Thank you for your service! This mod was a godsend when it first came out, and it was such a good idea that pdx had to implement its own version.

Not at all, the new system MTG hardly does that. For example you choose historical UK without historical focuses. UK can choose decolonization. In your mod you could set it for each path.

Updates for the mod kind of fell by the wayside lately. The new system in MtG does a lot of what the mod already did, and because I want to integrate it into the existing game rules (rather than the event driven stuff it is now) that requires a complete overhaul, which has been kind of putting me off it.

I do want to update it though, I think at this point I'll wait until the free 1.7 update (which is coming soon, apparently) and then I'll work on the new, revamped version.

The new gameplay rules are great and all, but this mod was definitely better at forcing the AI to go down specific routes in their focus trees.

I did reweight a few focuses to make sure the AI didn't get stuck doing pointless stuff, but there are a few that probably are still weighted too low. I'm not going to bother changing things now with MtG so close but I am aware that there are a couple issues like that one.

Hmm true. I reread the Dev Diary and as you say they are missing a couple more in depth options. Glad you are continuing work :)

Also i played as Aus-Hun yesterday with Germany forced down the central powers line. But it never did the Naval focus (required for the "Focus on the True Enemy" focus). I don't know whether this is a bug or if it's just because the games AI doesn't prioritise that focus.

Do you know what could be the course?

I'm not sure it's necessarily obsolete.

True, Paradox has implemented a lot of functionality, but I don't think their system has the depth the mod offers. For example, in the dev diary they show options for forcing Germany to restore the Kaiser or go Democratic. However, there are further options on the Kaiser path, namely whether Germany joins the Allies or reforms the Central Powers. That didn't seem to be an option coming to the base game.

I'll take a look at what Man the Guns offers when it's out, but I will want to find some way to keep all the options available, even if they're not there in the update. Hopefully (and I do expect) the new system will be moddable, and I can simply add some extra strategy plans to that (and do away with the whole event system I have currently).

So expect maybe a bit of a delay while I overhaul everything, but I do expect I'll be keeping this updated post-MtG

Is there a way that you can edit how the Canadian A.I acts when it goes down the "Alliance with America" focus line? Instead of saving up pp so it can gain independence, the A.I keeps spending it on cabinet members and heads of military, so it gets dragged into whatever war eventually crops up and neevr becomes free.

I completely forgot about the German translation lol, thanks for the update!

for the USSR, the focus tree is kind of sparse and the only real alternate history option they have (bringing Trotsky back) is tied up in a bunch of events. I'd need to set that up differently from how every other decision is done, and I don't really think it's worth it just for that one event chain. Especially when Paradox has already said they plan on redoing the Soviet tree anyway.

No plans for updating to work with other mods. Things like Kaiserreich are so event driven that it would be a hell of a lot of work to even do one country.

I don't speak German (or anything other than English), so I wouldn't be able to offer any translations beyond bunging it into google translate and using what it spits out, which I don't think would be particularly good for anyone. So unless anyone else wants to offer to translate the localisation file, it'll be English only.

I don't use any mods that change focus trees but I am using cosmetic mods like Hearts of Anime and REWORKED along with Player Led Peace Conferences. It doesn't seem like there's anything that'd horribly mess things up

I get occasional reports of the mod just "not working" but I've never been able to replicate it so I'm not really sure how to fix it.

Are you using any other mods? this should work with anything that doesn't change the focus trees but there are possibly other conflicts I might not have noticed.

If the mod doesn't work by itself, could you try saving the game immediately after going through the AHT events, but before unpausing, then check that it's still not working, and if so upload that initial save somewhere and post it here so I can have a look at it? Ideally could you turn off save compression so the save file is actually readable and I can check in there that all the global tags etc have popped properly.

I don't know why, historical focuses are turned off, but Germany ignores me when I tell them in the toggle to go against Hitler and always choose the Rhineland option. I don't know why they're doing so though. Everyone else is following their paths I set them on

German Appeasement leads to Czechoslovakia becoming a German puppet, so I didn't think it made much sense to do that if you were telling Czechs to go communist/democratic. If you select for them to go fascist the option should be there

Finally, people asking for versions for other mods: Kaiserreich does most things through a nightmarish web of event chains, and I honestly don't have the patience to try to unravel those right now so definitely won't be making a version for KR any time soon. Road to 56, I don't personally play so I've no inclination to make that version. If others want to make any of those mods, feel free to build on any of my stuff (either replicate the systems, or literally reuse some of and change some of my files if you want), just please give me a passing credit in your mod description if you do take anything from this mod. I'm also happy to explain in more depth how the mod actually works, and how I've set things up, if anyone wants to know for their own work.

But if you've been paying attention to the dev diaries you've probably seen the next expansion (Man the Guns) is adding a system similar to what this mod already does. I don't think it'll replicate the full depth of the mod so I expect I'll keep this going, but I want to hold off on major changes until the expansion is out so I can get to grips with what the base game can now handle, so I can best figure out how to update the mod going forward.

I'll still do bugfixes (haven't tested every path I added, so there might be bugs there) if needs be, or if any minor patches miraculously come out between now and MtG I'll update for compatibility, but probably no new additions until then.

And, updated! Added options for all the Chinese powers (sans the warlords) and tweaked a couple minor things.

This has me covered pretty much all the unique focus trees with interesting paths to date. I could do the Chinese warlords, but that would be quite fiddly due to them sharing a focus tree and I'm not sure how much interesting gameplay you could really get out of that. So that's something I could add but I'm in no rush.

The other thing I've seen people ask for is options for the USSR (eg bringing Trotsky back). This one's a bit trickier as it goes through events, but it can be done I believe and I will probably add that at some point.
