Thanks. Though this is only the beta version that stays to allow people to finish games or switch whenever they want to rather than being forced into the major update. The release version is now live: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1353784316

Thanks for the work you've put into this; it definitely changes the way that the game 'feels'.
Gratak  [author] 6 Apr, 2018 @ 4:17am
Release version is now out. See link at top of description.

@Joker: I could add this as an option. I don't want it be removed by default as you can still check the difficulties in the event menu after you lock it.
Joker 6 Apr, 2018 @ 1:33am
Nice mod! I was thinking in your update, it would be cool if once you lock the settings, the edict menu option disappears to so it's not just sitting there all game. Similar to how More Events Mod situation log menu disappears once you send it away.
Gratak  [author] 4 Apr, 2018 @ 3:10pm
Actually have no idea how to do changing modifiers of a particular empire with a decent interface. And even if I had one, it is fundamentally incompatible with the way my events work. I can do "change modifier for everybody" I guess. Unlikely that I find the time to add it to the release, but that can be added later without complications (it's "just" one extra event chain, no modifier changes).
Sjru 🐲 4 Apr, 2018 @ 2:05pm
Any change to change the modifiers of a particular empire?
Also to change modifiers of everyone? (Say I want to globally cull weapon damage by -50% so battles last longer)
korweb 3 Apr, 2018 @ 10:57am
ok thanks for your time i like the mod a lot!
Gratak  [author] 3 Apr, 2018 @ 10:38am
The question marks should only appear if you were beyond the modifier range of the reduced one. The Delay mod should reduce the yearly lag. Either way, I will soon release the final version of my mod that has a much better performance without the disadvantage of the lag mods. Currently in final bug-testing.
korweb 3 Apr, 2018 @ 9:30am
it takes away my buffs and adds ?s i have tryed both of the lag mods the Dynamic Difficulty - Delay Sub-Mod just dose nothing
Gratak  [author] 2 Apr, 2018 @ 11:40pm
@kor: You have yearly auto-save I guess? What do you mean with glitches on the lag helping mod?
aZmoDen 2 Apr, 2018 @ 7:44pm
Hey i just want to say great work on this mod. The UI and the method you chose make it such an easy to use mod despite its versatility.
Very well done.
korweb 2 Apr, 2018 @ 2:58pm
when ever it auto saves my game lags and stellaris dose not respond i tryed the lag helping mod but it just glitches any help?
Gratak  [author] 2 Apr, 2018 @ 10:27am
Yes. Vanilla is able to use those values for scaling. The NPC ones are used with a scaling for crises. But I do not see how that helps. Still impossible to really customize, as for example start with a non-zero value when using scaling.
BigDragon 2 Apr, 2018 @ 10:13am
It seems like if I change the values in 00_static_modifiers of original game file, the scaling difficulty bonus change accordingly, for example, I changed the values to 1 from 0.5, and by year 2350, AIs are getting 75%.
rudkin852 1 Apr, 2018 @ 5:12am
I found out the problem with the text, it has nothing to do with your mod.It was the automatic upgrade to 2.0.2 without me noticing and at the same time as installing your mod.So there is some small problem with 2.0.2.I dont have the Apocalypse DLC that may be why some of the text is missing. The first message I see on starting a new game at the top of the map screen is a piracy icon with "alert_high_piracy_risk_title"nothing happens when I click on it.I expect they will solve these problems in time.
Gratak  [author] 1 Apr, 2018 @ 2:36am
Thanks ;)
falhxer 1 Apr, 2018 @ 2:35am
I subscribed to your mod despite thinking "Meh, i dont think ill use it", but for 1 thing is really uselful i discovered today, like naval capacity, is total bull****, its not challenging or anything just feels unfair, a little small empire have twice your fleet despite your are ten times bigger, im not against giving ai more resources its okay for me, i used always play on the latest difficulty but this always bugged me out, and also the research, but the biggest **** is the naval capacity and thanks to your mod i can remedy this. Great mod and great job, only now i understand how great is this mod.
Gratak  [author] 31 Mar, 2018 @ 3:43pm
Every single one of my localization names should have a "custom_difficulty" to avoid any collision with vanilla or foreign mod stuff. I do not change anything in vanilla except removing the difficulty modifiers. Nevertheless, I can check your problem if you tell me details. The change from "normal" to "ensign" has been done by Paradox, not me.
rudkin852 31 Mar, 2018 @ 2:56pm
When I use your mod the text goes missing in parts of the game such as parts of Traditions and some messages.I take off your mod and it works fine again but in the setup screen, that has permanently changed from Normal Difficulty to ensign difficulty.
Gratak  [author] 31 Mar, 2018 @ 12:06am
Yes. I am aware of this and am going to strongly improve it in in the final version. There are already two submods to reduce/remove this lag, see description.
cactuspete13 30 Mar, 2018 @ 8:21pm
I am noticing that at the beginning of each year, there is a 10-15 second pause in the game where nothing responds. No CTD but can get annoying. Tested by disabling this mod and the stutter goes away
Gratak  [author] 30 Mar, 2018 @ 6:35am
@BigDragon. Yes. That was exactly my first aim when doing the mod. In the current version, you can activate the starting difficulty via choosing Commodore difficulty (either at game start or in the mod event interface) and then change "AI yearly" bonuses. Vanilla Scaling would be increase in "vanilla default bonuses" every 4 years. In the release version, it will be easier as you can then directly combine the "scaling" difficulty with any other difficulty.
danielmadryga 29 Mar, 2018 @ 11:19pm
Thanks for adding the "ai bonus for player vassals" option, Gratak.
BigDragon 29 Mar, 2018 @ 8:00pm
I find the scaling difficulty in game a good idea, but I also find 50% at endgame year too low. It's not impossible for me to win AI with them having 50% in beginning, so endgame 50% doesn't add real challenge. I am looking for a way to have the endgame AI boost at 75% or 100% (admiral or grand admiral level). Do you know how I can do this? If I change the static modifier file, will that work? Does your mod do something like this?
AshWolf1312 29 Mar, 2018 @ 2:55pm
Thanks, also great mod!
Gratak  [author] 29 Mar, 2018 @ 2:32pm
No problem. Happy I could help.
AshWolf1312 29 Mar, 2018 @ 2:30pm
Ok it has stopped reporting an altered checksum, and nevermind about the difficulty thing i was being retarded
AshWolf1312 29 Mar, 2018 @ 2:22pm
well i disabled all mods to test it and it still had the mod's difficulty options when sreating a new game
Gratak  [author] 29 Mar, 2018 @ 1:57pm
What do you mean by altering the difficulty? I cannot imagine how this should happen. The checksum and vanilla difficulty system changed today due to the new patch. You are sure that this isn't the reason?
AshWolf1312 29 Mar, 2018 @ 12:52pm
Installing this mod has permenately altered the game checksum and difficulty, even after unsubscribing from the mod the problem still persists, any idea how to fix it?
Gratak  [author] 29 Mar, 2018 @ 5:47am
Short update on my progress/plans:
- Adding the options "simple mode" (only bonus groups rather than the huge list of single bonuses. Should also improve performance) , "delay" (as in the submod, now an option) and "ai bonus for player vassals"
- Improving performance by only doing necessary updates (adding flags for when specific things actually change)
- Making Default Difficulties clearer. Making it possible to combine Ensign to Grand Admiral with Scaling.
- Separating Crisis strength and allowing much larger %-steps here, as bonus values for crisis are crazy high in vanilla already
- probably more I forgot now

Since the changes are pretty major, I am not going to update this version with them but rather add a new mod once I'm finished. I am going to add a "remove modifier" event option to this mod to allow you a clean change on your time and with save-backup (I'm not expecting any big problems with the change but better save than sorry).
danielmadryga 27 Mar, 2018 @ 7:58pm
That would be a pretty cool option, though I don't know how many besides myself might use it. It could make holding together a feudal empire quite difficult.
Gratak  [author] 27 Mar, 2018 @ 10:35am
Yes. Currently working on that.
8FPSBOSSFIGHT 27 Mar, 2018 @ 8:30am
Can you make the mini version of this mod? Like less complex settings and tweaking
Gratak  [author] 27 Mar, 2018 @ 6:24am
Until yesterday, the vanilla 2.0.2 beta scaling was broken. Starting at +50% bonuses and reducing to 0%.
John8388 27 Mar, 2018 @ 6:03am
This is a fantastic option to have. But from the description of it you seem to make a comment about current 2.0.2 beta "Scaling" difficulty. Is the current beta scaling difficulty reducing AI bonuses over time? or is it scaling up to only very values? I do find that with scaling difficulty in beta by mid-late game everyone is either inferior or pathetic in comparison to me and game becomes far too easy.
Gratak  [author] 26 Mar, 2018 @ 11:39pm
@danielmadryga: Can add this as an option. I went with the way vanilla works (that is actually an extra check). Player vassal do get the same bonuses player gets (i.e. none in vanilla)

@LastQuinsyMZFK: Thanks ;)

@xmus: I see no reason why not. The "Leviathans and other NPCs" category goes for anything that is not in the other ones, so whatever non standard tags they add (like new critters or other leviathans) would still get those bonuses.
djpaulycee 26 Mar, 2018 @ 5:35pm
does this work with star trek new horizons?
LastQuinsyMZFK 26 Mar, 2018 @ 5:13pm
100% of the AI bonus in the vanilla version is an inadequate hardcore, and most companies against AI after a limited turning point (if it manages to survive *)) the game becomes obviously dominated at one end.
This mod for me - manna from heaven. A low bow for your work ^. ^
p.s. I wish you long days and pleasant nights, sei. *)
danielmadryga 26 Mar, 2018 @ 4:17pm
Random question: Is there any way to make the bonuses apply even to Player vassals and protectorates? While this could potentially be quite exploitable, I hate how vassalizing an empire on higher difficulty levels effectively nerfs them harshly.
Gratak  [author] 26 Mar, 2018 @ 1:55am
Short update on the crisis: I'm currently figuring out how to read crisis strength and assign according values. For you to fix it yourself until I have a fix: "Max difficulty, x5 crisis" has a strength bonus of about 1000%. You can set that (or something lower of course) yourself in the "Leviathans and other NPCs" menu when the crisis spawns (or before. just not at game start as that would also make marauders, leviathans and other stuff that strong.)
Gratak  [author] 25 Mar, 2018 @ 2:39pm
I will have a look at the crisis stuff asap. You can give them extra strength via "leviathans and other NPCs". At that point, no other NPC exist anymore anymway.
Gratak  [author] 25 Mar, 2018 @ 2:38pm
I hope the lag can be removed via the submods (see description, just added a point under important). If that isn't enough, I will create a reduced version where modifiers are merged. That would strongly reduce the length of the update event (but reduce choice).

Scaling just adds 1% every n (default 4) years. But you can activate scaling AND directly set some bonuses.
Phil 25 Mar, 2018 @ 7:07am
Hi - what happens if I install this mid game and activate scaling? Does the year I turn it on count as year 0 and then scales up to 50% from there? I didn't know the default scaling was broken and now everyything is too easy :Z
