a question beside: is it possible to add a more challenging lvl? like true endless x2 or even a tripple of true endless?
And if you still want to disable the pirates, you can leave them enabled and edit the mod xml file to make them inoffensive e.g. PirateDifficultyMultiplier value around 0.1 instead of 0.4 ;-)
@mrcoolize Interesting. I'm not sure how it can be related to the mod but I'll look into it.
Without going overboard, you can always edit the mod xml file and give the AI more CP on True Endless difficulty (MaximumCommandPoints modifier, line 154). It works mid-game too.
If all goes well the mod will re-include the part of the script from Endless War that makes the AI more aggressive towards the player without always declaring war.
In the notes you say the mod can be added mid-game... how do you do this? When I activate the mod from the mods menu on the ES2 opening screen, and then try to load one of my mid-game saves, it says I need to fix my mods, and I can't load the save game unless I turn off the mod.
The mod only give the AI better buffs to keep up with the player in mid-late game, it doesn't make them smarter, that's what the recommended mods are for.
BattleMod makes the AI smarter indirectly by making few gameplay changes like the added buffs to experienced crews, and Endless War , well, makes the AI gang up on the player. There is a less extreme version of that mod in my comment below. You should check it out.
And as a bonus, I have recompiled the Endless War mod without the forced diplomacy so the AIs are not openly hostile towards you, but secretly hate you and will backstab you sooner or later. The mod can be downloaded here [drive.google.com]
It replaces True Endless Difficulty so you can install/uninstall it mid-game. Just extract the folder to "...\Steam\SteamApps\workshop\content\392110\ and overwrite. To uninstall, delete the mod folder and let Steam check the game files.
Try enabling Endless War in late game, it forces the AI to only attack the player. Also, the AI tends to perform better with Combat Balance, but the mod hasn't been updated in a while.
- First off, that "+4 Behemoth Limit" they gave to AI is just insane and will have to go
- Also, the added bonus to industry screws up dust inflation and the AI can abuse it with infinite improvements so I'm testing another way, like say up to +75% ship/building cost reduction
- And lastly, Serious difficulty will soon have the added bonuses too, as suggested
By the way this mod should work with Endless War, and any other mods for that matter, since it only changes the GameDifficulty (AI bonuses) and MinorRelation (Manpower fix) files.
Amplitude Studios released a mod example for the AI called Endless War [Amplitude Official AI Modding Example]
Is it possible for you now to make the AI better ?
I think the AI is pretty stupid from mid to late game!
Survive the early game, slowly and tediously beat everyone else up to a point where AI offers alliance and finish rest off.
Folly is still the AI's ship design and combat decision-making, otherwise it's mostly same experience as default game, just with more annoyance in the way.
