Ethical Traits

I'd love to see those traits to be assigned at random to every pop upon creation/birth. Basically to give everyone an inherent morality.

CryoStasis, I didn't, but I found another mod that had the same ethical traits with the same name. I'm sorry, but I didn't check to see what the name of that mod was, I'm doing a bit of tedious trial and error at the moment, so if I find it again, I'll let you know.

Did you have a previous version of this mod installed?

I have a peculiar issue where I'm seeing 2 of each of these traits. One set adjusts their respective focus by 15%, and the other set by the listed 35%. However, when I choose the one with 35%, it always uses the 15% one instead.

For example:
I try to use the [Secular] trait, which adjust the appeal of the materialist ethic by +35%. However, after finishing the gene editing and researching the changes in the situation log, it will show that the trait selected is only adjusting by +15%.

I haven't found any reason for it, so if anyone can help, I'd appreciate it.

I was looking for this for a while! Hope you keep it updated for the sake of the red atention marks. I could imagine that you don't have to change anything to keep ot working.

The ethics page on the stellaris wiki lists all the factors the influence ethics if you want to take a look at that.

Look at Natural Sociologist, altgough you may have to look in the code for Ethics Attraction rather than in the code for the Trait itself.

But yes, I am fairly sure.
CyroStasis  [author] 28 Aug, 2018 @ 7:03am
I didnt know that, are you sure. I'll go scroll though the code for a min and chectk that out.
Peter34 27 Aug, 2018 @ 5:07am
The thing to note is that some vanilla BioTraits already affect Ethics attraction. Ones like Natural Sociologist/Engineer/Physicist adds +15% Materialist Ethics Attraction. And they cost 1 point each.

So for 1 point, I can either have my POPs research Sociology better and be more into Materialism, or I can drop the research point bonus and have them be slightly more than twice as strongly into Materialism.

Means I'm still skeptical that these Traits are worth taking. Because as I said, there's nothing magical about hitting 100% worth of bonus positive Ethics Attraction, as it'll be counter-acted by penalties from other sources.

@Ackoli
Thanks!

good mod
Peter34 12 Aug, 2018 @ 4:46am
There's nothing magical about hitting +100% Ethics Attraction. Several different factors affect Attraction to each Ethos, and for 1 BioTrait Point you can buy something like Rapid Breeding or Fast Learner or Natural Sociololgist. Those are worthwhile to pay for. I'm not sure +35% Ethos Attraction is, although at least it's *better* than +25%.
CyroStasis  [author] 11 Aug, 2018 @ 9:00pm
I'll update it to 35%, I think thats fair. Thanks for your opinions.
Cod Wrangler 11 Aug, 2018 @ 6:31pm
My 2 cents worth:
I think 40% is a bit high. You could probably increase it by 5-10% without causing any balance issues. Once you get to values around 40%, if you're combining the ethics attraction from the trait with the ethics attraction from having a government of the corresponding ethic, you end up with a population that has basically zero chance of having diverging ethics.

Never having to deal with diverging ethics except under the most extreme circumstances is a bit strong for a 1 point trait.
Peter34 11 Aug, 2018 @ 5:48pm
I do think it should be much higher. At least +40%, maybe more. Think about all the neat things you can buy, BioTraits, that cost 1 point. Those are highly useful. Many of them, anyway. 25% Ethics attraction just doesn't compare. Even 40% is thin, and I think it's better to try a higher value, see what kind of feedback you get from people who use your mod.
CyroStasis  [author] 11 Aug, 2018 @ 6:21am
Should i up the attraction? As it is its a little more effective than promoting a faction. It can also help you drift from spriitual to materialist of somthing like that. But if enough of you think it should be higher tell me here.
Peter34 11 Aug, 2018 @ 12:51am
Are these Traits even worthwhile taking? 1 point is a lot to pay for slightly increased Ethics attraction.

@FastestGhostAlive Your welcome, I really liked it and was sad to see it had been abandoned.
Cod Wrangler 5 Aug, 2018 @ 1:12pm
@CyroStasis
Thanks for updating this. Lost all the files for the original when my computer died and never got back to working on it.
CyroStasis  [author] 5 Aug, 2018 @ 12:20pm
@starchitec Yea that's better, Thanks for the suggestion. I just updated to mod to change that.
starchitec 5 Aug, 2018 @ 11:26am
"Just" could do for Egalitarian. Nice Mod!
Chastity the Celibate 4 Aug, 2018 @ 8:09am
For the Egalitarian trait name:

-Equal
-Standard
-Uniform

For Authoritarian, I like the word Domineering
CyroStasis  [author] 3 Aug, 2018 @ 10:59pm
I'll consider the suggestion. I agree that Individualism isn't the best word but I haven't found one that seems more accurate.
LysdexicsUntied 3 Aug, 2018 @ 10:35pm
@Kain If I remember right, when Stellaris first started out "Authoritarian" and "Egalitarian" Ethics were originally "Collectivist" and "Individualist" , so it's probably a callback to that
Kain 3 Aug, 2018 @ 10:02pm
Interesting mod however I would rename Individualist since Equalitarian athics are more Collectivist oriented and Individualism tends to lead to Elitism whic by default means there is little to no requality. That is just my opinion however.
