Beautifully meaty map. It's my favorite from you,and is one of the few maps i've done where my frustrations felt 100% worth it. The major re-spawn is one of the densest sequences i've solved. And the track platform usage? So rich. Favorited this long ago, but I just wanted to make my thoughts public :p One of the best.

Flows really nicely, but I expected it to last just a little longer given the difficulty rating haha

Couple thoughts:

One, this is a very nice challenging puzzle.
Two, and I'm sure others noticed this, but really wish the cubes were color-coded. XD
Three, it made me nervous blindly stepping onto the track platform while blocking the laser. Since missing it would make me into a nice acid soup.
Four, the timer on the door is really tight but I just made it.

Cool and difficult puzzle. I had to do a lot of thinking backward from the goal to figure out what the middle should look like. I did have to do two moves that I thought were unintended in order to finish but it seems like only 1 was actually unintended and i just barely missed seeing the intended move so I solved this like 98% of the way :)

The unintended move was at 2:56 in the solution video I was able to swap cubes immediately by holding the cube above my head and aimed at the relay to raise the stairs. .

I was surprised to find the second "sus" move of holding the cube above your head to block the laser for the moving platform was intended especially after doing the other unintended move. Maybe outlining what types of moves are and aren't intended in the description can help?

Thoughts (SPOILERS and COARSE LANGUAGE ahead! [telegra.ph] It's a bit lengthy, so I'm gonna avoid spamming the comments section this time.

TLDR? One of the best and hardest maps I've played in the Workshop. Many steps early on took me several minutes to work out, and the later ones even longer. It's crazy that someone decided to turn Chamber 1 of Synthesis, not an easy one in its own right, up to 11.

It's a shame the music doesn't loop in the sense that other tracks do, and colored cubes would have been a major benefit. There's some tight angles, and I never noticed the ever-so-vital high wall near the exit for a while into my run. But these are rather minor flaws that, honestly, go up in flames when you're playing this fiery map.

Absolutely phenomenal job. Have a massively well-deserved favorite.

Difficulty: 9.25/10
Design: 9.5/10
Enjoyed: 10/10

Nice puzzle. Very easy to skip the entire thing by just bunny-hopping but I still took the time to go through the puzzle the intended way. My only criticism would be that the final laser angles were rather tight, I had to spend a bit of time positioning the cubes correctly

Strong puzzle - enjoyed the means of respawning the high cube

It took me three hours to finally solve it. The difficulty is to achieve some laser angles
TIP : You need to lift the square

BRAIN MELTDOWN, good design, I could see the possibilities of next step.

I think this is the best level I've ever played. I was stuck on it for many weeks and 7-8 sessions before I finally figured it out. I guess I enjoy being stumped. Thank you for creating!

The hardest part for me was seeing that I can get the rerouted laser without dropping down :steamfacepalm::steamfacepalm::steamfacepalm: Obviously I was very confused to start with. So much so, that I had to re-visit Synthesis and replicate the solution step by step here... Unfortunately, not before looking at some spoiler tags, which might be why the rest of the level went by very smoothly(or it might just be me :winter2019cooldog:). Loved it overall!

gud map but please color the cubes

Still a brilliant puzzle and definitely deserves to be in my list of favourites.

I would prefer specific information about problems with the map that I might be able to fix.

it took me < 30 seconds to find a huge hole to exit

Care to explain your comment or?

Wow, a long difficult complicated map! Thanks for the walkthrough!
HankyMueller  [author] 10 Mar, 2020 @ 3:18pm
I think previous comments have made it clear that that is not intended...
Dark Rozen 10 Mar, 2020 @ 10:14am
I bear it with only the button, Are you sure this is supposed to be hard?
hub 24 Feb, 2020 @ 5:09am
a vertical cube: https://youtu.be/ZVC8rjAlbPI as mentioned below, and it was not really hard

This one took me a while, but wow, what an incredible puzzle. Respawning the second cube is what tripped me up; something as simple as "exit fizzler room, [i[then[/i] shoot portal" was for some reason esoteric to my mind. Thanks for labeling this medium-hard; I get to pretend I'm not an idiot.
zeo1337 17 Aug, 2019 @ 12:35pm
Solved it myself, good puzzle, loved the ... cube thing ... at the end, as well as the very effective use of the platforms.
zeo1337 17 Aug, 2019 @ 12:33pm
@Pwner's Manual, that's less of a cheat and more of a fast way to fix it if you messed it up.
lfairban 19 Jul, 2019 @ 6:54pm
Great Puzzle! Did it twice using exploits, Pwner's friend's and another. Had to watch the video to see how to do it correctly. Would have been a lot easier with different colored reflector cubes.
Pwner’s Manual 18 Jul, 2019 @ 9:54am
I'd also like to note, my friend found an unrelated exploit:
When switching cubes the second time, where you would normally need to direct the laser into the highest catcher, you can instead go to the source where the stairs are disabled and hold a cube up to spike the laser relay, which will trigger the stairs and catapult you upward. He was able to get on the platform and switch cubes this way without respawning the cube.
Nobody No-One 17 Jul, 2019 @ 9:26pm
I'm curious as to how a vertical cube would help break the map.
Vapid Clay 16 Jul, 2019 @ 1:41pm
@Pwner's Manual I also used a vertical cube. Having not yet solved the map correctly, I'm pretty sure the right way has to be harder. Once you have a portal in the fizzler room can entirely skip the rest of the puzzle and be out of there with a few easy moves.

I'm definitely going to try to solve this the right way. It's too elegant a puzzle not to.
Pwner’s Manual 13 Jul, 2019 @ 9:10am
@Dr. Strangelove the intended solution does not involve cubes redirecting the laser vertically That said, if you can do it that way, probably just as hard!
Pwner’s Manual 13 Jul, 2019 @ 9:08am
I finally did it by myself! Now I can fully appreciate the masterpiece.
Dr. Strangelove 11 Jul, 2019 @ 10:33pm
Great puzzle, very tight design. Solved it but I was wondering if the intended solution involve using a vertical cube at one point - don't want to watch the WK in case this was not intended and there is another solution..
SteemStream 8 Jul, 2019 @ 7:51pm
I describe my thought in the description. https://youtu.be/lzR_J7Lm9tQ
SteemStream 8 Jul, 2019 @ 7:29pm
Interesting, turns out I broke the map in another way, I'll upload a video soon showing how I did it.
SteemStream 7 Jul, 2019 @ 9:57pm
Nvm, went back in and realized i was being dumb in the last comment, why I actually broke it was because i bunny hopped to get to the exit faster when using the portable surfaces near the entrance.
SteemStream 7 Jul, 2019 @ 9:53pm
Oh, looks like I broke it, You can blame that auto portal surface near the exit door though, i was able to put the portal off center and control the rail platform remotely by moving my portal, then just pressing the button and booking it.
SteemStream 7 Jul, 2019 @ 9:43pm
How most Hanky maps go: Ok, I got both cubes.... now what.

woah
Spider_Dawg 28 Apr, 2019 @ 11:58am
Had great difficulty, and turns out I used the same unintended solution Mikeastro mentioned while trying to figure out HTF to switch the cubes a second time. Very cool map.
Andi 25 Apr, 2019 @ 3:36pm
Masterpiece! Took me a while to solve but everything is running smoothly.
Narkodes 25 Apr, 2019 @ 3:31pm
PERFECT puzzle, best map I've played in the last couple of weeks. But I don't like the visual style, it's too dark (and red) for me. Thanks for creating.
Mikeastro 4 Aug, 2018 @ 8:01am
If we're pointing out small details, it is also possible to aim at the laser relay holding the cube above your head so that the stairs pop up and you can bypass the most subtle cube switch - it's fiddly in the execution but very doable; I think it is easily fixed by making the stairs twice as high, since you have the space there to make the pit a tad deeper
HankyMueller  [author] 4 Aug, 2018 @ 7:30am
Mostly intended. Only unintended bit was the way you recalled the laser catcher cube at 1:43. Think I have an idea how to fix that. Thanks for playing!

My 6 minutes (lots of impossible angles) https://youtu.be/lNWm-LemBfs (update 12)
HankyMueller  [author] 3 Aug, 2018 @ 9:07pm
Thanks for the high praise! Out of all my chambers, I may be proudest of this one. I feel it's
very representative of my mapping style even though it's technically a "remake".
