To be fair the concept of a quirk being negative in itself is entirely subjective, after all, a kleptomaniac's compulsion isn't seen as detrimental to themselves when they are benefitting a ton from it.

If you can, you should make Kleptomania chances tied to their battle position. IE people in the front or back have the highest chance of triggering kleptomanic tendencies cus they will be the first or last to see the loot. But to compensate, each trigger gives them a small buff for the rest of the expedition.

Strongly disagree with commenter below. This makes the game *so* much better. Heroes feel a little more alive, a litte more flavoured, unique. High recommend. Just wish there was more compulsions tbh.

cool idea but removes the point of, *ahem*, negative quirks being, you know, negative. id love to be seeing these ideas implemented elsewhere, but unfortunately quirks are better off as being JUST positive or JUST negative, cool ideas tho! just doesnt fit the current vanilla style, im afraid

cool idea, but it basically makes "compulsions" really strong buffs instead of something bad, if it gave a single buff plus a debuff and the vanilla effect it would be really nice and I would subscribe, unfortunately it's not the case

Interestingly, I sometimes still get unmodified versions of the quirks but leaving the game and then reloading replaces them with the modified versions. Perhaps some other mod's re-adding the default versions?

Hmm, I got a flagellant with Guilty Conscience. Does the bonus it now gives to the Redeem heal also work on his self-heal?

This looks like a good idea! I've thought myself that the compulsion-type quirks should have some kind of mitigating effect, to make always getting rid of them a less obvious strategic choice. I'll give it a try and see how it works.

Reynauld is a reference to real life crusader Raynald de Châtillon. He plundered Muslim caravans during a truce just for his profit. This arguably cost the Christians Jerusalem. He was reviled and executed on the spot when captured.

One thing I found interesting and annoying... The full text shows up on the character but when I book them in for "brain surgery" the mouseovers there are the original ones which sometimes makes it hard to remember which one I wanted to remove.

I'm still noticing the original, unmodified quirks showing up alongside yours. Is this an issue with my game or something that could be fixed in the mod? I love your work, it's been a lot of fun!

I love that the negative quirks are not sooo negative!!!
It makes playing the game more fun and you don't care so much about the negative quirks that the characters are more... humans. It would be fun if the positive quirks in turn were not so positive to balance (for example that "musical" has worse stats if it does not go with a jester or similar)

Would be nice if this left Nyphomania alone instead of turning it into a negative trait, especially since it messes up the text description for it to have a long set of coding.

Question... is it normal for nymphomania to be a negitive quirk for this mod? I just ask because this is the only mod i have installed in a save file that does anything to quirks and I know it’s a positive quirk in game.

Demonomania gives virtue chance -100% and +33% DMG when below 80% HP. It also adds 15 stress when using holy water.

how would i find a detailed list of all the quirks added/changed in the mod? it actually kinda bothers me that i see the flavor text and not being able to see what some things actually do like the demonomania saying "virtue is unlikely, ire is inevitable" but doesn't say how much virtue chance (or affliction, either) is changed

Hey retrotheft, I'm making a mod that reworks all existing quirks in the game. Would you be ok if I included some of your versions the quirks? I tried my own versions of the compulsion quirks, but I think what you did is better xD. If you are ok with it I'll credit you in my mod's description.

Also I figured out a way to display flavor text above the buff description. You can include the original flavor text in the string table and below it write the buff/debuff text yourself. You can add various colors to descriptions too. It would look something like this

@retrotheft resubscribed and the tooltips are okay now, both on the vanilla chars and the modded heroes i have. I should really clean them up... i don't need Egomania on a houndmaster :D

@Generic: I would love to do that, but I don't think it's possible in the game unfortunately. I had the same thought while developing it and couldn't figure out a way to do it. :(

Seems awesome, looking forward to trying it out! Just as a suggestion, maybe place the flavor text for the quirk above the stats it modifies? As of now it displays like this:

Buff
Debuff
Bears the crushing guilt of deeds real and imagined (this is the flavor text)

It would look more visually pleasing imo if the flavor text, which is longer, was placed above the stat changes listed. That's just my opinion though! It's your mod in the end, and you're free to do what you like with it.
