I really like the challenge. It's kinda odd that stuff just randomly sets itself on fire tho. BTW, Mercury has a grey-ish surface color, kinda like the moon IRL.

I'm guessing it's not possible to have both super hot and a permanent super cold area on the same map... I guess an alternative would be to just do a permanently shaded "crater region", if it's not possible to have both. It would still be somewhat unique since the gravity is higher than most no atmosphere cold worlds, not to mention zero sun. No more sun melting ice we drop on the ground too!

This might be a suggestion for a different mod entirely since it'd change this radically, but is there any way to do this to model how you'd actually do a Mercury base? (In the shade!)
-Your landing zone is at a pole on the edge of a crater, in permanent shade (I believe the game models shade/sunny temperature? If not maybe not possible.)
-No atmosphere (this would stop your burning atmosphere issue right?)
-Ice! In the crater shade at the poles. Sun never hits those areas (no solar!)
-Craploads of iron (believe that's realistic)
-Gravity comparable to Mars (Mercury has less mass but it's dense af)

So if you spawn during the night, you basically have to compess the hell out of the air in an attempt to store as much compessed cold air as possible to keep everything from roasting during the day.

This is very true. The best I feel I can do is make sure you're aware of these issues.

As a note for everyone else, fantastic mod. I'm looking forward to take on this challenge of a map, and make a YT series on it. Now, with the problems I have experienced below, if you wish to play between say Mars and perhaps one of @Bishop Crane's other mods, perhaps Ceres, you are going to need to do the following.

To play Ceres:
1) Open the game and go to Workshop
2) Reorder "Ceres" ABOVE "Core"
3) Restart game

To play Mars:
1) Open the game and go to Workshop
2) Reorder "Core" ABOVE "Ceres"
3) Restart game

Glad it's working for you.
Yes, there are still a few bugs around atmospherics sadly, as well as just saving/loading in general.
Stability will come with time!

Nevermind. I retract the part about the atmosphere exceptions. I just tried to load that world and it did the same thing.

Alright so, putting the mod above "Core" works. However. Loading other worlds that have been previously created (for example, a Moon world I have for my YT series) won't load, and kinda do the same thing (minus the atmosphere exceptions).
Bishop Crane  [author] 10 Oct, 2018 @ 2:42pm
Interesting, so first, make sure the load order is so that it is above the core mod. After doing that, you need to exit the game, and restart it.
If it still doesn't work, and you running the stable version, you may need to enable the beta version due to components it relies upon.

Not sure what's going on here, but, I can't seem to load any world made by you, @Bishop Crane. Perhaps the game just acting weird as hell?

And by loading, I mean it seems like it tries to load the world, but then sets me on what looks like a ball of pure light. I see no ground rendered, no sky, it's rather weird. Console always pops up with "Object reference not set to an instance of an object". Then the chat puts up 3 "Atmospherics Exception"s. Any clue?

(also, love the ideas of different planets/ moons/ etc., gonna be making YouTube series on all of them if I can)
Bishop Crane  [author] 7 Oct, 2018 @ 11:53pm
Most likely.
I will be keeping it up to date for now. And hopefully make it a little more "survivable" later on when more options are availiable.

I would wager a guess that the conditions are so extreme that the game engine cannot even handle them yet.:colonistship:

It's certainly an interesting concept. The atmosphere is not really behaving, though. It's basically a hard vacuum above ground and then stays at 10kpa in spots below ground, or 8 kpa in spots nearby above ground. Things also tend to just keep combusting spontaneously, which doesn't really make much sense. I still gave it a whirl just to see what was up!
Bishop Crane  [author] 5 Sep, 2018 @ 11:42am
Sadly that's the atmosphere being set on fire.
Hopefully the better modding interface, which is "coming" will help with that.
