I had a mod like this for Civ V but it was really overpowered. This one isn't. It's well balanced and really it just makes the game better. Thanks for making it :)

for the users who might use this mod, this mod changes the mechanic of units crossing the river. In original game, the only way to cross river is to stick to the river and use all the movement points. But this mod allows you to cross the river if you have the appropriate movement point. This makes melee unit's movement a lot faster.

One of my Must Have mods. It's a pity it doesn't really work with Warfare Expanded but it does with Steel & Thunder, so ying yang. ;) I wonder if S&W works with Japan Reborn (because S&W expands with the Sohei) and someday I must test that. If so, a cool addition would be adding the Zero figher plane for the modern age because both of Japan's unique units zero out (oh that's funny if you understand the grammar) and can't be upgraded (meaning, also, that any promotions die with them) which sucks, esp if you play with a mod that limits the number of units a civ can have, as I do.. It's a cool historical reality but tough in gameplay when your units die out.

And as a neo-Brit the legacy of your units is a big deal culturally. Nobody respects the history of their regiments like the Brits.

As they bloody should, mate. These units are multi-century legends.

Does “Warfare Expanded: Unique Units” in the compatibility section refer to “Steel and Thunder: Unique Units”, or was it a different mod?

Is there a way to stop the excess promotions? I am getting extra promotions when all possible are taken. Which makes scouts unable to auto-explore since they have an "available" promotion and some other similar glitches.

Great mod, only thing that I dislike about it though is that neither secondary weapon nor lighter materials give any benifits when ranged units are inside a city or an encampment, so when you use ranged units for that defensive purpose the first promotion feels completely meaningless.

I'm a bit lost with what you are talking about, I don't know much things about what happened lately with this game's mod improvements concerning text/localization. What do you want me to do ? The advantage of outsourced mod translation is, that you don't have to worry about it and can make changes to your mod without asking your translaters to resubmit their translations to you, to synchronise translated parts with your changes each time. We will review any updates to your mod and update our translation afterwards.

H.Humpel refers to this mod also.

Love this mod, makes some units actually usable. Spearmen and scouts in particular. I've only ever ran into an issue once with this, and thats with a mod called Unique Units keep abilities. It makes it so that a Toa uprgrading into a musketmen can still make the fort like district.

Thing is, it conflicts with this mod, after rigourous testing of all mods a friend and I use, they cause some...rather buggy things to happen. For one, most units don't keep their abilities. Often it just overrides them, but not always. Aminatores units lose the +1 movement for example. We tested this with just this mod and the Unique mod on, and confirmed it is 100% these two conflicting. I wanted to ask if you have any plans to possibly make them compatible? As it would be wonderful to have both. Also, do you have a donation spot?

Either way, thank you for this mod and your time.

PS: I can`t mod, but I'm decided to learn so I can make promotions to my taste, so I'm doing it through your mod. I went so far as to create an extra promotion on the melee line so this line starts with it, making it a prereq for Warcry and Defensive Strenght. it gives +3 Combat Strenght in all situations. I can choose this promotion and the next ones both. The +3 are accounted for in the sum of the Combat strenght, but somehow the description to the right doesn't show (and the descrption of the next promotions also disappeared. I made the name (Veteran) and the corresponding description appear in the box. I moved the whole promotion tree one line down, so the final promotion moves from line 4 to line 5. Problem is it doesn't fit the blue box, with the final promotion rectangle being a little outside of it.

@Kimu thanks for this mod. I`m trying to edit it, more to my tastes. Is there anyway I can alter the size of the blue box itself and/or make the colums futher apart so I can fit more promotions vertically and fit 3 promotions on the same line? Thanks

@choijanggyu It's strange because i looked it up and it reminded me of a very old code mistake i had few years ago. Are you sure the mod is well updated to you ? I double checked, i saw nothing wrong. I remember i did put that '2' because i had some conflict with previous fonction demo i made/test. On the last file of the mod, all variable are correct and that LOC_PROMOTION_RBUP_COMMANDOS_DESCRIPTION2 is in fact okay in the two file already. Make sure your mod is updated and keep me in touch.

When i tried just deleting just "2", It was no problem
But now It just show a word "swedish"

@kimu Thank you! I figured that since you said you can't test you'd like to know that as far as I can tell in my current game the issue is fixed. I was able to check the descriptions of archer, warriors and scouts, and they are all in English now. Thanks for the super quick fix!!! I will be sure to let you know if I see the issue pop up again. Oh, and since I've had a chance to play with your mod a little, I wanted to let you know that I much prefer yours to the vanilla promotion trees; yours are way more fun and interesting. Great job! :) :) :)

@Littlebearx22 I did an update, you were 200% right, 15 french language lines were overwriting all other language ones, thanks for the info. I hope it's fixed now, if not don't hesitate to tell (and again what ability line). I don't know if you have to make a whole new game to see the changes but i would say not necessarily. Cheers, and np things must work nicely ! I can't test it right now (my civ6 config is sensible) so sadly im updating the mod kinda blindly, i mean with no tests at all.

@Kimu Yes, my base language is English. It was the "native ability" on the warrior when I started a new game as the Nubian civ. I continued playing that game a bit and all the "native abilities" (like the scout being able to see further) on the tooltip when I hovered over the unit portrait, were listed in French. But the promotion trees remained in English unlike what I predicted earlier. I have since started a second game as the German civ and again, all the units have French descriptions of their inherent abilities. But I thought it was important to mention that the Barbarossa ability (where they get a bonus to fighting city states) is listed in the same tooltip, but is listed in English. If there is somewhere you'd like me to post a screenshot, please let me know I'll see if I can! Thank you for your attention (and again, for the mod). :)

I apologize if I'm missing something simple. When I loaded up a new game with this mod, my starting warrior's native ability description is coming up in what I believe is French. I checked and reaffirmed my language settings in game. Restarted, reloaded. I looked but didn't see anyone else post this same problem here. I wonder if it's related to the fix for the problem someone else was having with an error showing in that space. Anyway, it's not completely unusable, I'll just have to refer back to the pictures whenever I get a promotion (I'm assuming everything will continue to be in French). Anyway, I figured I'd leave a comment. I have a few other mods loaded, if you think that might be the issue I'd be grateful if you let me know. Thank you for what I hope will be a fun addition to the game!

@Social Mechanic yes, you can check these up on the mod screenshots, they are part of native abilities. The recon units are not day one (check again) and the amphibie native for soldier were a very hard decision i made with my my friend advising. It can feel a little strong but that's how they will be more appealing that anti-cavalry and cavalry since we realized we were using them less and less. Anyway, please read mods descriptions before posting.

@twomoores it's absolutely fine, i really didn't mean anything bad don't worry. Mod creators get this kind of demand twice a day sometimes x) it's always delicate to say when it's too much for us but we have too. Sorry if it sounded a bit harsh though, i am getting used to these and i prefer to be very honest/quick & sum up why (if it's really hard or long or no motivation) instead of a blurry "maybe" that could give you hope and make you even more sad. When I started using this mod, Recon units could sail in deep water from day one, and melee units can cross rivers with no movement penalty. Is this intended?

To fix this problem I would like to make this mod compatible with better recon - unit which adds some new promotions to the recon class. I was hoping you could tell me how to remove your promotions for recon units.

@twomoores yes i took a closer look at it, i removed because along the changes i made i was fearing it could bring an overpower combo. I didn't think it was not very realistic (because give siege units horses ? can't imagin a catapult go quicker on horse), i know it's now a downside for you because it's very handy but imo that aspect of the promotion was a bit too much since making formation cost nothing. If people are against me, may be i could bring it back. If not and you are still upset about it i can give you line about how to add it.

@twomoores Hmm yes this escort mobility promotion is now gone because of my mod, since i gave light cavalry unit a new "ultimate" promotion. Are we agree that this concern only light cavalry unit right ? What did you mean "Same with great people", you were associating great people with light cavalry ? Anyway got to reflect on that.
