Someone told me this mod is working perfectly still (in June 2023 on Stellaris 3.8). That seems like a long time to still be working, but if there's no vanilla files modified, then I suppose it's possible.

Anybody have thoughts?

Quick question - aside for setting the AI weight to 0 on the research techs for these ships, do I need to do anything else to stop AI players from researching/using these?

Have you changed any ship stats between this one and the previous version for 2.0.x? I have personally made both this mod and your pirate ship mod NSC (and ESC) compatible and want to avoid having to redo the ship stats if I don't have to :D

Update: Some balancing and fixes and added the Fallen Empire Colossus. Will only be available to those with the Apocalypse DLC after researching both the Colossus and the Fallen Empire Titan technologies.

@aZmoDen: It's not game breaking and will have no impact on gameplay. But the ships created through this mod will be somewhat larger. For instance: the large Fallen Empire ships in Vanilla have size 0.64 while those from Downscaled Ships are 0.36. The ships from this mod will be of the Vanilla size.

balls. im runnin downscaled ships plus the compat patches with nsc and isb and one other i cant remember.
What sort of problems will i run into? is this a graphical glitch thing? or a game breaking mechanic thing?

@Therian: That should actually be easier to create than this mod was. I thought it had already been done but I don't seem to be able to find the corresponding mod. Maybe I'll create it.

First and formost: Love the mod. But I don't suppose there'd be a way to do the same with pirate faction ships? Finally being able to upgrade/ build those is something I've been looking for for a while.

@xnadu27: Except for the ship reactors, thrusters and combat computers because those are ship size specific all other components from mods will be used. Those three will require a patch.

What components do the ships use? Will they use components from other mods (e.g. Extra Ship Components)?

Couple of notes regarding last update:
- Not all changes will be applied to existing savegames. If you've already researched the technologies you won't get access to the ethics based ones. If you're currently researching one it might be invalidated and you'll have to destroy some more Fallen Empire ships.
- Switching ethics during the research process will reset the progress made. Already researched technologies will still be available and you'll not get an opportunity to research another variant of the same technology.
- I've choosen the visuals based on those chosen in the Vanilla game for each Fallen Empire. The extra ships deployed for the Fallen Empire now exactly match visually.

Updated the mod to support different ship colors for the Fallen Empire ships based on the ethics of the country. Also modified the ship sizes to exactly match those of the Fallen Empires.

Changed the used graphical culture to the boring grey ones for now. Going to test if I can implement a way to get all five different ship colors in the mod.

Alternatively, you could have weakened the buildable FE ships and then added improvements, although that would break the lore and wouldn’t make sense.

@xnadu27: If I created hull improvement tech I felt I'd have to give that technology to the Fallen Empires as well. Which would make them stronger which doesn't really fit in if you ask me. The Fallen Empires should have already developed their ships and stations to the maximum of their capabilities during the height of their existence.

Hey, actually I have to admit; Fallen Empire weaponary wise, this mod is better than my "Buildable Spaceborne Aliens" mod, my is just follow what Fallen Empire have, yours improve it.. I like it!!! =)

My suggestion is the colour of the ships and stations, either make it so that it depends on ethics, or using a universal colour, like grey / silver colour , because you are creating your own version of Fallen Empire techs

@jtbush00: I think it's possible but fairly complex. It would require more ship sizes and different ship and station unlock technologies as well as a complex script to give the technologies. The implementation needed to integrate the Fallen Empire ships and stations with the other ships conflicts with the preffered method for making your idea a reality. But it might still be possible.

I don't know if you can but you should try and get ship visuals based on ethics. For example with fallen empires xenophobes have black ships, spiritualists have gold ships, materialist have green ships, and xenophiles have the current models.

@xnadu27: I actually started out that way but ran into some issues. For instance: "Auto generated" would fall over the important part of the name in the build menus. And scrolling through a list with a lot of ships was also better with this style. Not sure how it looks in other localisations.

@jtbush00: No. The colors of the ships are based upon the choosen flag color. The graphical culture of the turrets is based on the one you've choosen at the start of the game.
