Hello author, do you feel that Roman legionaries have no chance of winning against Greek heavy infantry in formation, does this mod fix it?

Hello author, the mod you created will prevent all factions from recruiting ballista and other siege weapons, and will prevent siege units from being found in the recruitment list.:steamsad:

I really like this mod, sadly for whatever reason it makes certain parts of units be invisible. Arjos generals bodyguard for Scordisci and the Generals bodyguard for Sparta had multiple parts of the men be invisble. Either legs or head. Removed this mod and they went right back to normal. *Shrugs*

Hello Kase, this mod is not working with me for some reason I crash to desktop every time I begin a new game or load a saved game, I do have DEI and another submod called DEI Realism https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1445495370 , I just want to make sure that these 2 mods are not compatible, and if not, would you please make one that's compatible?

and yeah i could not make it work :S not sure what DEI updated exactly usually updating a mod is just as simple as merging the mod with the updated files so as long as i cant figure out what was updated this mod is toast recently the DEI team has constructed their own phalanx sub mod and that seems pretty interesting

This mod and most of the bigger mods I've made for Rome 2 need a proper update but the thing is that until I get the itch to come back to the game I wont be updating any mod.

@Pharaoh those dollar signs are there to have load priority, without them the mod will not work at all, it loads because it does not load the mod as it should.

Pharaoh did you make it work? I got crashes. Tried old launcher didn't work. You mean delete in workshop folder? I did it - crash. It appears there's a conflict somewhere.

DeI has been updated and now you will get ctd when starting a new campaing. I'm going to wait another quick update and then I'll update the mod and use the current damage model combat bases for this mod instead of the ones used in the past.

Antesignani didn't have ANY melee weapon so I gave them swords.
As for the short pikes is nice to hear so I'll try rebalancing the spike damage in order to fit the mod.
Formed Attack units have a hidden buff as cavalry_counter_tactics that mitigates the formed attack thing and also gives a feel for the formation. Sadly the AI can't use the phalanx properly, but like this you'll still get a good line of battle with able hoplites. It's not ideal but I personally like it better like this.

you know I actually really enjoy the warscape games they add so much more depth to the battles


especially the duels they make me feel like Im watching 300 or gladiator I just find them immersive

Also. If you see your phalanx do no damage is because terrain (uphill they will do almost nothing, just holding position) or because the have no training (though against light inf will be more than fine).
You will see an amazing improvement in your phalanxes deadliness as you get buffs from the army traditions and general, the best one you can get is weapon damage.

just some tips for you guys trying to understand the main focus of the mod.

Be careful though, if a phalanx gets flanked it will waver real quick and if the unit flees it will probably cause a mass rout of every phalanx unit you have. This is as intended and it feels great playing as and against phalanxes armies.

Yeah, started as just that, making phalanxes feel more like rome 1 and after that, fixing hoplites and other shield wall units. I'm glad you like it.

I forgot to update the pike formation lul.
Melee defense from 1 mult to 0.75 mult and I added a -8 morale also. This changes should be more noticeable when a pike unit is attacked from the back and/or flanks.
They will still be strong on the front, though against really good units they will loose more 1v1s
