Me: Wow this post must be old for them to think Megatons are powerful....
I am working on a fixed version, however I have several other projects I am working on right now and fixing it will be difficult. I also have a bit of PTSD from the last time I uploaded the Testoil... and with the 1.0 update right around the corner I don't want the same thing happening. So I may wait until after the update.
DUH
Why don't you give it a spin in the 0.7.9.2 version, will ya? Then come back and tell me it doesn't work. Right now you're speculating off of nothing. There is a reason why I uploaded this to the workshop; it works (worked) very well and is (was) a nice combat machine.
Also, you seem to be misunderstanding two key design elemets of the Testoil: one is that it was made to be a damage taker, and win fights by attrition. I could have spammed weapons all along the outside and made the thing have a bit more damage, but I sacreficed it for thick armor and heavy shielding. The second element that you're forgetting is that it does not just have two Battleship cannons and a cruise missile, it has a variety of other weapons (listed in the description).
Almost certainly because you are not in the tt_unstable 0.7.9.2. Any version after that will not work due to some craziness the devs have implemented in the latest unstables.
In order to load the Testoil, you must:
1. Have the TerraTech R&D DLC installed
2. Be on the TT_unstable 0.7.9.2
After you have those, the Testoil will show up in the creative gamemode when you press the "load tech" button (a downwards arrow located next to the anchor button), then move over to the steam tab at the top and all your subscribed techs will show up.
Thanks Bro.
You need to use the tt_unstable 0.7.9.2 for the Testoil to work. The recent versions have screwed around with the binding boxes of a few blocks that the turret uses to turn, which has made the turret inoperable in those versions. I hope that they will eventually fix these bugs, but until then the Testoil is only going to work in the 0.7.9.2.
Ah...
Also, about 90% of the time I charge up the Testoil using an exterior charger to get it to full power. I use the engine for in-combat power regeneration.
And which snapshot picture were you refering to? I feel it might be the third one, because it is the aftermath of that fight with the megaton spammed tech in the second picture. I got absolutely volleyed with megatons, lost all my power (as I had not loaded up my engine in this fight), and then got slammed with three more salvos before my turret finally put the beast to rest. The fact that I only lost one wheel was really astounding to me, which is why I used those pictures in the slideshow.
The Testoil's engine compartment is what keeps my shields going. When I was testing it, I had little to no difficulty with running over trees and using them for fuel. Several times I managed to get it to full power, and a few times I even managed to que up some wood in the venture silos. If you really want to supercharge your shields, get some carbrius chunks and put them in the engine.
