2. Getting used to it may slightly ruin your thoughts when going back to vanilla. Since the game a has very specific feel, it feels best to getting used to the vanilla games because that's also how almost every other mod and map also uses in mind (depending on).
While it is quite fun and nice to see the increased power and firing speed stuff on all the weapons and whatnot, the problem then because when you do eventually go back to vanilla, the "slower pacing" may feel of to you since you became so used to the faster pacing that depending on, you may not want to play Serious Sam without the rpg mod.
Though on the other hand it might a divisive topic in it self.
This game-mode is quite nice and It has been fun to play through the first encounter and around half of the second encounter with it.
There is 2 major reasons I would not recommend to play this.
1. There is a bug that occurs when loading a save and a quick-save that makes the entire rpg thing to not be active at all. I did find that sometimes loading an older save file in the same play-trough would reactivate it but that of course comes at the cost of redoing sections which you already did just a few minutes ago and would preferably not go through again so it's a big annoyance.
Again to explain my problem, sometimes after I load a quicksave, the info on the lower left would be gone, and I noticed that whenever I quicksaved in this state, it would crash the game. I noticed it as it kept happening throughout the video I recorded, which, if you need it, I could post the link when I upload that video so you get an idea of what happens.
Regarding the second issue, could you see if there are errors in console after you load a save and the text is not there? If so, please post a screen or, better yet, a log file - the instruction is in the description.
- Improved visibility check on enemies so that now both Affixes and Iron Maiden spikes are better visible when peeking around corner in 3rd person;
- Added a "start" period of 1 second to Iron Maiden - during this period, the damage is not reflected and the visual spike grows from nothing and is slightly tinted blue. When the spike reaches max size and becomes silver, the damage reflection turns on.
Did the mod properly "send" you from the 9th level to the DLC?
Pretty sure most weapons have some basic upgrades available at low levels.
Start a new game with the "Serious RPG" gamemode.
Use "Open upgrade menu" key (binded in settings, U key by default) to access upgrade menu.
Kill monsters to get experience and new levels to get points for ability/weapon upgrades.
Press "Crouch" key while in main page of upgrade menu to access "extra" settings.
Hope this helps.
