I like the uniqueness but seems super op. The fact that you could get +1 culture and production on round 1 just by settling next to a forest is waaay too strong.

Also unlike you suggest I don't think this is a defensive civ, considering that you should easily be able to hold cities that you conquer on your own continent, not to mentiong the 3/4/5 bonus combat strength.

I also don't really understand why the sissi unit would replace the melee unit AND have a ranged attack. Just have it replace a recon unit, since the sissis of real life are mostly for reconnaissance. This way the ranged attack also makes sense, since recon units after the scout already have one.

Although I really like the uniqueness of using loyalty for boosting yields and appeal for boosting combat strength I think the numbers should be toned down quite a bit.

@Attackarack I'm no coder, but \steamapps\workshop\content\289070\1346055198\Core\Finland_GamesDefines.sql has some lines like this:

('MODIFIER_MER_OUR_HOMES_OUR_FAITH_OUR_COUNTRY_CHARMING_STRENGTH','Amount',4)

If I'm reading this right, this and the similar lines above and below it with the AVERAGE and BREATHTAKING labels should be responsible for the strength bonus values.
Simply replace the numbers in the CHARMING and BREATHTAKING with 1, and it should result in 3+1+1 for the strength bonus.
Could also go with 1+2+2 if you want it to be more strict with requiring higher appeal.

This mod is super cool! However, the unique ability of +3/4/5 combat strength in average/charming/breathtaking tiles is bugged and very OP - they are stacking rather than applying the highest value.

Could anyone suggest a way to modify "Finland_GameDefines.sql" so that only the highest combat strength bonus applies (for example, +5 total bonus CS in breathtaking tiles, rather than 3+4+5 = 12 bonus CS in breathtaking tiles)?

Considering the bug @=FDS= erskaperska mentioned:
In file 'Finland_GameDefines.sql' line 230 and 232 change 'MODIFIER_PLAYER_CITIES_ADJUST_CITY_YIELD_MODIFIER' to 'MODIFIER_SINGLE_CITY_ADJUST_CITY_YIELD_MODIFIER'. That should do the trick.:steamthumbsup:

Just a small detail I noticed when first loading. In the intro text you refer to Mannerheim as Carl, which was his first name. But in those days it was common to give fathers name (or etc) as the first name. His brothers were also Karls. His "actual" first name was his second name Gustav. So it should be Gustav Mannerheim

Fun mod but the compounding culture glitch mentioned below makes it super overpowered. I got to future civic by like year 900 when my techs were still getting musketmen and coursers and stuff

I found the bonuses quite exaggerated. It could be better balanced to make it more attractive for continuous use in the game. 10% of production and culture is a lot. 3% would be a balanced value.

I think there might be bug in culture and production bonus. If you have 4 cities bonus is 40% and if you have 31 cities bonus will be 310% bonus to culture and production in each city.

I'm pretty sure that's it: You have to go to the advanced settings when creating the game and check the box for civilizations without tsl to appear in a random location. I had the same problem with Joan. But you will appear anywhere because this mod doesn't have a tsl for YnAMP (or it doesn't work anymore).

I have the same problem. When I play Finland on yet another map pack I just spawn in the middle of fog of war without my units in sight. I hope there would be a fix to this, really like the mod :)

It appears that there is a problem with this mod and custom maps for example the maps from Yet another map pack where when loading is finished you dont actually spawn but there is just a big pile of fog of war. Is there a possible fix or just wait for updates?

Mod ID has changed so I could not load my save game anymore. Changing the mod id back to the old one seems to fix it. If anyone else has this issue you can change the Mod ID to <Mod id="d6f1b154-6ff6-43a0-9b77-c5b89afea829" version="1"> in Merrick's Finland (Mannerheim).modinfo and then you can load save game.

Finland has been updated to nerf the powerful combat bonuses from Mannerheim's ability. Previously +3, +5, +7, it now scales as +3, +4, +5.

I've also fixed issues with the text, and issues with the sauna not providing amenities.

Finally, i've added compatibility with Leugi's City Style pack so that they have his unique scandinavian city style.

Regarding the sauna amenity bug, there may now be a (partial) solution

1. Go to the mod folder -> Core and open the Finland_uniques xml with a text editor like notepad++
2. Scroll down until you see <ModifierType>MMODIFIER (etc.) and remove the extra M (so it becomes MODIFIER)
3. Save and exit

This seems to have activated the Sauna's amenity bonus. Unfortunately this is a partial fix as mentioned, the reason being that the amenity bonus will apply whether or not you build a sauna next to a river or lake, and amenity is added for every single sauna you build within a city's territory (so 2 saunas give 2 amenity and so on). I'm not experienced enough to try and mess around with the files in order to change that, but if a flat +1 amenity doesn't bother you try this out. Hope it helps

+1, just came here to say sauna amenity bonus doesn't work. My cities only have amenities from luxes despite having saunas on lakes.

Also, it seems like the wood bonus in early game can be OP, on TSL Europe or just a lucky map there'd be dozen 2-food, 2-hammer, 1 culture tiles per city.

@BOBSON DUGN'T The unique improvement is not broken. As far as I know it works exactly as stated and it should remove production on woods tiles as it counts as an improvement. Finland's ability allows UNIMPROVED woods to have +1 production and +1 culture. Build sauna on it and its no longer unimproved. I think it gives a unique play-style to Finland. As of 2020 I am still enjoying this mod.

I really like this mod for the culture victory potential but the Sauna improvement doesn't stack yields correctly and removes production from woods tiles.

The mod has been partly broken ever since converting into Gathering Storm. The naming of places is done very poorly and the Sauna does not give its bonuses correctly, the grammar in diplomatic texts and leader agenda has always been bad. Since Merrick has been neglectful in maintaining this mod, I can't help but to hope for a better one to be published or this one to be fixed eventually (since my minor modding experience is not enough to do it myself).

Sauna may replace zoo better, to be a building not an improvement.
