To disable the modification, I assume you will have to unsubscribe. If you are trying to make your own terrain, copy the files before unsubscribing, and tinker away.
As you probably know, it's important to know the exact locations of cliffs due to un-passable and un-buildable properties.
however currently It's pretty difficult to tell where exactly there area of influence of cliff tiles are, even with grid enabled.
Can you modify this?
For now I made only grid versions of my classic terrain textures V2:

(there is a second one with the older static water textures)
But in case you would want to use one of my other texture packs with a grid (colored grid or black or whatever type of grid you might ant to use) - just tell me. Would be around half an hour for a simple grid to publish it. Some more time for a more fancy grid.
It would be nice if it could be combined with all the nice mods out there, but it has to be manually done for all of them. It would make more sense for those that make the graphic change adapt it, than for me to modify their work, and some have actually done so.
While this version of the game is more mod-friendly, it's not up to par with what you'd expect from today's games. They would have to completely rework the game for that to happen :(
Bit hard to explain but for example something like the top of this image.
Just the colored line with some shadow.

Are you by any chance working on a more complicated version too?
I for one would love a stylish pattern connecting the squares.
