thankyou for playing.
as for android's:
I don't think they are that smart.
if they were, they would not have shot at us, on many maps, in the 1st place.
revenge is sweet :)
the fire goes out. then catch them & they won't explode.
as for accidentaly killing a few.
that is why I gave you spares :)
the others can watch you torture their friends & know their time will come.
if having difficulties. the video's & the description, will help.
glad you liked it.
did you try all the different ways to get payback, that were in the video ?
& did you find the exit ok ?
great :)
this is just a bit of fun / revenge :)
not a puzzle.
a rare map, where you need to know what to do, before you play.
to get the most out of it.
hence the video's & description.
as it says in the name:
"Turret Hell-how to torture a turret- please read description & watch videos 1st. "
it is literaly ways to torture turrets.
the 2 video's, is to help you see how.
funny is good.
this map is not ment to be a puzzle.
but when I descovered how I could torture turrets, I had to share.
more for those who want something different, for a change.
& those who have been sot so many times, revenge is sweet.
I hope you watched the video's, to see the posibilities.
& not miss out.
thankyou for your comments.
I could not see any of your maps, to subscribe to.
thankyou for your advice.
I can't bring myself to cut the "Turret Hell"
from the description.
as it describes it (from the turrets point of view) so well :)
as for the video URL
this is there, in case they want to copy & paste it into thier browser.
the video's are also attatched to this page, just above the thumbs up / down.
for them to just click on, to make it easy to quickly access.
If you want to fit the text into your instruction better, you could drop the "Turret Hell" and rename the level:
How to Torture a Turret (please read description first)
By my count, that would display in the user's queue as:
How to Torture a Turret (please read descr
That should give them enough info, since the description then points them to the videos.
Also, (I think) you could use the URL tag to make the videos jump out from the rest of the description. Like this:
[url=http://youtu.be/rchM4EuHATM]4-minute video[/url]
19-minute video
as you like turret fireworks.
I recommend trying geneosis's map:
https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=79078517
thankyou very much for your feedback.
I have just subscribed to your map:
Save the Cube, Kill the Turrets
I don't know how to make text come onscreen in the map.
I doubt it is possible in the basic editor.
I have added:
"please read description & watch videos 1st."
to the title.
though you can only view the full title, on this page.
strange that :)
u HAT'M !!
but I love them.
slowly cooking by laser :)
u HAT'M !!
How to get people to read your description right before playing? Can you make text come up onscreen in the level itself?
Something like "For detailed instructions on how to make the most of your turret torturing experience, please read the level description before proceeding...?"
More thoughts:
I loved whatever strange thing happened to the turrets in the... second room? It reminded me a little of fireworks.
I had the idea to do a semi-long ride on faithplates, but there's no way I could top this one -- with faithplates on the walls, etc.
If you want to play my latest, it has a measly 3-faithplate fling at one point -- to speed you to where you need to go:
Save the Cube, Kill the Turrets
It's large in size, but I think it goes pretty quickly once you see what you're trying to do.
And now, time to watch the videos that I was supposed to have watched before I started! :-)
Wow! That was nuts! :-)
I'll try to think of some way to put into words how ridiculous and fun that was in a minute.
But first... actual feedback:
I gather you really want people to read the level description just before playing. If so, you might have to build something into the level itself.
I downloaded this level last night, and didn't read its description. Tonight, I launched it.
I remember as I manipulated the spheres (putting them into their buttons and taking them out one at a time), and then later shot blue gel all over the turrets on top of the lightbridges, I got the nagging feeling that I wasn't doing things the way you intended me to.
In my business, there's a saying: Users don't read! :-o
great :)
glad you liked it.
did you watch the non-spoiler video's.
& did they help you get more from the map ?
thankyou for testing / torturing :)
they tortured us enough.
I thought time for some payback.
hope you watched the video's / guide, to help you get the most from it ?
only a very few people have seen turrets in the wild.
so far, none have survived to talk about it.
Good stress relief, thumbs up
ps.
I just subscribed to your map: A turret.
did you watch the 2 videos,
which show what you can do to get the most out of it ?
how did you fall into the goo.
in testing, when coming off a faithplate, the only way to die, was to try to alter your course.
as for not quite your cup of tea.
fair enough.
glad you found it interesting.
I just subscribed to your map: Self-correction
thankyou for being more specific, about what you liked :)
I just published a new map if you are interested ;)
thankyou for your positive comments :)
you have been an inspiration, with your maps.
glad you had fun, & hopefully learned something new, in the main room.
as for the rollercoaster.
I had to have a surprise (not in the video's, for the player) .
to round it off.
I deliberatly don't connect some of the faithplates, & have turrets shoot the player.
to create a feeling of danger, for the player.
while they are actualy safe.
hope no deaths ?
hopefully I tested them out.
the turrets above the exit are killable.
that chamber was deliberatly dark.
but when I updated somethings in another chamber.
it became a lot lighter, for some unknown reason.
when you make another map. hopefully soon :)
feel free to link it into the comments of 1 of my maps, & I will play it.
thankyou.
I just subscribed.
I just subscribed to your map.
thankyou for playing mine.
glad you had fun.
Here's my latest , if you get a chance.
thankyou for your feedback.
I thought you might find it interesting.
I know you have pushed the limits of the editor, in your maps.
I did place gel into the blinking funel with the turret, in the 1 video.
when you make another map, leave a link & I will play it.
I hope you make 1 soon.
as you have been a great inspiration to me.
I admit, I could not complete all of them.
but did most, all good & some blew me away :)
Also that fact they will burn but not explode if a laser touch them in the blinking funnel was unexpected and really awesome to see :p
PS : You probably noticed that blinking funnel can contain gel flow... I tried to build a map around this mechanism once, but for some reason that messed up the "flow counter", ending with gel tubes producing no gel at all after a few uses X)
portal 2 rufused to load maps today.
it also said to check my steam connection.
so I checked for steam client updates.
which were available. I then updated it.
then checked integrity of portal 2.
1 file missing, it restored it.
it works again now.
though it had said that it would automaticaly update.
manual update speeded it up.
so I backed portal 2 up to an external harddrive, for insurance.
while I was at it.
thankyou for your feedback.
their are 2 video's.
the 1st video is refusing to play unless I copy & paste in the address bar & press enter.
it is the 1 where we set a turret on fire, then bring it back to full health.
did you see that 1 ?
