It has been a few years, but I think there is a big and giant version. Should have the same rarity or slightly rarer than others.
1. With Enhanced Fish Mod enabled, feed one of the mod's fish to your pet.
2. Save and exit while your pet is transformed.
3. Disable Enhanced Fish Mod and enable Mod Unbinder.
4. Load your character, press Continue when the Unbinder asks.
5. Your pet will now revert to a ferret with a random name, regardless of what it was originally (seems the game has a built-in safety mechanism to revert the pet instead of crashing).
6. Save and exit. Disable Mod Unbinder.
7. If you want, you can now use Rapid Respec to rename and change your pet.
Unfortunately, still doesn't answer why the binding sticks in the first place. Maybe when the pet reverts, it's actually to a form contained in Enhanced Fish Mod, not a vanilla form. Or maybe the pet has a "history" transformations... just guessing here.
This leads me to think that something is messing up the pet getting reverted after the fish runs out. Maybe it keeps a record of fish used? Could there be a way to "clean up" the pet? (Sounds like you need rubber gloves for that...)
I also tried using Rapid Respec to change the pet back to a vanilla badger. After this, Torchlight freezes at the initial load screen, so obviously something's really wrong there. I've successfully changed vanilla pets before with Rapid Respec, even the new ones like the badger. On the other hand, Rapid Respec isn't exactly designed to work with mods, so it could just be that it doesn't know how to handle mod data and messes up the save file.
I created a test character from scratch and was able to reproduce the issue. I've included the steps below. If you want the corresponding save file, I've sent a friend request so I can message you the link.
1. Create a new character with Enhanced Fish Mod active, no other mods (I picked badger as pet, if that makes any difference)
2. Run to the Enclave
3. Save and exit Torchlight (I did this after every event to try to see which one triggered the issue)
4. Fish at town fishing hole until you have at least two fish from the Enhanced Fish Mod (didn't test with less, so I don't know if more than 1 is required)
5. Save and exit
6. Feed one of the mod fish to pet
7. Save and exit
8. Reload, wait for fish effect to run out
9. Save and exit
After this, the mod has been permanently bound to the save file. Using Mod Unbinder allows getting into the game, and the pet is still correctly a badger, but the unbind doesn't stick.
Hope this helps.

Sorry Reemer, I don't think I have the save any longer for you to investigate :(
I'm not even lying, I can't seem to replicate what you had happen. The mod only binds when I quit with a fish active, then using the mod unbinder works fine. Could you send me a save file or something so I can try it out sometime? What other mods do you have installed? I want this to get fixed but I don't really know how.
However, I still can't get the mod unbound. I've tried both Mod Unbinder and Torchlight Rapid Respec. To be precise, the unbinding works and I can play once without the mod, but when I try to play again, the binding has returned and the game requires Enhanced Fish again. I even tried feeding my pet a vanilla fish while I was playing without Enhanced Fish, but the unbinding still didn't stick.
I found that my mod was bound to save only when you have a fish buff from the mod active on your pet. To stop this, you can just feed your pet another fish from the original game, such as the Warsnout, or wait for the time to run out. It worked for me, but let me know if it doesn't for you.
tone down the claptalk, unbind the save and you have a 5 star mod.
The name is "Gold Fish Big"
Thanks for your help.
I never said he wasn't entitled to his opinion, just that I disagreed with it, and pointed out the logical flaws in his thinking. Regardless, I was really just more confused as to why he had to pass up the entire game because one mod for the game happens to contain the word "fuck." Were the mod to have come out after he had given the game to his nephew, would he suddenly go to his nephew and say, "Oh, sorry kid, some optionally downloadable content contains swearing, so you're going to have to not play Torchlight, okay, bud?"
Also missed this on my last post: that first "is" should be "in." My bad.
think you could have a pet that has a fire aura that inturns work on you and damages all other monsters?
