Apparently, in one of the latest rimworld update, the pawn food choice algorithm was modified, and TLDR regular pawns won't eat raw food until "ravenously" hungry (to avoid mood debuffs). More info here: https://www.reddit.com/r/RimWorld/comments/18lrltb/psa_pawn_food_choices_are_not_what_they_used_to_be/
So pawns not being able to eat raw food from the storage regularly is normal. However, that process is bypassed when the raw food is in the inventory (due to some mod, or vanilla?) and can start eating it as soon as they're hungry, hence why they keep on following the tamers (or haulers). Without this mod, if they don't have it in their inventory, they continue on their day until they become ravenously hungry and start looking for raw food.
I had a colonist taming, and people following him outside.
They only use Meals on Wheels for food if nothing else is available, so you should have food available elsewhere so this doesn't happen
Given the mod has lived 5 years without anyone noticing though, nah.
I'm arriving at 50 pawns, and sometimes I have to pack an army to attack some places, and as it's longer for them to pack what's required for such a number, they may have to eat during the process, and if someone dares to eat from the caravan supplies, sometimes (not every time) all the supplies in the pawn/mech or animal's inventory where they nourished themselves from is no longer considered supplies, gets all unloaded and have to be loaded back.
It's been two days they're packing. I had to stop it all, let them recover from it, and then pack 6 diferent caravans that I merged afterwards.
Hi Uuugggg! Will you make a patch so that pawns can also search for food from wihin vehicles? Since the vehicle framework mod makes it possible for vehicles to carry things, perhaps pawns could look into their cargo on their own for something to eat.
This adds food from other people.
Which, on caravan, who knows who’s got the food, you need to get it wherever it is
I don't think the game filters exactly which item goes on which pawn, So you can easily end up in a situation where Bob has all the food on a caravan. So yea, this stays
