It's great to have a functional Combat mode in general, makes NS2 more feasible on small servers and lets new players get the hang of the basics before dealing with the RTS element.

I like the changes, the addition of siege units adds a nice payload-like objective.

At first I was surprised how frequently the ARCs spawned but it made sense after I saw how vulnerable they are without a serious Marine escort.

Ok so @Lucifer the issue is the map. It contains a lot of custom lua code for some water entities that can easily break the server. Ask your server operator to remove that map from rotation.

It has happened multiple times on co_core. It seems to be when the whole marine team gets wiped out at once that noone can spawn afterwards.

That is possible, yes.
Which maps don't allow marines to spawn? I haven't seen that issue before.

Can overtime be turned off by the server so that aliens win by default when the time limit is reached? This is the same behaviour as in NS1 combat and made for a better way to end the match. Also some maps have a bug where a whole team can't spawn (usually marines, haven't seen it happen to aliens) at all.

The default overtime is 25 minutes, but is configurable by the server. If you tried this on wooza's, they have overtime set to 5 minutes.

This mod is great. As others have mentioned xmenu would be fantastic. A request I have is to make overtime a server option which is disabled by default. The NS1 combat system which went to something like 20 or 25 minutes after which aliens won is a better one as you have back and forward pushes that at least let the hive/CC be healed.

Yeah xmenu was pretty cool and added a good amount of features. I can't remember if the first ns2 combat eventually got some of it or not but it would be nice to see again.

Another little fun extra i liked was being able to build structures like turrets. You could even build on mines due to a silly bug. Was a lot of fun putting turrets on the walls or getting up to high places without a jetpack.

There was also an MvM and AvA mod which I know is a bit pointless these days with the amount of first person shooters but it was a lot of fun in ns1.

If no one is going to convert the " ExtraLevels 3 (v1.3.6d)" (AKA xmenu) then may I have the honors? My time in NS1 was primarily siege and combat. I completely adore the xmenu system. It brought out the best in people: uranium bullets, hunger, thickened skin, bloodlust, acidic vengeance, advanced ammo, staticfield, sense of ancients, etc.

The source code from NS1 is found here, and I am interesting in reading it and seeing how it worked back in the day.

Hey Nin, I was wondering is it possible to get bots to upgrade themselves and work a bit better in combat?

I think it would be quite fun if it’s not too much trouble. Also any chance you’ll add some of my maps to your server? It would nice to see, thanks! :)

Oh yeah also i now give everyone permission to make modifications and reupload ns2_co_stargate as long as it's different enough to be worthwhile and credit with a link to original is in the description.

Examples are different planet locations, mirrored sgc sides, an expanded version for standard ns2 and stuff like that.

Hey Avoca, yeah it seems they added official teleports at some point when i was still using extra entities. Then combat moved and ended development on ns2 i didn't see much point keeping the old maps listed. Now it's back i hope we see more good stuff.

I've also checked them all and everything should work well with the new combat mod.

Hopefully servers will include them in rotation soon. Thanks! :)

Hey Magneto, you should see my stargate port inside ns_cerbsiege ~~ it looks better than my co_stargate_sg1 xD. Anyways, I had same issue with co_spacefall with teleporters. I've been playing this mod today and other than xmenu and a bug and unknown balance, I could use some co_spacefall if I fixed the teleport and if its playable

As combat is back i took some time this weekend to update ns2_co_stargate and luckily it seems there's now official teleports in ns2 which i wasn't aware of so the map is fully working again. I also made sure bots work and made a few other improvements.

Would love to see this on servers again. I got a few others ill update as well soon. :)

@Gorgiesgonewild, read nins comment, he didn't delete it... must have been one of those steam mods friends, i know who they are... Also could care less about anything you posted, critical comments are what help mods, take it or leave it but eventually you'll come to realise. I also noticed that you have map enabled in combat, do you think you could disable minimap as it wasn't enabled in NS1, that's what the scan upgrade is for right? so you can have motion tracking.

Archie, your post seems to be filled with assumptions about where the mod was, where it is now, where it should be, and where you think the mod author wants to take it. Also, it was posted on May 3rd, and today is the 13th. If a previous post was deleted and it read anything like the one from 1 hour ago, I can see why.

resupply is a joke the delay is horrible, also the code that you have taken from the standalone ns2 combat game is really bad for rego, the hit-rate is just astoundingly bad, do you think you can tweak the netcode for the combat mod? it's not very accurate in comparison with classic.

Please, for all that is good, for the love of pete, for everyone... make this happen! I refuse to pay for the combat stand alone after the developers used us to test it for them, then told us it would cost money for the game mode.

NS CO is a great way to mix up the game play (i.e. playing the same 4-5 NS2 maps over and over again). Thank you, everyone involved, thank you very much!

Eh? I've previously imported co_blackmesa, co_iam_lemmings, co_spacefall and played them with the version of combat I had. Needs xmenu.
