To make aurochs recruitable with TameBeasties, make sure both mods are in FCS, go into Auroch mod; find squads (auroch - wild/bull/etc.) and add in dialogue animal - tame bull. It should be worded Moo or cow something, you'll see it.

Make sure to go in the race to add auroch backpacks as being able to be equipped for all.

@Kendov You are the best, I just sent a request to the modder of TameBeasties to request compatibility with these beasties. I have seen they haven't updated in a while so I wasn't hopefull until I saw your comment! I'm gonna try your fix now. Any luck on having the backpack fit? Thanks! :steamhappy:

Tamed a man-killer Auroch, but the auroch backpack doesn't fit? bug or intentional?

@Shir Blackwater just load TameBeasties as active along with Auroch mod in the FCS and add the Auroch races to the Bull recruit lines. perhaps at some point in the future there might be a patch with Auroch-special requirements like with foulhounds, but personally I'm too lazy for that

Found a fun tactic for clearing out cannibal settlements, I capture a few injured man killer aurochs, heal them back up then have my fastest runners carry them over to a cannibal place, release the man killer and run it right into the cannibal camp untill they attack it. It's a beautiful thing to watch a camp get flattened in a stampede. =p

Any auroch that does get beaten down somehow I capture again and heal it up for the next raid. Pity I can't actually tame one with the tame beasties mod, they'd be good siege tanks if the enemy doesn't have many turrets.

The gate guards distracted it long enough for me to get away though, so that was nice. I went and hid in the police station until it went down lol.

The Man-Killer is absolutely terrifying. One came at me outside Stack while I was mining and I nearly shat myself trying to get away from it. Mostly because it was really early in the game and it very likely would have one shot most of my characters. The gate paladins were a little messed up from a previous auroch attack and the 5 of them were put down easily, it took down like 3 other paladins and bloodied an Inquisitor before it went down.

@slpc04, Per your request, I've made a version of this mod in which the wild aurochs are only aggressive if attacked. Its available at https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/workshop/filedetails/?id=1776098107

Ty for yr answer! Please, please, is it possible to have a version of no aggressive aurochs roaming any part of the map? I really like my bulls to be hardy but am very wary of having to defend the guards of towns for fear eventually the aurochs will wear them down! Ty in advance! If it is not possible, its ok too, though I hope you could.

@slpc04 The Aurochs Man Killer spawns in Okran's Gulf, Skinners Roam, and Vain. They will travel around just like the normal wild bulls, so yes, they will wander into Stack and hive villages. And since they are very aggressive, they'll attack anything they see. Small herds of Aurochs (3-5) will do the same (the man killer is always alone). I've seen them wipe out the paladins guarding one gate in Stack, but never seen them do more than that before the rest of the paladins take them down.
Skinner's Roam has larger herds of Aurochs, and you should run from them if you see them! I once lured a large herd (about 12) of them into the holy mines in Skinner's roam and they wiped out all the paladins there.

bulls eat what humans eat, just put raw meat/foul raw meat into their backpacks for them.
BlueNukaGaming 18 May, 2019 @ 3:10pm
can i have a list on what all animals eat because all my animals die:steamfacepalm:
BlueNukaGaming 18 May, 2019 @ 3:10pm
what do bulls eat ?

Hi, first thank you for this lovely but deadly mod! I've seen one bull man - killer bring down 4 stack guards and a pile of bonedogs alone. Thing is, will the man killers roam into stack and start killing off the guards there on their own? My lone character ran into stack for guards to help when a lone man killer started the rampage! And I also have tone down the amount of squads in the world maybe thats why its alone. Now i have turned it back up to normal 1 as I don't want wandering paladin squads to be less then able to take down these mankiller beasts. Tks for any reply.

Awesome mod, thank you!

Awesome, this should be fun
Sartek 2 Feb, 2019 @ 4:15pm
Nah, I think its fine, cause they go down rather easily as well. It`s just funny seeing them absolutely slaughter bandits with limbs flying eerywhere.

One charge and 4 dead. 328 damage. And I mean, they are huge....makes sense that they hit hard.
chiaheed  [author] 2 Feb, 2019 @ 3:29pm
@Sartek. If you are advocating for a reduction in there damage output, I may be persuaded, but I think they should be powerful. The aurochs is intended to be a mid to late game pack animal, one that can survive battles against tougher foes, beak things, gorillos, and worse, but there is no real way to limit access to them.

A normal pack bull or garru is a powerful addition to any squad in the early game. The garru is a meat tank that can last thru many fights against starving bandits, dust bandits, fogmen, just on its massive HP and does AOE damage for crowd control. The pack bull does more AOE damage with its charge attack but is more of a glass cannon, barely tougher than a normal character HP wise.

First experience with the Aurochs was wild herds. Went travelling, found a bandit camp while I was injured. Decided to take down the camp to heal.

While I waited, a herd came by and knocked them all down. So I used their sleeping bags. And then came more Aurochs, a man killer. A very serious fight that one was.

And then more herds, killing all the bandits.

FInally got to buy two of them. Holy shit, they are powerful. They mostly knock peole out with one hit, mostly 2 or even more people with one hit. Hits over 200 are common. But I guess its balanced by the fact they get hit by everything easily
DarK 28 Jan, 2019 @ 10:50pm
Thanks! That was the first place I checked. I'll head back there.
chiaheed  [author] 28 Jan, 2019 @ 8:02pm
@DarKcyde, I'll add the territories that the Nomad Animal Merchants travel in to the description. If you've already built a base, they will eventually come to your base.

I also (just now) added them to the nomad animal trader shops in settled nomad villages (Why didn't I think of that before?).
DarK 28 Jan, 2019 @ 10:31am
Is there a reliable place to find nomads? I want an auroch, but I must be hanging out in the wrong places, because I've never seen them (well once, at the start of my game when I didnt have money). A static location (like the Shek ranch mod?) would be nice.

That is really funny, I just bought a Domesticated Bull and named him Auroch last night. This is a really cool idea, it would be great if you could give it a more true to name texture in the future.

Also maybe make him a touch bigger, Auroch's were closer to 30% larger than modern day domesticated cattle. I think the attempted reproduction like Heck Cattle while still smaller were about 25% larger.

Really cool mod that adds some more flavor to the game!
