Does this work on 1.6?
time lapses 6 Jul @ 8:52pm
Could you please update to the 1.6 beta version?
Karn Liberated 22 Mar @ 5:01pm
Hello! Curious to know if there is a 1.0 compatible version of this mod?
[RTB] Sarianos 28 Feb @ 11:34pm
@Uuugggg Probably a bit of an odd suggestion here, but would it not make sense to merge this mod with your other caravan specific mods Smart Medicine , Build From Inventory & Use Bedrolls into a general caravan utilities mod?
Ġedryht of Wōden 4 Jan @ 5:55am
Despite the issues I'll give this mod a shot. If they chase tamers across the map, desperate to find food, idk why I'd be wasting food on taming animals to begin with. You can just draft the colonist and drop the food in their inventory.
Blacksoul 6 Aug, 2024 @ 3:36pm
After a bunch of testing and searching, it appears your mod is partially involved in the issue, although not in the way we think.

Apparently, in one of the latest rimworld update, the pawn food choice algorithm was modified, and TLDR regular pawns won't eat raw food until "ravenously" hungry (to avoid mood debuffs). More info here: https://www.reddit.com/r/RimWorld/comments/18lrltb/psa_pawn_food_choices_are_not_what_they_used_to_be/

So pawns not being able to eat raw food from the storage regularly is normal. However, that process is bypassed when the raw food is in the inventory (due to some mod, or vanilla?) and can start eating it as soon as they're hungry, hence why they keep on following the tamers (or haulers). Without this mod, if they don't have it in their inventory, they continue on their day until they become ravenously hungry and start looking for raw food.
Blacksoul 5 Aug, 2024 @ 12:27pm
An issue (similar to the tamer's below) is that when a pawn has in its inventory the best food available (berries for instance) and only raw (fungus) food is available, my pawns will track and harass him until they get hold of it. That's a tough problem to solve.
ThottyNathaniel 28 Mar, 2024 @ 9:40am
this is reeeally good, but need to make so that people currently taming arent able to be gradded from.

I had a colonist taming, and people following him outside.
Flamangos 11 Mar, 2024 @ 7:12pm
Doesn't seem to have any effect on vehicles
IamWatro 7 Mar, 2024 @ 10:07pm
Does anyone have confirmation that this works with VE: Vehicles or Rimthunder?
vin 19 Feb, 2024 @ 12:54am
I wonder how this works with the new vehicles mod.
Bene El 28 Nov, 2023 @ 2:27pm
Turning it of made the tribe run a lot better, which is a shame, as I find the mod useful. My guess is an issue with raw food.
Uuugggg  [author] 28 Nov, 2023 @ 2:24pm
I would not blame this mod for that
Bene El 28 Nov, 2023 @ 2:23pm
Well, if they can't find the food they are standing on, that is an issue, is it not? If no one is carrying food (aka taming an animal) there is no issue, they take food from the storage just fine. But as soon as one pawn goes to tame he's followed by a lemming train...
Uuugggg  [author] 28 Nov, 2023 @ 8:11am
I dunno how you people keep getting that sort of thing, this mod literally only kicks in when they couldn't find food
Bene El 28 Nov, 2023 @ 3:52am
I've the issue that pawns chase animal tamers all over the map (my pawns only get raw food). They even run over to the tamer while food is sitting right next to them.
Daemon Trooper 15 Oct, 2023 @ 5:09am
Ok, going to check again for conflicts, thanks for answering.
Uuugggg  [author] 14 Oct, 2023 @ 3:26pm
Not gonna do anything~

They only use Meals on Wheels for food if nothing else is available, so you should have food available elsewhere so this doesn't happen
Daemon Trooper 14 Oct, 2023 @ 3:14pm
What do you mean, not enough proof, to singular problem ? I'm not understanding your answer ^^
Uuugggg  [author] 14 Oct, 2023 @ 2:00pm
That'd be a good thing

Given the mod has lived 5 years without anyone noticing though, nah.
Daemon Trooper 14 Oct, 2023 @ 1:43pm
Is it possible to make an exception for when caravans are packing ? Or an option for that ?

I'm arriving at 50 pawns, and sometimes I have to pack an army to attack some places, and as it's longer for them to pack what's required for such a number, they may have to eat during the process, and if someone dares to eat from the caravan supplies, sometimes (not every time) all the supplies in the pawn/mech or animal's inventory where they nourished themselves from is no longer considered supplies, gets all unloaded and have to be loaded back.

It's been two days they're packing. I had to stop it all, let them recover from it, and then pack 6 diferent caravans that I merged afterwards.
SpawnMoreOverlords 28 Aug, 2023 @ 7:08pm
Oddly enough my pawns will now eat berries but absolutely REFUSE to eat pemmican. I suspect it's the pemmican mod though.
Komyeta 9 Aug, 2023 @ 2:48pm
Yay!
Uuugggg  [author] 9 Aug, 2023 @ 11:04am
Dude they'll already grab food from vehicles.
Uuugggg  [author] 9 Aug, 2023 @ 10:49am
Oh. 1.3 added food from animals. Some update after 1.4 is where this mod broke though.
Uuugggg  [author] 9 Aug, 2023 @ 10:38am
neat.
Komyeta 9 Aug, 2023 @ 9:48am
Huh... I did notice something seemed broken, but it was so inconcequential that It didnt occur to meit was this mod lol

Hi Uuugggg! Will you make a patch so that pawns can also search for food from wihin vehicles? Since the vehicle framework mod makes it possible for vehicles to carry things, perhaps pawns could look into their cargo on their own for something to eat.
Uuugggg  [author] 8 Aug, 2023 @ 10:58pm
1.4 added food from animals

This adds food from other people.

Which, on caravan, who knows who’s got the food, you need to get it wherever it is
Luv N Hugz |UwU| 8 Aug, 2023 @ 8:40pm
I had no idea the mod didn't even work? I must be stupid..
Peryn [Андрій] 11 Apr, 2023 @ 11:41am
This is a problem with the fact that some repositories do not display the contents of what is stored in them. Appeared in 1.4. Therefore, there is a problem with finding food. Perhaps it will be solved by patches from either developers or mods.
ReneeEclipse 8 Dec, 2022 @ 7:10pm
I'm getting a yellow error for this and a couple of other food-related mods, obsolete method or somesuch. Dunno if it's an actual problem, a future problem, or a Steam not updating stuff problem, but here's a log containing the error in case it actually IS a problem: https://gist.github.com/448a6411ec5f35a8bb875d5462821a42
Uuugggg  [author] 4 Dec, 2022 @ 2:02pm
Something's wrong with your modlists since this mod only looks for food on animals if no other food is available
Lucke Véga 4 Dec, 2022 @ 1:58pm
Im gonna disable this mod, is impossible to form caravans, the corn on the elephan acros to map is juicier then the cabbage on the freezer next door.
Catch Lightning 27 Nov, 2022 @ 10:48pm
My colonists don't seem to recognize other colonists on caravan have the survival meals? I have to make the person with them manually drop it.
Uuugggg  [author] 21 Nov, 2022 @ 1:11pm
stable release today is probably good now?
Ygdrad 17 Nov, 2022 @ 8:56am
Ran into the same issue as Psyche.
Psyche 15 Nov, 2022 @ 3:05am
Hey man, I am getting errors from this mod on the unstable branch. I think Ludeon changed the name or parameters for one of the methods you patch, and Harmony is throwing a tantrum.
Crimson 6 Nov, 2022 @ 1:19am
Sooo.. Are people still having "food priority" problems with this mod?
HeartPirate 1 Nov, 2022 @ 5:34am
oh thx for update :) ..sometimes i thinks these mods are base game hahah keep up the good work and dont burn out....o= if you do.. play some horse shoe
Harry_Robinson1 18 Oct, 2022 @ 7:46am
Maybe it's a conflict with some other mod then, all I know was removing this fixed it for me. It only started happening recently though so it could be something got updated and broke.
Uuugggg  [author] 17 Oct, 2022 @ 10:32am
Honestly guys, the code here only runs if no food was found, so these reports of getting food from other people when food is available makes no sense
Fido 14 Aug, 2022 @ 1:41pm
Can confirm with Harry_Robinson1 that colonists will always steal food from each other, any food, no matter how low the quality. Even if they're currently training an animal with kibble, they'll take all the kibble, eat it, and be in a shitty mood from eating kibble.
Harry_Robinson1 22 Jul, 2022 @ 8:03am
@UdderlyEvelyn I'm having the same issue, my colonists seem to choose the closest colonist to get food to save time (even if it's lower quality than the lavish meals in the freezer) and then end up wasting an entire day futilely chasing another colonist. It's even worse when a slow colonist with a peg leg chases my luci-taking builder with twin bionics, they end on a wild goose chase that only ends when they're forced to sleep by my schedule, even if they start starving and end up getting taken through the freezer twice while trying to follow. I'm gonna uninstall the mod to see if it helps, but i admit I have a lot of mods and my game lags a lot so it might not be this mod at fault in particular.
Uuugggg  [author] 27 Dec, 2021 @ 10:24am
I'm thinking vanilla added some food-getting protocols that allows animals to get food form other animals
Nowei 27 Dec, 2021 @ 9:12am
so there seems to be a problem with caravans where muffalo try to get food from the other animals and this causes a error loop
UdderlyEvelyn 3 Nov, 2021 @ 7:29pm
For some reason in my last playthrough, in which I used this, I had people chasing each other down for bits of raw ingredient like corn and milk when there was a whole freezer full of the stuff. They'd go all the way out to an area I was mining to steal corn from someone instead of the much nearer freezer. I'm thinking perhaps they targeted them when they were close and convenient? Not sure why they'd yoink from someone else when food was available in storage at all, though.
MAXIMUS, Lucius Valerius 24 Oct, 2021 @ 11:11pm
Resubscribing fixed the issue. Thanks for quick update!
Uuugggg  [author] 24 Oct, 2021 @ 4:08pm
Well it seems you are not up to date on this mod's update today
MAXIMUS, Lucius Valerius 24 Oct, 2021 @ 3:34pm
Hi, today's "glorious" update made TryFindBestFoodSource obsolete and HugsLib detects this mod patches the method. Should I expect some problems on caravans?
Uuugggg  [author] 24 Oct, 2021 @ 9:55am
Well. For some reason the game made it specifically animals, not fellow colonists.

I don't think the game filters exactly which item goes on which pawn, So you can easily end up in a situation where Bob has all the food on a caravan. So yea, this stays
