to or near a mountain as it is a cliff dwelling. And possibly instead of the bonus food on deserts (seeing as the main application of that is a further boost towards oases and desert floodplains, which is more of a Middle Eastern-North African feature) there is a bonus growth rate or defense bonus to cities built next to mountains? That seems more in line with what the Mesa Verde was actually used for. Just a thought, it's a great idea for a mod either way.
FellowEarthling 3 Mar, 2013 @ 8:35pm
classy mod
rafer1997 3 Mar, 2013 @ 2:34pm
I've been to mesa verde too.Awesome place. It is fit to be called a wonder of the world
PickledLiver 3 Mar, 2013 @ 2:10pm
Combined with Petra this is a hugely unbalancing wonder for desert cities.
bumcykcykhopsiup 3 Mar, 2013 @ 1:21pm
+1food from the housing? it does not make sense. it could add some (smaller) bonus similiar to aqueducts or defense bonus, but honestly, +1 food and +50% of great people? c'mon...
bsocalk 3 Mar, 2013 @ 11:09am
Wouldn't masonry be a more logical prereq?
Borkchop 2 Mar, 2013 @ 4:24pm
Cool wonder! Desert tiles need more attention from wonder benefits. Alas, my hobbled mac version does not support mods :(.
Grim Shiada 2 Mar, 2013 @ 12:07pm
ive been to Mesa Verde last summer and you are 100% correct on what it looks like. but im sure you have been to Mesa Verde as well. :)
Emmie 2 Mar, 2013 @ 4:33am
Awesome!
