Excuse me in my bad English
Also, 'vali is yes.
Possibly make a pair where it turns white?
Not to be rude, but its spelled Hylotl.
I really appreciate the praise, and I am very thankful for the people who enjoy my mod, well as the starbound modding community in general! You've all been very kind and patient for this being my first foray into Starbound modding, as well as JSON and Lua coding too, and for that, I'm crazy thankful.
I've also developed a functional workaround too, that ideally should cause the contacts to glow when worn by a Novakid, even when worn in the cosmetic slot! Like I said, it SHOULD work, but I'm going to be testing it out tomarrow once I get some sleep. Here's to hoping!
Even if you are not able to solve this problem, I'm SUPER thankful for your fast response! I get the feeling that the people who use your mods are important to you. That's super cool! I wish you best of luck in your search for a workaround but know that I'm already very appreciative! : )
Good news and bad news.
Bad news: Any effect or status that the contacts would cause via their .item file wouldn't matter, as it's hard-coded into the game to now allow effects and statuses when items are equipped in cosmetic slots, which the contacts are supposed to be.
Good news: I may be able to make a workaround by using a lua hook to make a quest file that looks to see if a specific item is equipped EVEN in a cosmetic slot, then if it is, cause any given effect or status until the player isn't wearing that item anymore.
More bad news: The lua hook workaround would only work if the lua hook had access to the Player Table, which none of the paths in the player.config file give access too. It seems like a deadend but I'll keep looking. The dudes on the Starbound Modding Discord are being super helpful!
I can't make any promises since I don't know what I'm doing, but I'll see what I can do.
However, I did find that Cutebound Hylotls have different eyes, though this can be remedied by combining the Hylotl top eye with both Cutebound eye types.
The way dyeing works is that each dya takes a different hex value and changes it to another, but each dye is only allowed to have 4 different hex replacements max, so heterochromic contacts would have to have only 2 colors max, which may cause problems, but I'll see what I can do.
Just don't expect Heterochromic Contacts for every single race out there, cause that'd be insane.
Buzz buzz~
