Hey, I just noticed you're giving all your civs a facelift! That's really great, Porkbean. Good on ya.

It's too bad you can't link these Civs to the Barbarians Evolved mod so whenever a Barbarian camp evolves into a city, it would randomly become one of these failed civs. That would make taking them back worse! (Or if a city rebelled long enough, they'd become one of these civs)

Tudo mentira!

I wish there was an alternate version of Siam (Thailand) with the late King Rama IX (Bhumibol Adulyadej) as leader. this version of Siam revolves around cultural, economic, and especially agiculture. it has ability to boosting agiculture effiency as well as given extra cultural points. well, I guess there's a lot of details in my mind, but I can't do it since I don't know how to made CIV mods.

@Ms.Kanna This one was actually suggested to me! I don't take requests per se but I am always interested to hear ideas.
TrueKringe 4 Jun, 2018 @ 3:32am
hmmm, did you take a request.
pork bean  [author] 3 Jun, 2018 @ 11:55pm
@Fnord what would you suggest? Always open to feedback

Stupidly overpowerd.
Baraldus 3 Jun, 2018 @ 5:42pm
Fair enough xD

@Baraldus "Breaker of Chains" was a holdover from an earlier draft of this civ that would have involved major bonuses from capturing other civ's workers. Like you pointed out, though, that wasn't really historical since they practiced slavery among themselves. By the time I decided to re-tune towards a focus on capoeira and battle-workers, the name had kind of stuck.

I guess you can take it as a suggestion that the leaders have broken their own chains by escaping from the Portuguese. I'm not too worried about the semantics as long as it sounds cool!

Fascinating. The story behind this rivals that of Shaka Zulu with its epicness.

The mod looks great, but there's a very small problem there: I think "breaker of chains" isn't adequate to the Civ. The Quilombos were a sort of "African" kingdoms in Brazil, but they ALSO practiced slavery, including with other runnaway slaves.

Zumbi ruled only the Quilombo of Palmares, but there were many other Quilombos, and they even fought each other some times, and enslaved each other. THey also practiced slavery against the Natives in the region, as well as against Portuguese POWs.

Other than that, the mod looks perfect from a historical point of view. But I'd the 50% chance of unit conversion in a Mocambo is a bit OP :P

@pork bean Studying brazilian history is kind of a hobby for me, so if you need some ideas for your mods, I would be happy to help. I also know a bit of programming too.

OMG yes thank you. I had found out about this nation on the Civ V Customization Wiki and when I heard the modder could no longer work on it I was disappointed. Glad to see this nation see the light of day.

@trodoon25 Thanks! I always appreciate your support, it's really nice to see regular subscribers.

@leonardoparramelati It's been really interesting to read about. Capoeira is so well-known, yet the history of the quilombos and slave revolts in general are seemingly so obscure. I'm glad to be able to contribute a South American civ, too.

@taylor Definitely! I looked at it a little before release, but I need to run a few games actually using it before I get a good feel for how it should be. I'll be adding support for Cultural Diversity pretty soon.

This is a super good civ. Will there be EnD support?
The_Unblooded 31 May, 2018 @ 5:32pm
That's a very nice mod you have did. I'm brazilian, and I'm very happy seeing an important part of our history being represented.
troodon25 29 May, 2018 @ 10:33pm
Well. This is unexpected. I'm starting to enjoy your unpredictability!
