It was created as a civilian weapon, basically the knife guild wanted to steal customers from the sword guild so they created the messers as "knifes" that are the same as swords. The reason why they wanted the steal sales is because at that time, most places in germany, there was a legal obligation for adult men to own a weapon and because swords do break often(a sword will last 1000 years or 3 battles, which ever comes first), swordsmiths could become very wealthy.

It's really good! Animation, sound, and design is great. I added it to my medieval collection.

I found out about the sword through him as well. There is something about this sword that just makes me look at it for 10 seconds and say 'This sword is really cool!'. I'm sure you have a similar kind of feeling as well to your favorite sword :).

Aah, the Albion Kriegsmesser, made famous by Skallagrim on Youtube. if you want information on the weapon itself, look him up, for (kriegs)messers in general, Shadiversity has some interesting video's. And yes, it has a pommel, it's the metal end of the grip. You just can't remove it for it is pinned instead of threaded.

It's because only nobles were allowed to carry swords at the time, but by the definition of sword this didn't count. Also they never to my knowledge called a machine gun (for example MG 08) maschinenpistole. Maschinenpistoles would be submachine guns. There are also some weapons called machine pistols in English, such as the Skorpion.
Ironguardsman42 23 Jun, 2018 @ 11:32pm
how can you end him rightly if you can't throw the pommel?
Bladiatim  [author] 23 Jun, 2018 @ 9:54pm
Yeah, I have no idea why they didn't call their sword Kreigsschwert instead, which stands for "war sword".
bouggus_barf 23 Jun, 2018 @ 7:57pm
first, germans called machine guns "machine pistols"
then, they freakin called swords "war knifes"!?!?
lol germany
